VENTNOR, NJ – A woman confessed to bludgeoning her mother and grandmother to death in their condo on July 7th.

Heather Barbera, 42, evidently wanted to live it up and have a rip-roaring time in Atlantic City and later in Manhattan.

However, she needed a way to fund her luxurious desires.

So, according to reports, Barbera used a nightstick to beat her mom and granny to death. She then took their cash and credit cards before hightailing it to Atlantic City.

The bodies of the two women – 67-year-old Michelle Gordon and 81-year-old Elaine Rosen – were discovered by Barbera’s uncle. He’d stopped by the condo on July 8th to see why they were not answering his calls.

“It was unimaginable,” he said. “It was horrible, they were both on the floor. There was blood all over. I was hoping they were alive, even though they were dead.”

Police didn’t have a hard time finding Barbera as she was leaving a credit card trail all over Manhattan as she stayed in a luxury hotel and enjoyed a shopping spree as she walked toward Times Square.…

ALLOWAY, NJ – A woman has been arrested after she passed out in the front seat of her car for hours and her 2-year-old daughter fatally injured herself while trying to escape her car seat.

Deanna Joseph, 39, called 911 around 9:45 p.m. to report her daughter was unresponsive. When police arrived at the scene they found the girl dead in her car seat in a car running in the driveway.

After questioning Joseph, police determined she had pulled into her driveway and passed out for hours with the car running and the heater running. During this time, her daughter struggled to get out of her car seat and may have accidentally hanged herself in the straps.

Salem County Prosecutor John T. Lenahan said the child had no obvious signs of blunt force trauma and the exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office. My guess it will be either asphyxiation, heat exhaustion or a combination of both.

Joseph was charged with second-degree child endangerment, charges that I am sure will be upgraded once an official cause of death is determined, and especially considering Joseph’s history of doing this exact, same thing multiple times in the past.…

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Police say a 10-year-old girl was electrocuted in a lagoon behind a home in New Jersey.

The incident happened Saturday night in a waterfront section of Toms River known as Shelter Cove, where 11 -year-old Kayla Matos was visiting friends.

Matos and two of her friends eventually got in the water where they were swimming and using an inflatable raft. Here’s where the news reports get a little confusing.

From what I can gather, two of the girls touched a rail to a metal boat lift, causing an electric current to energized the equipment. This, in turn, electrocuted Matos.

Adults supervising the children and immediately began performing CPR on the girl until medics arrived.

Matos was rushed to the hospital where she would later die. The other two girls were unharmed.

“It’s like a nightmare we’re living in. It’s just not real. Just not real. She was just a little girl. She loved just simple things,” said one of Matos’ relatives. “She was very excited for a dance coming up.…

BURLINGTON, NJ – Police have arrested a woman after she threw a 5-year-old girl in front of an approaching train.

The incident happened Friday night after a bus driver called police to report a suspicious woman at the New Jersey Transit platform.

When officers approached the woman, identified as 20-year-old Autumn Matacchiera, she grabbed a random 5-year-old girl who had been standing nearby with her mother.

Matacchiera then gave the girl the ol’ heave-ho, tossing her onto the tracks as a train approached.

Luckily, police were able to get in front of the train to signal it to stop as the boyfriend of the girl’s mother got the girl to safety.

The girl was taken to the hospital to treat a facial cut and some bruising, while Matacchiera was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Once she is released, she will be taken to jail on an attempted murder charge.…

SADDLE BROOK, NJ – A couple had to make the tough decision to take their 3-month-old off of life support after being dropped on his head by a babysitter.

Police say Reece Modzelewski was being watched by a female family member on Tuesday when she accidentally dropped him on his head.

When police arrived at the home, Reece was unconscious and unresponsive. He was rushed to the hospital where he was put on life support.

Following his hospitalization, Reece’s father, 32-year-old Mark Modzelewski, posted on Facebook:

My little baby boy is dying and there’s nothing I can do to help or comfort him,’ Mark Modzelewski wrote on his Facebook page Wednesday. ‘I don’t know if he can hear, see, taste or touch anymore. My heart has been torn out of my chest.

A second of misfortune will turn into a lifetime of pain as is the case with most tragedies. The fact that this happening so close to Christmas and right between both of our birthdays will only make it more difficult.

Edward Coles JrWEST DEPTFORD, NJ – Police say 28-year-old Ryan Coles Jr. used his hands and a chair to beat his parents to death.

When a relative was unable to contact Edward Coles Jr, 58, and his wife, 55-year-old Rosemarie, they went to the couple’s home where they found them both dead inside.

Police said that Ryan lived with his parents and beat them to death with his hands and possibly a chair. They also said he was in the house when they arrived. He was calm, they said, and told them his parents were sick.

Autopsies would later determine the couple died from blunt head trauma. Ryan was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being transported to jail on murder and weapons charges. His bail has been set at $1 million.

Neighbors and police say that police often visited the home and that Ryan could often be seen sitting on the stoop talking to himself.

“He seemed a little detached, depressed,” neighbor John Ferencsik told the station. “We didn’t really know that, just know the impression I had was he was a little bit off.”

He also made some odd posts to his Facebook profile, including one in 2015 that read:

“Energy is both created and destroyed.…

Mike DisportoGLOUCESTER, NJ – Here’s an infuriating story to start off your week. Prosecutors allege 22-year-old Michael Disporto sexually assaulted his new girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter before she died of blunt force trauma to the head. Be warned, the following details are pretty horrific.

