Woman charged with child abuse after exposing 2 babies to mace

Jasmine Caruthers, 22, is facing multiple charges, including two counts of child abuse on a victim under 8 after police say she exposed two children to mace.

Officers were dispatched to the home and found three broken windows and mace sprayed inside the home, police said.

The victims, including two adults and two babies under the age of 1, exited the home while attempting to prevent themselves from breathing any more mace, police said.

The babies had runny noses and flushed faces, according to an arrest report.

The victims told police Caruthers had thrown rocks at the windows and sprayed mace inside the home for unknown reasons. The adults took the babies and hid in a room away from the broken windows until Caruthers left, according to the report.

A Nashville woman was arrested Sunday after police say she exposed two babies to mace.

Jasmine has a child by the man of the home, their child was in the home during the incident.
