Missing Woman Found Rotting Under Motel Bed

Memphis – This is some crazy shit right out of a bad movie. A mother of five went missing back in January and it turns out that for the last few months, her dead body had been hidden in the metal box frame of a bed in the motel room she had been living. Sony Millbrook had been reported missing back on January 27th after she failed to pick her kids up from school. Police began an initial investigation, but in the meantime Millbrook’s belongings were boxed up and the room at the Budget Inn rented back out at least five times since then. It wasn’t until this past Monday that police were called after employees began investigating a foul odor and discovered Millbrook’s corpse hidden in the bed. Police say it is apparent that she was the victim of a homicide, but have not released the cause of death.  Her boyfriend, LaKeith Moody, was questioned early on and has been in jail ever since on a federal gun charge. He is a person of interest in Millbrook’s death.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicI feel bad for the victim’s kids and family losing a loved one in this manner, and hopefully justice will be served on the person(s) responsible. Millbrook’s sister claims she begged for the staff to search the room but that they refused to do so. Hell, now it’s being reported that even the police investigating the disappearance never actually searched the room. So now the tragedy of losing a loved one will be made worse by news sites, and blogs like ours, who will focus on the fact that a body had been rotting under a mattress people were sleeping on.

But HOLY FUCKING HEEBIE-JEEBIES! How many of you have not talked about this exact scenario…or thought of it when staying in a hotel? I mean I am a morbid son of a bitch, so I ALWAYS think there is a body stuffed under a bed when I stay in a hotel. I know this cannot be the first time this has ever happened, but it is the first I can remember posting about here. Cripes. The thought of sleeping soundly on a bed while a woman was rotting mere inches below you is just CREEPY AS HELL.

Let’s hear some of your motel\hotel horrors. I am sure no one can beat the fact that at least five people slept on top of a dead woman, but let’s find out. Personally, aside from some messy business in a motel bathtub and a hooker, the worst experience I ever had was at the Astro motel in Myrtle Beach, SC. Me and a girlfriend arrived during a holiday weekend on a spur of the moment trip, and found there were no rooms anywhere aside from the Astro. We spent the night laying on top of our beach towels while listening to meth heads run back and forth outside screaming and banging on the doors. Hell, our room had a pentagram BURNED into the floor.

The fact that it took someone MONTHS to notice that the stench of rotting flesh ( which is pretty unmistakable ) was a little out of the ordinary, doesn't make me want to visit that lovely establishment anytime soon.

Ugh, this made me think of Melinda Hinson, the 13-year-old raped and murdered by Matthew Caylor in Panama City back in '08. After he killed her, he stuffed her under the hotel bed, and a truck driver rented the room and slept above her body that next night. Holy fucking heebie jeebies covers this scenario perfectly.
  • I KNEW we had something similar posted here but I just could not remember it. You wrote up the story back in '08:

    Good AM Morbid,

Read the headlines, Justice is seved up in Va. on a platter. Every state should take care of azzwipes like this. Would be allot less crime:

CNN) -- The murderer of a 16-year-old girl who bragged about his crimes was electrocuted Thursday night, a spokesman for the Virginia Department of Corrections said.

Paul Warner Powell was pronounced dead at 9:09 p.m. at a correctional center in Jarratt, Virginia. He did not make a last statement at the execution attended by the victim's family.

Powell was convicted in the 1999 murder of Stacie Reed and the rape of her 14-year-old sister in their Manassas, Virginia, family home.

Yeah, I had to look it up because I couldn't remember how long is was before Melinda's body was found--only about a day and a half. I really am floored that Sony's body was under the bed, decomposing, for MONTHS before someone noticed a smell.

Maybe the motel is right next door to the local dump? And it was winter when she was murdered. Not so much insect life.......

    Still boggles the mind.
  • captainhowdy
thinking of the scene in four rooms!! EEP!!
  • Exactly! I still laugh when I think of Tim Roth barfing and saying 'what the fuck' when he sees the dead whore.
  • Lori
how about staying next door to a couple "banging" all night, she was screaming like he was beating the crap out of her!
  • Abroad
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. And not only at motels, either. At least there you don't have the face the fuckers on the stairs the next day, - and a week later ....... and two months later......
  • remember
Ever seen "Four Rooms"...remember the whore in the bedspring with the kiddies?

