Reno Police booked 17-year-old Mashenka Ann Marie Reid on adult charges of open murder Saturday

Officers responded to a home in Stead after a neighbor reported hearing what sounded like muffled gunshots and someone shouting for help, according to police documents.

Before police arrived, dispatch received another call, apparently from Reid herself, saying she had shot her father and brother. When asked what happened, she reportedly said, “I just couldn’t resist the urge to kill somebody.”

Responding officers found Reid’s father, who was shot multiple times, dead in the garage. They also found her brother, described as 4 to 5 years old, dead on the living room couch with a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was laying on the floor where Reid said she had dropped it.

Reid’s younger sister was found unharmed in a locked bedroom.
