19YO Arkansas Man Arrested After Severely Beating 2YO Girl Who Later Died

A release from the sheriff's office said that on March 1, emergency services responded to a 2-year-old girl who was found unresponsive.

Once deputies were on the scene the child was observed with "injuries consistent with domestic violence," the release said. Wesley Davis, 19, was identified as a suspect and arrested.

According to the release, Davis was interviewed by deputies and gave a confession. He was booked into the county jail on first-degree domestic battery.

The child was transferred to the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, where she died of her injuries on March 4. The release said that after the child's death, Davis's charge was updated to first-degree murder.
