MOORHEAD, MN — A vampire obsessed truck driver has been accused of kidnapping a 19-year-old relative and holding her hostage inside his semi for six months.
Timothy Vafeades, 53, owns and operates Twilight Express Trucking out of Utah. Last week he was stopped at a weigh station in Minnesota for a routine check when it was discovered he had some issues with his log book.
While doing a bit more checking, a state trooper found that Vafeades also had a problem stemming from a protection order that barred him from being with the 19-year-old female currently sitting in his truck, sporting a black eye.
When questioned, the girl told investigators Vafeades had kidnapped her and had been holding her captive for the last six months. She said it all started when she made contact with Vafeades with the hopes of building a relationship with him, and helping him run his trucking company. So in May, she left Florida and met him in Salt Lake City.
The first night there, she said she woke up to find Vafeades performing a sex act on her.…Continue Reading
ROCKLEDGE, FL – Police say a 36-year-old man brutally beat his stepmother before stuffing her into the trunk of his car.
There are no details regarding what prompted the beating, but the 57-year-old woman told police Thomas Youngman beat her head and face, slammed her head on the garage floor, stuffed her in the trunk of his car and informed her he was going to kill her.
She said Youngman began to drive off, but stopped to open the trunk and take away her cell phone. He then pulled her out of the trunk by her hair and began beating her again. Somehow she was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s for help as Youngman fled the scene.
The woman was taken to the hospital and Youngman was arrested later after he returned home. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, kidnapping, and resisting a law enforcement official without violence.
This isn’t the first time Youngman has been accused of assaulting his stepmom.…Continue Reading
NEWPORT BEACH, CA – Four rather inventive, albeit clueless, people in California were arrested and accused of kidnapping a man and going medieval on his ass. The kidnappers allegedly used a blowtorch on the victim before chopping off his penis in an attempt to make the man reveal the location of money they erroneously believed he’d buried in the desert.
According to prosecutors, the unidentified victim is a prosperous medical marijuana dispensary owner who took some of his pot suppliers, including Kyle Handley (pictured), on a pricey Las Vegas trip last year. After returning from the trip, Handley allegedly told friends that the victim was loaded, setting into motion a scheme to kidnap and rob the man.
Four weeks prior to the kidnapping, the dick-snippers started following the dispensary owner during his frequent trips into the desert outside of Palm Springs. The four had it in their heads that their target was driving there “to bury large amounts of cash,” according to the statement. In actuality, he was making the trips to the desert to discuss a possible investment deal.…Continue Reading
AURORA, CO - A 26-year-old man in Colorado is behind bars after police say he kidnapped an 8-year-old girl from her bedroom window last week.
Police say last Monday, at around midnight, John Snorsky Jr. removed a screen from the bedroom window of an 8-year-old girl and then pulled the girl out of her house. The girl struggled and screamed as she was carried into an alley behind her home. She was able to escape and run to her father who had been woken up by his daughter’s cries for help.
Snorsky fled the scene when the girl’s father tried confronting him, but between the father noticing a newer model Mercedes in the area that night, along with the girl’s description of the man who kidnapped her, police were able to quickly identify Snorsky as a possible suspect. Within hours, he was arrested on an unrelated felony parole violation. Turns out Snorsky was already in some trouble after giving a false report to a pawn broker back in September.
On Friday, detectives say they’d gathered enough evidence to charge Snorsky with first- and second-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping.…Continue Reading
UMATILLA, FL – Florida police say a man kidnapped a 14-year-old girl, strangled her and drove over her with his SUV after she refused to have sex with him for money.
According to police, Adrian Mendez became angry when the teen refused his $200 offer for sex. Not taking no for an answer, Mendez pulled the teen into his Ford Explorer by her hair, then strangled her until she lost consciousness.
About 90 minutes later, someone watched as Mendez intentionally backed over the girl with his vehicle and then sped forward, spinning the tires on her body.
“He was on top of her with the vehicle. And I started screaming at him. He backed up, he literally backed up and hit her again and he went to take off because he heard us screaming at him,” said Shane Green, who had been outside barbecuing. “He hit his brakes and was spinning his tires on top of that little girl.”
When police arrived on the scene, they found the girl on the side of the road. …Continue Reading
HANCOCK COUNTY, MS - A man recently released from prison after setting his dead fiancee on fire, now stands accused of brutally attacking a woman.
