Mother Pulled Over With Baby Zipped in PurseCHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands – A Virgin Islands mother may face criminal charges after she was caught driving with her newborn baby zipped in her purse.

The woman was pulled over for a cracked windshield on Tuesday. While asking for her driver’s license, the police officer heard a baby crying but couldn’t see a baby or car seat in the vehicle.

When the woman was asked for the infant’s location, she unzipped a purse sitting in the passenger and revealed a newborn. She told the police that she gave birth to the baby girl at home a week ago and claimed she was on the way to the hospital when she was pulled over.

EMTs arrived on the scene and transported the baby girl to the hospital for evaluation. There’s been no reports on her condition. The mother was transported to the hospital as well, where other officers brought her a car seat to use.

The woman has not been charged with anything at this time, but the Department of Human Services is investigating and criminal charges may be filed against her once they are done. The name and age of the mother have not been disclosed.

Just buy her a car seat and let her take the baby home. What a brilliant idea! Idiots.

  • xJustagirlx

I won’t be surprised if mom/baby end up on DD again in the near future…

  • newstarshipsmell

In the mother’s defense, at least her baby was safely sealed away in the unfortunate event that her cracked windshield shattered and rained shards of glass into the car.

  • malq

My guess is she didnt want to get a ticket for not having the baby stapped in so she Gucci’ed it.

  • sugarpie

She was probably taking the baby to drop it off (safe drop) so no one knew.  Maybe her family didn’t know and that’s why she was hiding it in her purse.  If this is the case, at least she didn’t kill the lil sweetie.

I just looked in my purse – I found a plastic penguin and  T-Rex, a package of Disney’s Cars Kleenex, way more pennies than I have use for, an empty container for muscle relaxers, my wallet and a few lip glosses.   Thank God there were no babies in there.  I have two and DO NOT need any more.

  • JohnQknowitall

I guess the closet is for when she goes to work.

I really hope she was on the way to the hospital, but I’m not convinced!

  • xJustagirlx

Me neither. A WEEK later? Pshh.

  • kimbev69

Was there other stuff in the purse cause my first thought is she was so gonna drop that baby off a bridge or something and was she even headed towards a hospital? Something is hinky

  • xJustagirlx

    I concur.

Guess the baby’s out of the bag, now! *rimshot*

I am unfamiliar with the Virgin Islands. Are purse-babies legal tender there? And if so, would the baby be worth more the older it is? Kind of like an in-purse-living-savings-plan?

Anyone who puts a baby in a bag can’t be trusted!!!

  • LeaveMeBe

I was scared to look in mine when I read this story yesterday. Like you, I do not need any more babies. And since when did the Baby Fairy go around putting them in purses? That particular fairy needs to be retrained.

  • CT

I know I was shaking.  I was terrified as to what I might find.  Especially since my cell phone ringer is Peter Gabriel’s Shock the Monkey – I head that ringing in there after I read this and was scared shitless until I remembered it was only my phone.

Powerade Zero successfully shot out of my nose.  Thanks.

Maybe she thinks she is a kangaroo.Either that or just a plain idiot.

I’m happy that the baby was alive. The baby was a week old and alive. Thank God.

  • JGo555

I hope she NEVER sees that baby again! I’ve been to the V.I. USA & that place is more motherfucking hot than in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic because it is closer to the Equator.

By zipping that baby in the purse, that woman KNEW she was going to suffocate that baby. No compassion for her whatsoever.

  • JGo555

    Touché.

  • newstarshipsmell

That might make sense if it were a fanny pack. Wait, no, that wouldn’t make any sense at all. I’m going with “plain idiot.”

  • Texas Ranger

I was thinking no big deal here for a minute…Aren’t all babies carried in your meat purse? Till it said her ‘purse” was on the passenger seat..and well that gave me all kinds of weird thoughts. Anyways nevermind.

Wait a minute. Who even says this woman is the mother? How do we know that there isn’t a dead, gutted woman rotting under the bed? This just screams “fetus snatching” to me.

  • Coyote

What if this was a young woman who had this baby at home, scared and alone and just didn’t know any better?  Maybe she was actually trying to do the right thing and her purse was the only secure thing she had to transport and or hide this baby?  She wasn’t charged and only should be if circumstances show she had criminal or malicious intent.

  • newstarshipsmell

I would hope that if she went to the effort of killing/gutting a pregnant woman to steal this baby, that she would have the sense to take better care of it than zipping it up in a purse. But then again, maybe that’s what I should expect from someone who killed/gutted a pregnant woman to steal her baby.

  • xJustagirlx

I’ve been wrong before, but I’m pretty sure zipping a baby up in a purse might make it difficult for the baby to breathe. I could understand if she panicked and wasn’t thinking straight, but she wasn’t taking the baby to the “hospital” immediately after giving birth. She delivered the baby ONE WEEK earlier. If she immediately didnt know better- she had a week to learn better.

  • Jemimabean

When I picture a baby popping out of a handbag (“Honey, look what I picked up today!”) I think of those dreadful photo shoots of Eastern European children who have been adopted by Western parents- you know the kind, with the kid in it’s Christmas clothes, popping out of a huge giftbox, “It’s MEEE, your present from the Ukraine! Hooray!”

  • DangerousKindOfSnark

Suddenly, appliances don’t sound so bad.

  • Abroad

I cannot believe nobody has commented on virgins and immaculate conception yet? Maybe it is the wrong time of year?

Quite apart from that, I would really like to know how large that “purse” is. I know you use “purse” for handbag; but handbags come in many sizes…….

  • Jemimabean

Apparently, it’s easier to send the children back. Like that stupid bitch who put her kid on a plane to Moscow. “Next time, whore, get a blender instead!”

  • http://talkinshitwithshannieandboo.blogspot.com/ BooBooKittyFuck

Seeing as how vagina’s are the new handbag, it makes perfect sense that she would zip a baby up in a purse. Make him feel all coddled and cozy like when he was in his “first apartment”…

  • Babydoll0630

Whenever I read stories like this it just makes me want to hold the child and let them know it’s ok……I’m always felt w/some type of void.  I guess that’s just the mommy in me.  Glad the baby is safe..but I still feel so uneasy.

  • ultracreep

They did go to the hospital and there I’m pretty sure they not only evaluated the baby but the mother as well. They can tell if a woman’s given birth or not.

  • lizard_spock

Part of me was wondering is she was just a disciple of those women (you know who they are) who carry their lap dogs around in their purses.

Aside from that, the picture in this article is too freaking cute.

It reminds me of those stupid fashion mag lists of what’s in and out.

Out – dogs as fashion accessories
In – Babies as handbag filler

  • onlyme356

I don’t believe she was driving to the hospital, but if she was, it was most likely to discretely drop the baby off.

my guess is he stopped another murder just in time , she was problly on her way to toss the purse and baby off a bridge
