Guitar Hero Expansion Tracks

May 10, 2007 at 10:31 am by

Activision has released 7 titles that will be covered in the Guitar Hero expansion called Guitar Hero: Rocks the ’80s.

  • I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)
  • I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)
  • Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)
  • I Want Candy (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
  • Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
  • Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)
  • Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)

A possible July release, this expansion will only be available to PS2 owners. I will more than likely buy this, as I love the game, but I am wondering how Xbox 360 owners will be treated. Will these songs be offered via downloadable content in the same way the last batch of songs were done? A lot of people didn’t seem too happy with that.

May 9, 2007 at 2:01 pm by

Just a reminder, The Hidden Hand, will have its May 9th concert at the Paradiso in Amsterdam webcast live on online concert channel Fabchannel.com.

The Hidden Hand was created by Scott “Whino” Weinrich, one-time member of such doom staples as Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, and most recently, Spirit Caravan. Founded with Bruce Falkinberg and Dave Hennessy (later replaced by Matt Moulis), Hidden Hand leans more on the psychedelic side of the doomstoner spectrum as opposed to Scott’s previous bands.

LA HABRA – Arthur Ruiz, 32, attacked his mother, Guadalupe Ruiz, 60, cutting off her head with a circular saw. He then tried to do the same thing to himself. He died from severe neck injuries.

Police found his decapitated mother on one bed and him on another in the same room they were renting in a three-bedroom home occupied by three other adults and a juvenile. Police were dispatched after responding to a 911 call. Neighbor Paula Sanchez said she heard the sound of the saw before she went on her daily walk but thought it was someone doing yard or house work.

“If it would have been a gunshot or something, I would have called the police.”

Arthur Riaz had some run-ins with the law before, 8 days in jail and three years probation for refusing to leave a home on Thanksgiving 2004, 45 days in jail and three years probation for being under the influence of drugs in 2000 and driving drunk in 1999.

Spore Delayed to 2008

Those of you looking forward to playing Will Wright’s latest offering, “Spore”, are going to have to wait awhile longer. In EA’s latest corporate statement, which can be read at GameDaily, there is an update on the game which pushes the release to April 2008 or thereabouts.

The report also shows $25 million in losses for the fourth quarter of 2006 (which ends March 31st). They are blaming the shift to the new consoles rather than EA’s reputation for making shitty games and milking bad franchises. Let’s just hope that the Spore delay results in a better game, and that EA’s new franchises, like “Skate”, fulfill their potential and get our beloved game bohemeth back in the black.…

Police arrested Jason Todd Burns, 25, accused of attempting to sell two children, ages 1 and 5, over the Internet for sex.

“His admission was that he did engage in a chat room conversation and that the conversation dealt with Burns arranging for and quoting a price for the other individual to have sex with a 1- and a 5-year-old girl,”

Assistant District Attorney Lesley March states that Jason admitted to investigators that he had promised to procure the children for a man in New York for $5,000. It is unclear whether Jason was offering his own children, but including a stepchild of Jason’s, the age range of his two children would fall within the age range promised to the New York man.

Prosecutors plan to file a charge of transmitting information by computer for purposes of instigating sexual contact with a minor, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. There may also be more charges filed as two computer were removed from Jason’s home and were being searched by investigators.…

Alicia Dean, 20, a medical student at the University of Michigan, got into a heated argument with her parents. Leaving the home, she got into her Ford Explorer and began backing out of the driveway. Her mother, Dr. Robin Dean, opened the passenger door and held onto it in an attempt to get the daughter to stop. When Alicia continued driving, Robin Dean fell to the ground and struck her head on the pavement, killing her.

Authorities do not know what the argument was about, but neighbors say the parents of Alicia are both doctors and have lived there for 30 years. They were described as normal people, but police state they had been to the residence once before for a domestic disturbance, but no arrests were made.

Police believe that this was an accident, but that if a prosecutor were to file any charges, it would be a manslaughter charge. The daughter is currently in the hospital, traumatized.

Deputies said a Tennessee man rammed his car into a Greer convenience store Friday morning in an effort to get to his wife, who had locked herself in a bathroom.

Jennifer Faler came into the Sunoco gas station at around 6a.am. She was bleeding and her eyes were swollen. She told the clerk that her husband had beaten her and to call 911. Her husband, Mark Faler, 26, was outside by their car waiting to pump gas. When his wife did not come out, he went inside threatening to kill his wife. EMS workers then arrived and were able to separate the two with Jennifer locking herself into the bathroom and Mark going outside to his car.

It is at this point that authorities state that Mark then drove his vehicle through the wall of the Sunoco near the spot the bathrooms are located. Jennifer was taken to the hospital and is in fair condition, while Mark is in custody charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, assault with intent to kill and malicious injury to property.…

Virtual Rape = Real Prison?

May 7, 2007 at 7:50 am by

Police in Brussels are investigating the report by a Second Life player that they were raped online. That is, their digital representation was sexually molested against their will. Online. Which is raising some interesting legal issues.

