Rachael Jankins Was Driving On Sunshine
September 11, 2009 by Morbid
UPPER DARBY, Pa. – Back in AugustAugust reviews
, 20-year-old Rachael Jenkins told police she was trying to retrieve her dropped iPod when her Hyundai crossed two lanes of traffic, went on to a sidewalk and struck Nicole Gallo, 19, and Christine Bochanski, 20. Gallo was killed immediately and Bochanski suffered serious injuries, including a broken back, and was hospitalized for two weeks. But toxicology reports later came back showing that Jankins had some THC and difluoroethane in her blood. What the fuck is difluoroethane, you may ask? It’s the chemical found computer-cleaning spray. Exactly like the can of Dust-Off that was found in Jankins’ car on the day of the accident.
Jankins has now been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter. Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood Sr. said Jankins was “under the impairing and psychoactive effects” of the inhalant at the time of the accident. “We believe that at some point in time before the accident she took the can of DustDust reviews
-Off and sprayed it in her mouth to get the effect of a high,” Chitwood said. “We have now gone from a horrible accident to a criminal investigation.”
The accident happened right outside of Delaware County Memorial Hospital, and there are no brake marks indicating she attempted any form of evasive maneuver before hitting and killing Gallo, who graduated Archbishop Prendergast High School last year. Jankins only suffered minor injuries from being trapped in her car and stated she never remembered hitting the women or even seeing them. I wonder why? Let’s go to Allison, our resident Dust-Off expert, for some possible explanations:
Oh, ok…gotcha. Now it all makes perfect sense. Jesus Christ some of you people out there are pathetic. If you are inhaling this shit to get high, could you please stay indoors and film it? The public thanks you. Fuck…you huffers ever heard of meth?

I know it is really wrong of me and earns me a ticket to Hell (I truly hope Allison got help and is off that shit), but I laugh every single time I watch that video.

It’s a tough call for “Most Fucked-Up Subject of the Television Show Intervention,” but I really think Allison here is the worst. I watched this episode a couple of weeks ago and hubby and I were hyperventilating with laughter. How anyone this girl Allison comes in contact with doesn’t punch her in the face I have no idea. Her behavior was that of a toddler on crack.
At least A&E intervened before she killed anyone, unlike stupid twat Rachael here.

its nuts..i was up the street shopping when it happened the had the entire street blocked it was crazy!!!i hate my home town!!!!

So, this chicklet is a can-whore instead of a crack whore? What’s next? The video is great; while it’s not the girl in this story, I’m sure it represents how her sad and sorry life is led… However, I think this should be vehicular murder ~ when anyone intentionally loses their hold on reality via use of any substance, illegal or not, they may as well grab a gun and start shooting… when it results in death, they should be held accountable for all of their actions.

Morbid, my bad. I must have been reading too quickly ~ I missed the homicide charge but saw involuntary manslaughter. You’re right, and it’s right!

the girl who got killed was a hard worker.she worked at bucks..6 days aweek its a shame she her life to a crack whore!!!!

Crack whore? Just seems like one of life’s tragedies in which someone lost their life due to someone’s decision to drive while under the influence. For all we know, it was Rankin’s first time ever inhaling.

Allison ROCKS!! I, too, enjoy that video and I even got sucked into watching all her Interventions videos.
2:16 pm on September 11th, 2009
So did Allison get/stay clean after her interventions?
2:30 pm on September 11th, 2009
From what I can find, she has been clean for a year and is doing great in her new apartment in LA. Oh, and her hair is lighter.

Allison was pretty bad but Christy in my opinion was the worst intervention case. I hope the best to Allison but that video is high-larious.

Lol..I’ll never think of that song quite the same way, yes… those lyrics will now be accompanied by a vision of The Deranged Alice..*sniff* ..this is the stuff of fond memories. In all honesty, I do feel a little sorry for Rachel, (so sue me will ya?) only twenty years old and facing a life sentence to do nothing BUT remember. Not trying to minmize what she did, I’m just sayin’..course, it’s like my dad always said “You can do anything you want in this life, as long as you’re ready to accept the consequences.”

Your father is a wise man, defenetratethis. (And can I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your choice of handle here on D’D?)

Yes he is, had I only listened to him I wouldnt be kicking myself for having defenestrated so many of lifes opportunites…lol

Never, ever will I “get it” when it comes to huffing. Never. Fuck, I had trouble using my inhaler when the doc thought I was a touch asthmatic! lol. Can’t use nose sprays cuz I feel like I’m fucking drowning when it hits!
When my oldest 2 kids (now 22 and 23) were in their mid to late teens, they came clean about drug experimentation. I expected to hear marijuana and alcohol – and was even trying to prepare myself for an experimentation with cocaine – but I damn near fainted – and I cried like a friggen baby when they said they had tried huffing once. Then I thanked God (when I was still relatively sure there was one) that they lived to tell me about it. I had read the stories about kids DYING the first time they tried it, and seen those addicted to it so obviously brain damaged. I thought I had warned my kids and educated them – but it apparently wasn’t nearly enough.
There needs to be PSA’s about this shit. 10 times a day, every day. People are all up in arms about marijuana, alcohol and kids stealing their parents prescriptions (not to mention tobacco) – but a bigger danger is lurking under their kitchen sinks and on every store shelf in America. You’ll never be able to regulate household chemicals the way you do other drugs – so without exhaustive, incessant education – this shit will keep on happening and can only get worse.
RIP Nicole. Christine, I hope you heal completely. So sorry this happened to both these young women. As for Rachel, I am sad that not only did she choose to damage herself through the use of an inhalant – but that she also chose to get behind the wheel of her car thus turning it into a deadly weapon. She’ll live with the consequences of that choice for the rest of her life (hopefully most of it behind bars)- as will the parents of the girl she killed and Christine and her family.
1 life lost, 2 changed forever. And for what?
A 5 minute “high”.
4:20 pm on September 13th, 2009
I never really gave this much thought, but you are right! It was popular when I was in HS, and it looks like it still is. And it’s obviously as dangerous, if not more so (due ot its availability), than the other substances you mention in your post. And it’s a shame what the result was in this instance. Like you, I hope the surviving victim fully recovers, and I do believe that Rachel must, indeed, pay for her incredible lack of judgment.
11:10 pm on September 13th, 2009
Man has been figuring out ways to get “high” for thousands of years..from the accidental discovery of fermented fruit to..well, household products. For some reason, living in the present reality is not enough for many of us, so we ride the wave to a different one. Sad, really..cuz life aint that bad. Like you say Zibarro..so much damage done here, all for the sake of a 5 minute high.

I feel bad for her friend that made it, she’ll probably have survivors guilt. Too many lives ruined by a dumb, dumb decision. I mean she couldn’t wait a few minutes till she got to her destination or just pulled over. I hope she fries!

I had a friend who died from huffing butane. He and a friend were doing it on a summer night. His friend said that all of the sudden, Clint looked over at him and said he wasn’t feeling well. So he asked him to pull over to a gas station so that he could use the restroom. When Clint got back into the car, he began foaming at the mouth and then shaking. His friend was scared to take him to the hospital, so instead he drove him home which was about 8 miles away. (The hospital was less than one mile from the gas station they were at). By the time he got Clint to his parents house, Clint was dead. Apparently, the butane caused an aneurysm. Anyway, imganie the pain these parents felt when their sons friend brought them their dead son. They ran out to the car and he was blue in the lips… when the paramedics got to the home and pulled him from the car, a can of butane fell out of his coat.
