Huh, I totally missed this. And I'm a regular there.
Dumbass couldn't even an hero right.

There was never enough angst. But get your popcorn and head over to Toaster Steve aka Dakota Moore's Facebook. It's become a semi-permanent /b/ thread over there these past few days, because everything related to our "pal" keeps getting 404'd. To recap:

1. One of the two girls he accused of falsely accused of raping him was discovered and had to delete her account due to the unwanted attention it brought her. Not going to post her name because she's an alleged rape victim.

2. There have been calls for Toaster Steve to be made a mod. I doubt this is going to happen because the other mods don't seem too friendly on him, but the support is there.

3. A fake Dakota J. Moore popped up a couple days ago and amassed much attention by insisting he was fine and accusing various Christian theologians of having set the fire. This profile and its dozens of comments have since been deleted.

4. He seems to have developed quite the following of high school/college-aged girls. They apparently find him attractive and only wish they could have "been there" for him. Don't be surprised if we see a few copy cats... *meow*

5. Contrary to what some are claiming, there is no official Toaster Steve New Toaster Fund. Claims that a Toaster Steve Legal Defense Fund has managed to raise over $30,000 are also false.

6. The University expressed its distaste at the Mantears being shed for Dakota on public university pages by persons not affiliated with the university. The comments and images have been deleted.

7. The ex-gf / alleged rape victim #2 has created a NEW Facebook account (it's definitely legit), and last night she began PMing other Facebook users with her side of the story. (Drama!)

8. As of this morning, the conversation has taken a more serious turn as they debate the question, "What constitutes rape?" and the ethics of banging a drunk chick. Both legal and philosophical arguments have been made, along with the occasional interjection of "Ask the Toaster! The Toaster is impartial and will have seen it all!"

For the record, I am not associated with any of this, nor am I condoning anyone's behavior. MySpace Suicide was one of my all-time favorite memes, so this sort of brings back warm fuzzy memories of teh Internetz circa 2005. Also, the TV is broken.

And if you're still with me, here's a new link from the Daily Mail. They're only just now publishing Toaster Steve's real name, even though they've had it since Sunday.

That is a truly beautiful clusterfuck! I'm getting all nostalgic over here.

Shame, that.

And now she's been messaging /b/tards, which means this could get very ugly very fast.
I don't understand why people do this. You can't win. You never win.

This idiot is going to keep doing the same attention seeking shit as long as everyone watches his every move.

He if wants to commit suicide he will be successful no matter what anyone does.

My mom used to threaten with that shit when she wouldn't get her way, finally one day when I was fed up with her threats I told her that if she wanted to be thrown in the grave to go ahead cause I wasn't gonna help pay to get an extra large caskett for her. If she wanted the last images her grandkids to have of her buried without a caskett I wasn't gonna stop her. I also told her to do it outside so there would be less cleanup afterwards.

She has never called me to tell me she is going to kill herself ever again. That was about 9 years ago.

I have one of those mothers too. Spent my whole life choosing drugs over motherhood and now that I'm busy with my life (Hubby, kids, work, running a household, etc.) she goes on those tangents of actually attempting suicide, so far I have seen multiple overdoses and an attempt at starving herself to death. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has taken the what-the-fuck-ever approach on it, usually everyone thinks I'm a cold-hearted cunt for feeling that way, but after over 20 years you get tired of mothering your own damn mother!

I had a friend who used to call me threatening suicide. He did this on four different occasions during the time that I knew him. After the third call, I realized that if he was going to do something, he would likely end up doing it anyway, and my spending several hours "talking him down" over the phone wasn't doing jack shit. I had also come to realize that it wasn't my responsibility to keep him alive. I sort of "uh-huhed" my way though that last suicide threat and quit answering the phone at 3:00 in the morning. I haven't heard from him in a while, but I'm sure he's still among the living.

I also had a friend who was in a terrible car accident, spent three and a half months in a coma, and awoke with minimal brain damage. Upon his release from the hospital, he was met with a hell of a lot of attention because hardly anyone ever expected that he would wake up. After a few months, the attention surrounding him began to wane as everyone readjusted to having him back. But my friend was evidently having trouble adjusting, and without any warning he decided to recreate the car accident in the same time and place. Thankfully he survived, and no one else was injured. Now, I'm not entirely sure whether he truly wanted to kill himself (he later insisted that he'd been "meant" to die in the original accident) or if this was just some desperate plea for attention, but I've always leaned towards the latter. There are people who are willing to do some really crazy shit for a few minutes in the spotlight, even if it means their lives.

Could there be brain damage from the original crash that has gone essentially undetected? Like the kind that made him go crazy? In all seriousness, my ex-FIL had a massive head injury and it changed him from a miserable drunk to one of the nicest men in the world, so weird stuff happens with head injuries sometimes.

Yes, that's what I think. As far as anyone knew, the only actually damage he suffered concerned his memory and motor skills, which both returned with time. But he seemed a little "off" even after that. For instance, he might start compulsively rhyming words, or he'd get an idea in his head that he just couldn't seem to let go. (Like, "Let's have sex." "No, thank you." "Please?" "No." "PLEASE??" "No, and I have to leave now." "Can we have sex before you go?") It was written off as the psychological side-effects of everything he'd been through, but I truly suspect it was more than that.

I haven't talked to the guy in a number of years, and I don't know anyone who has. This may sound awful, but I found it impossible to continue being his friend.

too bad it didn't quote him "Boston Burns, member - Dreamindemon.com"

Well it links back to here. But I have to admit, I'll need a little more information about BostonBurns before voting for him in the next presidential election. Where does he stand on issues like Canada and postnatal abortion? Invading Mexico for their oil? Has he chosen a running mate yet?

Quick Toaster Steve update:

Facebook deleted Dakota Moore's cover photo a couple days ago, which had essentially become a Toaster Steve thread. His Facebook itself is still up there, so the post which was second to the top has since been declared "New Thread." Everything added to that one is also being automatically added to Buzzfeed.

From what I can tell, it seems to be just a handful of people keeping the Toaster Steve worship up, most notably one college-aged girl who is obsessed with the alleged rape accusations. There's also some middle-aged guy who kinda looks like a child molester (not to stereotype) and is using this new "thread" to write personal essays about the women in his life and men's rights. I suppose once you've become immortalized in Encyclopedia Dramatica, people tend to lose interest in you until you're referenced in a future meme. I imagine he'll regain some of the lost attention once he's out of the hospital -- if anyone allows him within fifty feet of an Internet connection, that is.