For me, the issue is pretty clear-cut. But in an age where the molestation and stalking of minors online IS a punishable offense, where do we draw the line? What should be the difference in punishment?

I hate to belittle the feelings of the complainant in this case, but frankly I’m a tad pissed that they would equate the molestation of a virtual character to what a person feels when someone is holding them down and thrusting themselves violently into them. What it feels like to be drenched in a stranger’s sweat. The cold humiliation, the fear of existing in the real world, these things have no correlation to a world where the victim could have simply pressed a button on their computer to “reset” everything. A victim that could have walked away at any moment.…

The 12-year-old disabled girl was sexually assaulted by six men and forced fed drugs, including cocaine. The girl lived with her mom in the Rexdale Blvd. and Hwy. 27 area in a home that was being used as a haven for drug dealers and addicts. It is being alleged that the mother was aware of the activities and helped in facilitating them.

“She had levels of crack cocaine in her system so she was obviously given drugs,” confirms Supt. Ron Taverner. “Several males had performed various sex acts with this 12-year-old developmentally challenged young girl. It’s certainly a situation that is very rare. A situation that is very despicable.”

The males accused range in age from 19 to 55 and have been charged with a variety of crimes, including sexual assault, sexual interference and a number of drug offences. The 42-year-old mother is facing the relatively rare charge of corrupting children. It’s punishable by up to two years in prison. The girl is in protective custody.

UFO: Extraterrestrials

Attention game developers! If you want to make money off of us gamers, and you are trying to take advantage of our nostalgia, please load up UFO: Extraterrestrials to see how it is done. Instead of ruining a genre by adding to it, this Russian developer has copied one of the greatest games of all time, and simply updated it with higher resolution and better graphics. That is all we want you to do.

I booted this game up with almost no hope for rekindling that love I have for X-Com. I’ve almost given up on feeling those same emotions while playing a game. I can’t even get those feeling by going back and playing the originals. I’m not a graphics whore, but seeing those old sprites makes me wonder how I ever loved those games in the first place. Boy, was I shocked when this one loaded up.

This game is a carbon copy of X-Com. And that is a very, very good thing. What tweaks I have seen so far have been very good.…

Uwe Boll Gets Positive Review

May 3, 2007 at 8:36 am by

How many of you read that title three times, just to make sure? Believe it or not, Todd over at Twitch says that the movie surprised him in a good way.

Rather than continuing to fight his public and online image Boll has decided to embrace it, intentionally elevating the level of absurdity and shlock here to never before seen levels, all in the name of creating one of the most coarse, vulgar and offensive comedies ever put to celluloid. (Full Review)

I’m actually gladdened by this news. I’ve enjoyed stomping on Uwe’s nuts over the years as he ruins game franchises by turning them into SilverScreen shitbags. But who in their right mind thinks that anyone else would have made a hit out of these games we love? Doom, anyone? And with everyone piling on Uwe, I feel myself getting defensive over him. Kinda how I feel about George Bush. In both cases, the haters go beyond being rude to the point that they create a lovable caricature out of a real person.…

Eye of Judgement Update

[youtube ZxOXOM16HTg video]

A new video of some gameplay.  I am getting geeked out over this, but I’ll keep assuming that nobody else here cares.

What I want to see now is a video that overlays the feed from the TV with a shot of what the gamer is doing with the cards and his/her hands.  Oh, fuck, who am I kidding with the politically-correct gender bullshit.  HIS hands.  No female is ever going to touch this game.  Evar.…

Police say, Shaun A. Lockett, 32, and another relative, Lashawn S. Brown, 27 severly burned Mr. Lockett’s 10-year-old daughter with scalding water and the denied her medical treatment. She died a week later.

The girl, Quiniece Lockett, was blind, partially paralyzed and had cerebral palsy. The girl suffered second and third degree burns to her back, neck and legs after being lifted out of her wheelchair and placed in the scalding water by Lashawn Brown. When the father returned home, the opted to not seek medical treatment, but rather to apply salve to the burns. Burns so bad that Quiniece’s skin was falling off.

“This girl died a horrible, horrible death,” said city Police Chief Charles Kellar. “I’ve seen everything that comes down the pike. This is one of the worst ones. It’s just horrible.”

Lockett and Brown initially lied to police stating that they had taken the girl to the hospital, but the hospital states that there is no record of this, and had they seen the girl, she would have been automatically transferred to the burn unit.…

Two teens were arrested and charged with first-degree assault. Kyle Meredith and Mateusz Dybala, both 16, are charged with pouring drain cleaner on playground equipment located at Victory Villa Elementary School in Baltimore County. This resulted in two year-old Payton Potochney suffering second and third degree burns after sliding down a slide that had been covered in the industrial strength drain cleaner. The youths also face juvenile charges of reckless endangerment and second-degree burglary stemming from the fact they broke into the school to obtain the drain cleaner.

Payton has since undergone five surgeries that involved doctors having to remove skin from several parts of the toddler’s body to place on the back of his thighs and calves, where he sustained the burns.

You can donate to the toddler’s recovery fund via The Payton Potochney Fund at any Bank of America branch.
