A 13-year-old boy suspected in a deadly Burien shooting last week told detectives he did it just because he "felt like doing it," according to police documents.

The 35-year-old victim was shot in the head Tuesday night, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. The man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center and died of his injuries a few days later.

Detectives say the suspect saw the victim, Hassan Ali Hassan, walking and followed him for about a block before pulling out a gun and firing one shot as Hassan was walking away from him, striking him in the back of the head.

The gunman ran off to a friend's house and tried to get him to let him in, but then ran off again before they could open the door. The friend later identified the suspect to police.

Surveillance video was a key to finding their suspect.

"They were actually able to follow the suspect from the Burien Transit Center all the way to where he killed the victim, or where he shot the victim through all the different surveillance video," says Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect lived at the home of his former girlfriend and the homeowner confirmed to police the teen was gone at the time of the shooting and that her gun was also missing.

The teen was found and arrested. During the interview with detectives explaining the motive, the teen said he had been depressed and felt like if he didn't kill someone he would kill himself and because he "just felt like it," police said. Investigative documents don't suggest the suspect knew the victim.

“It's a tragic story,” said Abbott. “The victim never met this guy, didn't say anything to him. didn't even know it was coming."

The teen is being held at the Youth Service Center for investigation of murder, sheriff's officials said. Prosecutors have yet to decide if he will be charged as an adult.

And theyll take it easy on him cuz of his age. Should be LWOP, but god forbid we cage dangerous shit like they deserve. Makes me fucking SICK
Might be surprised. I came across a kid who seemed an adorable precocious kid. He was in a state facility for life most likely because he set his little sibling on fire. They sometimes keep the deadly ones under lock and key. Hopefully this one gets tried as an adult or found insane and never gets released. Crazy, I never even thought homicidally til I was well into my teens. Mental illness or no. Can't wrap my head around this. At all.

He's probably more like 23 or 33. Most likely here under minor child migrant status by some liberal group. WA citizen taxpayers, good luck with that.