According to Christine Shah of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, 26-year-old Amber Bobo picked up her 2-year-old daughter, Ariana, from her father’s home Saturday evening and went home.

Disporto, her boyfriend of two weeks, took Ariana to the park to “get to her know her better” and then to a firework show across the street. Bobo did not accompany them because she was too tired to go.

When they got back, Bobo put Ariana to bed in her bedroom and watched television with Disporto before going to bed at around 11 p.m., leaving Disporto to sleep on the couch. When Bobo woke up the following morning, she found Ariana on the couch wrapped in a blanket and her boyfriend outside smoking a cigarette.

Two hours later, at around 9 a.m., Bobo unwrapped her daughter to find she was not in the same clothes as the ones she had on when she put her to bed and, more alarmingly, she had two bruises on both sides of her forehead.…

Ibn HunterATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Ibn Hunter, the 25-year-old arrested after being filmed knocking out a homeless woman, got roughed a bit in jail while being strip searched.

Last Friday, a video was posted to Facebook by someone calling themselves Bdsb BroadDay. You can watch the video below, but it shows Hunter antagonizing a 45-year-old homeless woman who was sitting in Brown’s Park.

Eventually Hunter looks at the camera, does a windup and then sucker punches the woman in the face with a haymaker. Afterwards, the cameraman zooms in on the unconscious woman’s face while Hunter boasts about his cowardly act.

The woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition suffering from serious head trauma. She spent the weekend in the hospital before signing herself out on Monday. That same day, police were able to identify Hunter and arrest him on a charge of aggravated assault.

As can be seen in his mugshot, Hunter got a little taste of his own medicine while being strip searched inside the jail. According to Warden Geraldine Cohen, Hunter lunged at the officer performing the search so the officer introduced Hunter’s face to the floor.…

Jared MarchianoBERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Authorities say 17-year-old Jared Marchiano was killed when a stone slab weighing about 650 pounds fell on him outside a business that makes countertops.

The teen was found by a passing motorist at around 6:40 a.m. Saturday at Stone N’ Counters South in Berkeley Township. According to Ocean County prosecutors, Marchiano was trying to walk between marble and granite slabs when a stone slab fell on top of him.

“Preliminarily, the way it looks, it was a tremendously tragic accident where the young fellow was trying to squeeze or walk between the two slabs and they became dislodged,” Al Della Fave. “Once it fell on him, no one was around to get it off.”

It’s not clear how long he’d been trapped under the stone slab before he was spotted and police were called. Marchiano was pronounced dead shortly after authorities arrived on scene.

The business, which is 10 minutes from the teen’s family home, was closed when the accident occurred, so it’s not clear why the teen was even at the site in the first place. …

Grant Elementary SchoolDUMONT, NJ – Students will return to Grant Elementary School this morning following the death of one of their classmates who jumped out of a classroom’s second-story window.

On Friday, around 20 fifth-graders and a lunch aide were in a classroom for lunch when the 10-year-old boy handed a note to a classmate he had been playing chess with.

He then walked over to an open window and, without saying a word to anyone, jumped out. The boy would die at the hospital from injuries he sustained from landing on a concrete sidewalk 25 feet below.

Officials have not released the boy’s name or the details contained in the note he handed his classmate. A law enforcement source did not describe it as a suicide note, but said suicide is one of the motives being investigated.

The boy hasn’t been at the school long, but another student said he fit in well and had lots of friends. Counselors have been made available for any students, parents or staff who need them.…

Hyphernkemberly DorvilierPEMBERTON, NJ – According to police, 22-year-old Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier killed her baby by dousing her with a flammable liquid and setting her on fire in the middle of the road.

Dave Joseph said he witnessed the incident, which occurred around 11 p.m. Friday night, when Dorvilier got out of her car and lit something on fire in the middle of the road. Joseph said Dorvilier told him she was burning dog waste.

Joseph said she as she was putting the fire out with a water bottle, his wife realized the “dog waste” was actually a baby and she began to scream. Dorvilier attempted to flee the scene, but Joseph stopped her from escaping.

“She was trying to defy what it was. I had her on the ground. I was holding her down because she tried to get away,” he said.

The baby was still alive and breathing when fire and rescue teams arrived on the scene. She was airlifted to St. Christopher’s Hospital but would die two hours later. It was later revealed that the infant had been doused with an accelerant prior to being set ablaze.…

Brendan JordanNEW MILFORD, NJ – A 7-year-old boy was killed inside Berkley Street Elementary School when a folding table attached to a wall fell on his head during a recreational soccer practice.

The accident happened on Wednesday evening inside the school’s gym, which also acts as the school’s cafeteria. When not being used as a cafeteria, fold-down lunch tables and benches, constructed of wood and steel and weighing 100 pounds, are folded into the wall and anchored.

Brendan Jordan was playing with a soccer ball with six of his teammates when he approached one of these recessed benches. For reasons currently unknown, the bench fell out of the wall and struck Jordan in the side of his head. He immediately collapsed and a soccer coach, New Milford police officer Bryan Mone, began administrating CPR.

Despite his attempts, and the attempts of responding emergency services personnel, Jordan would be pronounced dead a short time later after being transported to Hackensack Medical Center.

It is not known if Jordan was messing with the bench before it fell, and School Superintendent Michael Polizzi admitted he didn’t know if the table had been locked properly.…
