A Pineville father has been arrested for murder after the death of his infant.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, the infant was admitted to a local hospital on April 6 with signs of extensive bruising and difficulty breathing. The infant had injuries to its torso, head and lower extremities. There was also life-threatening bleeding on the brain. The infant was airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans for further treatment.

Rodney Dale Guillotte Jr., 38, of Pineville, was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for attempted first-degree murder and one count of domestic abuse battery with a child present after it was learned he had committed multiple batteries on his child for at least two weeks and on the infant’s mother.

RPSO also learned that the child’s mother, Elisha Cheyenne Mazerolle, 27, also of Pineville, had firsthand knowledge of the abuse of the child but did not take the child to the hospital or contact law enforcement to report the issue. She was arrested for principal to first-degree murder and a probation violation.