Mark Rice was just released from jail in March, but now he’s back in custody on charges of kidnapping, sexual battery and aggravated assault. He’s accused of beating a woman so badly that Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan called the attack one of the most heinous attacks he has dealt with in Hancock County.
“She suffered injuries to her face. She suffered injuries to her throat; He attempted to strangle her with the electric cord attached to a lamp,” Grannan said. “She suffered injuries to her buttocks area and back side as a result of a sexual attack.”
The unidentified woman was found by a roommate who had returned home to find the victim bound with duct tape and electrical ties. Unlike idiots in the movies, this person did not go into the house and investigate, but rather ran out of the house and called 911.…Continue Reading
Dallas, TX - Two teenagers checking out an attractive woman in the car next to them helped save her from a kidnapper after she mouthed the words, “Help me” at the teens.
Aaron Arias, 19, and Jamal Harris, 17, first noticed the woman in the back seat of a car at a stoplight. They were checking her out because they thought she looked good, but the woman looked “panicked” and was mouthing “Help me” at the teens who noticed the driver of the car had turned to look back at them.
Arias called 911 and reported what was happening. “Yes, I’m on the highway,” Arias told the 911 dispatcher. “I’m witnessing a robbery; not a robbery — a kidnapping.”
The teens followed the woman’s car down U.S. 175 until police caught up with them and pulled the car over. Turns out that an hour earlier, the 25-year-old woman had been kidnapped after leaving a downtown office building.
Police say Charles Atkins Lewis Jr smacked her across the head with a pistol and forced her into her own car.…Continue Reading
PHILADELPHIA, PA – A Pennsylvania woman is facing a slew of charges after a handicapped woman was found by police, tied to a urine-soaked bed in the basement of her Philadelphia home, suffering from sores, multiple wounds, and living in “unsuitable conditions,” according to an arrest report.
As if living in Philadelphia wasn’t bad enough.
Regina Bennett, 46, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, assault, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, public drunkenness and other offences on Sunday after getting into a scrap with a neighbor.
Officers were called to a home on Linton Street to break up a fight between Bennett and a neighbor, identified as Liza Figueroa. While they were there, they were informed that a child may have been in the house. Though police found no signs of children living in the home, they did find the 36-year-old victim, bound to a bed. She was described as “extremely thin,” in the police report, and “appeared to be special needs and has a limited vocabulary.”
Figueroa told NBC-affiliate WCAU, “I would of never imagined that the police officers yesterday, resulting from the altercation that I had with her, [would discover] that she had someone tied up in her basement.”
The unidentified victim was taken to Einstein Hospital for evaluation.…Continue Reading
On July 10, a woman came to law enforcement claiming she had been held hostage and tortured by her boyfriend, 42-year-old Clyde Harshaw. She said she was finally able to make her escape through a screen door Harshaw had left open and that a passerby found her along a road and helped get her to safety.
According to Sheriff Joel Kerns, Harshaw used extension cords and rope to tie up his girlfriend, then tortured her by trying to set her hair on fire and ripping it out with a drill. “She alleged that he had taken a drill, with a bit still on it, put it at her head and turn the drill on. The hair would catch up in the drill and pull patches of hair out,” said Kerns.
The victim also claimed Harshaw beat her with a hammer, cut her with a knife, poured acid on her wounds, and much, much more as evident from the charges filed against him.…Continue Reading
BANGOR, ME —Earlier this month we reported that 20-year-old Kyle Dube had been charged with the murder of 15-year-old Nichole Cable. Yesterday an affidavit reveals that Nichole died after Kyle intended to kidnap Nichole, hide her and then find her so he could be deemed a hero. Unfortunately for Nichole, Kyle is an idiot who accidentally killed her in the process.
Nichole went missing on Mother’s Day after leaving her home to meet someone she had met on Facebook named Bryan Butterfield. A week later, after receiving information from several sources, police found Nicole’s dead body in a wooded area. The following day, Kyle Dube was charged with intentional and knowing murder.
At the time we first reported on this, there were not a lot of details regarding the relationship between Kyle and Nichole. The information in the affidavit fills in some of those blanks. Turns out Kyle had made sexual advances towards Nichole, but Nichole had turned him down. Kyle then created a fake Facebook profile using someone else’s identity and began communicating online with Nichole.…Continue Reading
New Zealand – Ana Eriepa is recovering in the hospital after the 37-year-old was kidnapped by her boyfriend and then dragged down the highway after escaping from the trunk of a car.
