THIS. My aunt had a cat that was born three or four years before I was and lived until I was a junior in high school - so WAY past its life expectancy. Even though it was the freaking devil cat, my aunt still treated it like family until it had to be put down.We have a 16+ year-old Chow & Shar Pei mix that's having a little trouble getting around. As long as she's not in un-treatable pain, we're keeping her around & she's treated like a queen. We know that she'll be painlessly escorted across the "Rainbow Bridge" when the time comes. Until then, she's treated like the beloved family member she is.