Years ago my boyfriend and I stayed the night at this really low budget hotel in Vista, CA. We woke up in the middle of the night to see some dude we had never seen before sitting in a chair across from the bed watching us sleep. When we turned on the light, he looked really shocked and he jumped up and said, "You're not my wife!" and ran out the door. Later when the cops came they told us the guy had apparently scaled a 20 foot cliff behind the patio in order to enter through the sliding glass door, which just happened to have a broken lock.

I just thought it was weird and shrugged it off at the time. Now I realize we were probably very lucky nothing bad happened.
  • he looked really shocked and he jumped up and said, "You're not my wife!" and ran out the door

That was really funny the first three times it happened to me.....after the seventh, it lost a little of it's punch.

About three years ago, my husband had to travel to Iowa for work. They were gone for 6 weeks and had to stay in a hotel while out there. Well one night, he was going back to his room and was approached by a woman asking for a ride somewhere. He said no, and went on to his room. Turns out she had been knocking on all the doors trying to get someone to let her in. Two rooms down from his, a married couple let her in. She had two guys hiding out in the parking lot waiting for it, and they forced their way into the room once she got there. They both raped the woman in the room, then robbed and murdered both of them.

The worst I have ever personally found in a motel I was staying at was some pecker prints on the comforter. It and the blanket hit the floor before I got into bed.

I used to work at a motel, though. Mercifully, my mind is a blank regarding what I found there.

Yes Sir ree Morbid, My heart goes out the the children they are the ones who always suffer the most in these instances. Hopefully the person responsible wheather it is Lakeith Moody or one of her associates gets the death penalty for being a worthless crack head murdering piece of crap unworthy of the afterbirth it took to make them.

Funny you mention Myrtle Beach S.C. cause me and my wife and 5 children were assleep at the Cheeze Motel Oceanfront of course and about 3:00 am my wife woke me up and stated Kev go over there he's killing her. A guy was yelling at his wife and there were loud noises like IPG's going off and screams and shreaks from hell.

I managed to go back to sleep when she woke me again to yet more screams so I did what any intelligent Marine would do, I called the Law people!!!!!!!!

They showed up and the he stated the children were the ones who were screaming and this is a every day occurence and didn't even arrest the guy. They would have thrown me in the slammer and the next day the guy and his family checked out of the roach motel never to be seen or heard of again.

I am sure I will be reading about this crack head in the future on this forum somewhere and when I do I will be sure to flag That's the guy That's the guy!
  • I absolutely CANNOT sleep under the covers in a hotel, or put my head on the pillows. Even the expensive ones. A rich man can shoot his load all over the sheets of a bed as easy as a poor one. Either way, I'm not laying in it.
  • Omalley
I like to bring my own sheets, blanket, & pillow...When we were dating hub actually bought me a large bag to hold my down comforter & pillow. It's not possible to bring all that stuff now that the family is larger so I have to 'make do'. I just try not to think about it...
  • Having learned from past experience, I now have a ritual that must be performed before settling in to a motel room. The ritual begins with a scan of the entire room for hidden cameras. Then the entire bed must be checked for foreign hairs, objects, bugs and dead bodies. Oh, I now travel with a value size can of Lysol.
  • Siobhan
I also find that a portable black lamp is a necessity for all hotel/motel stays and camping trips, and I have a personal fluoresce count limit of three - more than that, and I'm outta there and sleeping in my truck.
  • cplpunishment
How do you know that the mirror isnt a double with a camera behind it? They are ususally mounted firmly to the wall?
  • If I can't guarantee myself there isn't a camera behind the mirror, I don't get nekkid in front of it. =)
  • EveryVillainIsLemons
I figure that if they put a hidden camera in my room, they deserve the psychological scarring, so I make a point of walking around the room naked.