According to police, Eriepa left with her new boyfriend, 27-year-old Sonny Te Aramoana Waiti, to buy a new Subaru. Not a lot of details on what happened after the car was purchased, but at some point Waiti placed Eriepa in the trunk of her new car and then took off down the highway.
Eriepa managed to unlock the trunk of the car as it was speeding down the highway but her escape turned pear-shaped after her leg somehow managed to get stuck while climbing out. This resulted in her being dragged for a mile at a high rate of speed.
Onlookers described the scene as horrific, stating Eriepa’s body was “bouncing up and down, like a dummy.” Others said she resembled a bag of trash, or a sack of meat, more than she resembled a human being.
After finally falling free from the car, other motorists ran to help her.…Continue Reading
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Would-be kidnapper David Jesus Hernandez is in custody after a New Mexico mother, alerted by a group of teenagers that he’d just taken her 4-year-old daughter, chased the man down, ramming his vehicle with her own.
The woman, who wasn’t identified, apparently didn’t know that the 31-year-old kidnapper had shoved the girl out of the car before the chase began.
“Albuquerque police Chief Ray Schultz said neighbors began yelling, which is what made the suspect push the child out of his car,” KOAT TV reported.
KQRE reported that the mother was in contact with Albuquerque police during the hot-civilian-pursuit, which started shortly after six p.m. on Indian School Rd, near the family’s apartment.
The chase lasted all the way through the North Valley and finished in the Southeast Heights, when the feisty mom went all Grand-Child-Theft-Auto on Hernandez, and slammed her car into his. Hernandez abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.
Police launched a manhunt which included more than two dozen officers going door-to-door in efforts to locate Hernandez, as well as a helicopter equipped with heat-seeking capabilities.…Continue Reading
Matteson, IL – Xenia Jaimes and her parents are facing a slew of very serious charges after police say they kidnapped and beat Xenia’s former boyfriend after he threatened to post nude images of the 18-year-old.
According to court records, the 19-year-old victim was having a casual sexual relationship with 18-year-old Xenia Jaimes. At some point during their relationship, Xenia stripped during a video chat and allowed the victim to photograph her nude with his cell phone.
Things between the two turned sour after Xenia went to a social networking website and accused the victim of stealing her iPad. The teen claims he had taken the device by mistake and had immediately returned it. When he discovered her online accusation, he threatened to post some of the nude photographs of Xenia he had if she didn’t call him to talk about the alleged theft.
On Jan 15, Xenia texted the victim and told him to come to her family’s house so they could talk. Once the teen arrived at the home, Xenia led him down to the basement where he was ambushed by five people wearing ski masks and holding metal pipes and, in the case of one of the masked individuals, a walking crutch.…Continue Reading
PORT RICHEY, FL – A mother in Florida is praising a group of teenagers for possibly saving the lives of two children after a man tried grabbing them while they were visiting a local park.
At around dusk Saturday, 28-year-old Sharaya Smith said she’d taken her young daughter and nephew to play at Lake Lisa Park and eat pizza. As they walked through the park’s parking lot, she noticed a group of teenagers playing loud music, kissing and cursing. “We’re trying to have a pizza party,” Smith remembers telling them. “And my kids don’t need to hear your mouths.”
A short while later, while her daughter and nephew played on a slide, she noticed 34-year-old Bienvenido Cintron nearby. He was disheveled, wearing a tan trench coat, and spouting out verses from the Bible he was carrying. Cintron made his way over to Smith, who had already collected the two children, and began yelling at her, stating he was Obama and was sent to rid the world of drug dealers and prostitutes.…Continue Reading
WEST GOSHEN, PA - Lirim Rufati, a 24-year-old West Goshen man, is facing kidnapping and rape charges after he allegedly abused and raped his wife for about a year the tried to deport her as punishment for talking to police.
The victim, who is not being named by police, is a 22-year-old Macedonian citizen who met Rufati in her home country. Rufati was introduced to the woman and her family by his uncle. The families arranged the marriage and the couple moved to the United States shortly after their vows.
While in the States, the victim became friends with a neighbor and informed her that Rufati was repeatedly abusing her. She asked the neighbor to call police if she ever heard screams or any other unusual sounds coming from her apartment. On Jan 2, that neighbor called police after hearing an altercation in Rufati’s apartment.
Police interviewed the victim and she told them that Rufati had been abusing her, physically and sexually, for almost a year. Police ended up taking her to a hotel for the night, but Rufati tracked her down the next day.…Continue Reading
Portland, OR — There is certainly no shortage of domestic assault stories here at the Dreamin’ Demon, and while domestic violence is no laughing matter, the “weapons” some of the alleged abusers use make me giggle. A little.
