Who Shot Principal Hunt?

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C – I’m posting this story because I feel bad for this guy and his family, and would like to help them out in any way I can. James A Hunt, Principal of Fairmont Middle School, was driving to school early the morning of April 9, on a two-lane country road, when a pickup truck approached him from behind, pulled alongside, and fired a shotgun blast into his face and hand. Amazingly, he survived after driving himself to the hospital before being flown to Duke Medical Center. He is now facing mounting medical bills resulting from the work performed to repair the severe facial injuries he suffered and the shooter remains at large.
In case you couldn’t watch the video, Hunt describes the shooting and the injuries he suffered. He believes the shooting could be gang related resulting from a Stop the Violence anti-gang rally he held at his school two days before he was shot. Detectives have not confirmed or denied this attack was gang related. “We’ve been following on those leads. We’ve worked this case constantly. It’s been difficult,” said Major Howard Branch, with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. Hunt is considering contacting the FBI and America’s Most Wanted about his case.
Now so you guys know, I do not know this gentleman, nor have I ever corresponded with him. I am merely came across his story and his blog and want to see the individual(s) who carried out this act apprehended. Mr. Hunt is asking for donations on his site, as he’s been denied workers compensation because his injuries are not considered work related, but I am neither encouraging or discouraging anyone from doing so. That’s up to you. I am simply posting the story because the crime itself seems so deliberate and the family is now in hiding, not knowing if the shooter will attempt to finish what he had started. I figure any bit of publicity this case can get, the better.

Great write up and informing us as to the story. Most definitely will try and help any way I possibly can. So sorry to him and his family for having to feel this way and have to go into hiding…?????????????????Well the family needs to be safe… For the COWARD SHOOTER, COME OUT OF HIDING TOUGH GUY, yeah that is what we thought not so tough pussy

Wow, I am glad to see that he made it, though I could not imagine the rehab, pain, cost, and fear involved.
I have always respected teachers/school admin who work in troubled areas. I don’t know how bad this area is but I’m assuming it’s bad enough if he had the need to give anti-gang programs and obviously suspects gang activity in this. I grew up with the old Stand By Me type of movies.
I hope that he gets the help he needs to overcome all the obstacles he is now facing and I hope that something happens to crack the case.
Maybe once it’s solved, he can be the inspiration for a new generation of Stand By Me movies!

I mean no disrespect to Mr. Hunt when I say this, but how many of you are just going crazy wanting to know what he looks like under that mask? It’s probably just my morbid curiosity.
What would be cooler would be if they don’t find the shooter, and Mr. Hunt gets super pissed about it. He dons a mask to hide the damage to his face, and wages a one-man war against the people responsible. I think I may start on the screenplay this afternoon!

I can’t believe this man was able to drive himself to the hospital after being shot. How badass is that! It is very sad that there are no programs or assistance for him and his family. He was involved in a violent crime and now he is in hiding, but yeah it’s not work related so screw you…..I could go all political, but ehh I just don’t feel like getting into it. Hope they catch the shooter soon and his life can go back to some normalcy!
