Authorities say 28-year-old Cecil Bryant intentionally put alcohol in a baby bottle, causing a child to get sick, according to an arrest report.
The report states on the evening of Nov. 1, an investigator with the Department of Children and Family Services advised deputies that a child had a blood alcohol level of .142.
According to the arrest report, a woman told deputies she was having a Halloween party the night prior when Bryant offered to make bottles for the children. The woman said she then fed her child the bottle that night, as well as the next morning.
The report states the child fell asleep on and off and began vomiting.
The woman told deputies she then noticed the bottle smelled like "the odor of watermelon alcohol," according to the report. She also tasted it and noticed the taste of watermelon Smirnoff.
The report states the woman had a camera in her living room, which investigators reviewed.
According to the report, video shows Bryant grabbing the baby bottle and returning from the kitchen "while shaking a liquid in the bottle as if to mix formula." She then handed the bottle to the woman, who started feeding it to the baby.
The report states deputies checked the bottle, determining it "emanated a watermelon alcohol smell."
According to the arrest report, while at the hospital, nurses told deputies the baby's blood alcohol level of .142 was a possibility for severe toxicity.
The report states deputies determined that Bryant "knowingly and willfully performed an intentional act that could reasonably be expected to cause great bodily harm or permanent disability/disfigurement to [the baby]."