Caleb “Damn, he’d be really fucking hot if he lost some of that excess hair” Grotberg, 32, was recently booked on a laundry list of charges after allegedly strangling his girlfriend with his dreadlocks.
Police were called to the couple’s home early Monday morning, where they learned from the girlfriend that Grotberg had assaulted her and attempted to strangle her with his hair after the two argued.
Grotberg was not at the scene when officers arrived, but was quickly picked up after the victim described his ‘do.
He’s now behind bars, facing domestic violence-related charges that include kidnapping, attempted assault, assault, menacing and strangulation.
The woman was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment to numerous injuries, none of which were considered life-threatening.Continue Reading
Upper Darby, PA – Three teens have been arrested after police say they kidnapped a woman in front of a bar on Christmas, then drove around raping her for five hours.
“These guys treated her like dirt,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. “They were total animals as far as I’m concerned.”
The 22-year-old victim was sitting in her Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of George’s Water Ice waiting for her boyfriend to arrive. At about 11:40 p.m., Kevin Jones, Kewon Matthews and Brehon Rawlings forced their way into her vehicle at gunpoint and made her get into the backseat.
For the next five hours, police say the men beat the woman and took turns forcing her to perform sex acts on them, even though she was repeatedly vomiting on them. After robbing her of her Coach purse, wallet, car stereo, cellphone, camera, GPS, ruby ring, diamond necklace, bracelet and her insurance and registration paperwork, they threw her keys under the car and fled on foot.
The woman waited a few minutes before retrieving her keys and driving to her boyfriend’s house.…Continue Reading
Knoxville, TN — Robert Atkins, 31, is facing a whole slew of charges after allegedly roughing up his ex-girlfriend/baby mamma and taking off with her infant because she refused to make his dumb ass some Kool-Aid.
Atkins apparently showed up at the woman’s house in the early morning hours of December 10. Because a restraining order was in place, the woman pleaded with Atkins’ ride to take him away… she didn’t want him there. Atkins, apparently unfazed by a piece of paper that says where he can and can’t be, refused to leave.
I’m assuming he entered the woman’s home and made himself comfortable. Around 4:30 that morning, he demanded the woman whip him up a batch of Kool-Aid. When she refused, Atkins reportedly attacked, hitting the woman in the face.
The woman tried to escape into the bathroom, but Atkins followed and continued to assault her.
The woman told police Atkins took her keys and cellphone and placed a couch in front of the front door. She said she contemplated sneaking out a bedroom window, but Atkins had their 3-month-old son.…Continue Reading
Forest Hills, NY – Gilberto Valle, a married 6-year veteran of the New York Police Department, was arrested in Queens yesterday on charges that he was conspiring to kidnap, rape, cook, and eat a number of female acquaintances.
Pretty much all the evidence against the 28-year-old Valle is in the form of e-mails and instant messages which discussed his plans to “kidnap, rape, torture, kill, cook and eat body parts of a number of women,” according to the complaint against the officer. Though Valle, who works at the 26th Precinct in Manhattan, never actually followed through on any of his plans, the evidence was enough to officially charge him with federal kidnapping conspiracy.
It’s pretty clear that Valle put some serious thought into his plots though. In one conversation with a co-conspirator, he mentioned that he would like cook someone “over a low heat, keep her alive as long as possible,” according to the complaint, which describes two specific plans.
The first plan allegedly involved a $5,000 kidnap-for-hire in which Valle believed that his customer was interested in raping the woman in question.…Continue Reading
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Terry Lee Black, the 41-year-old man accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering 6-year-old Sierra Newbold, made his first court appearance today.
For those of you who missed the story, Sierra was reported missing by her mother on the morning of June 26 after she woke up to find that her daughter was not in the house. Thirty minutes later, the little girl was found dead, floating face down in a nearby canal.
Autopsy reports would show that Sierra died from drowning, but that she had also been raped, strangled and beaten.
A video camera mounted on Newbold’s home captured a man entering through a sliding glass door at around 3:00 a.m. and leave moments later carrying something. Police would also find Sierra’s pink pajama bottoms and underwear in a burnt out field a short distance from Sierra’s home.
Three days later, Black was arrested shortly after robbing a Wells Fargo bank in West Jordan. He got caught after leaving the bank and returning to a Jeep he had stolen earlier.…Continue Reading
