FORT IRWIN, CA – Police have accused 24-year-old Rose Marie Smith with the death of her 4-year-old stepson.

Police were called to a home on June 7 on a report of an unresponsive child.

First responders would find 4-year-old Benjamin Schmittle unresponsive after allegedly having a seizure.

He was rushed to the hospital but because of the severity of his injuries, the boy was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center suffering from a brain aneurysm.

Benjamin would die the next day.

Investigators were informed the injuries Benjamin suffered did not appear to be accidental.

After interviewing family members, investigators arrested Rose Marie Schmittle.

She is facing charges of murder and assault on a child causing death and being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center.

According to his family, Benjamin lived with his father and stepmother at the time of the incident. He would have turned five years old in July.…

HENDERSON, NV – A 16-year-old boy died while playing a game of Russian roulette with two other teens inside an abandoned house.

On Friday police tried to pull over a vehicle they witnessed driving recklessly. The car ended up crashing and several teenagers ran from the vehicle.

After failing to flee police and being taken into custody, one of the teens told officers “he had been present during a murder” at an abandoned home earlier that day.

When police investigated the home, they found the body of 16-year-old Matthew Minkler in a closet.

Apparently, Minkler had been playing Russian roulette with 16-year-old Jaiden Caruso and 17-year-old Kody Harlan inside the home earlier that day.

But unlike the typical rules of Russian roulette of the person pulling the trigger themselves, Caruso changed the rules according to Harlan.

Harlan told police that Caruso pulled out a .375-caliber revolver for a game of Russian roulette but “never allowed the other participants to handle the firearm or pull the trigger themselves” during the game.

Caruso ended up shooting Minkler in the face.

BURLINGTON, VT – A fight between two men on a bridge ended with one of them falling off the bridge and the other facing murder charges.

Jared Streeter and Joshua Granger, both 20, have had a long-running rivalry that hinged on them both being interested int he same woman.

The two men decided to settle things with an arranged fight on Saturday at the Blue Bridge.

The bridge is a railroad span over the Winooski River that is commonly traveled on foot as a shortcut between Burlington and Winooski.

The fight had its own set of rules, the main one being that no weapons would be allowed. The two men showed up, along with a small crowd, and the fight began.

According to witness statements, the crowd advanced toward the fight, causing the two men to back up toward the bridge.

At some point, Streeter got knocked out and hit his head on a metal railing. He reportedly was “sleeping for a good two seconds.”

Sleeter managed to get back up and resume fighting but he was visibly groggy.…

PEARL RIVER, LA – A 20-year-old woman has been accused of beating a 46-year-old man to death who was recovering from brain tumor surgery.

While people were out enjoying themselves on the Pearl River on Saturday, an argument started between two large groups at a sandbar.

Apparently, the disagreement was over one group throwing bottles into the river and the other group telling them to stop.

Jeffrey Howell, 46, was a part of the latter group. He had recently survived a brain tumor surgery and still had the staples in his head.

The argument turned physical and Howell ended up dead from blunt-force trauma to the head. An autopsy would later reveal Howell had been hit near the scar from his surgery.

“If you cup your hand behind your left ear, that’s where the incision was,” said St. Tammany Coroner Dr. Charles Preston.

After talking with witnesses at the scene, 20-year-old Blaine Manalle was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. She’s currently in the St Tammany Parish Jail with a $250,000 bond.…

WICHITA, KS – Emily Glass, the main suspect in the death of her stepson Lucas Hernandez, has committed suicide.

The body of 26-year-old Emily Glass was found early Friday morning at the home of Lucas Hernandez’ father. She apparently died from a gunshot wound.

No further details have been reported.

Glass was the main suspect in the death of her stepson, 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez, who was reported missing in February of this year.

Glass told police she had fallen asleep for a few hours and when she woke up Hernandez was gone.

Before he went missing, the state of Kansas was told at least twice that Hernandez was being abused and enduring a dysfunctional and violent family life.

It was alleged that Glass had bipolar disorder, abused meth, and routinely targeted the boy when she was angry at his father.

Then last month, Glass led a private investigator to the boy’s remains underneath a Kansas bridge.

The story regarding how that private investigator got Glass to lead him to the boy’s body could be turned into a movie, to be honest.…

DALLAS, TX – A woman in Texas has been accused of fatally shooting her husband because he was beating the family cat.

Police were called to a home on Saturday morning where 47-year-old Mary Harrison had just shot her husband, 49-year-old Dexter Harrison.

When questioned by detectives Harrison told them she shot her husband because he was beating on the family cat.

The man was taken to the hospital but he would die from his injuries.

Harrison was arrested on a murder charge and booked into the Lew Sterrett Justice Center. She is being held on $100,000 bail.

According to neighbors, the family moved into the home a few months ago with their two teenage sons. They mostly kept to themselves, but when the family cat went missing Harrison was seen posting missing fliers in the neighborhood.

“A man got shot over a cat? It’s kind of crazy. It’s unbelievable. A man loses his life over a cat. I mean, people love their pets, but it ain’t that serious… to die for a cat,” said neighbor Carl Phillips.…

POINSETT COUNTY, AR – Police have arrested a woman in connection to the death of her one-month-old daughter who was found inside a clothes dryer.

Police were called to a mobile home Tuesday afternoon after the baby’s father found his daughter, Caseleigh, dead inside the dryer.

Both he and the baby’s mother, 25-year-old Tyra Neal, were arrested but charges against the baby’s father were later dropped.

Second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse charges were not dropped against Neal, however, and she is sitting in jail on a $1 million cash-only bond.

Family members say Neal has four remaining children.

No word on how the baby died, but the sheriff’s office said her body has been sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

No word on a motive, either. But I’m guessing a 25-year-old living in a trailer in the middle of nowhere five kids may have a little something to do with it.

Sheriff Kevin Molder said the immediate response of Arkansas State Police was the reason why they have been able to progress this case so quickly.…

ONTARIO, CA – Police have a teen in custody after they say she intentionally used a vehicle to injure her boyfriend and kill her 7-month old daughter.

Sarah Gomez, 19, and her 21-year-old boyfriend were at a family gathering Monday night and had both been drinking.

They were driving home a few streets away when the two began arguing. When they were in the driveway of their home, the boyfriend got out of the vehicle while carrying the couple’s 7-month-old daughter.

According to police, that’s when Gomez, who was in the driver’s seat, intentionally drove into them.

“I believe, at this time, that the father and the child were either at the side of the car or at the back of the car, I’m not sure. It did happen near the apron of the driveway and getting into the street area,” said Ontario PD Sgt. Jeff Higbee.

The boyfriend was taken to the hospital to be treated for scrapes and bruises, but the 7-month-old was transported to the hospital where she would later die from her injuries.…

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC – Police are calling the mother of a 1-year-old found dead after an abduction call as the primary suspect in the child’s death.

On Tuesday afternoon Breanna Lewis called police to report her 1-year-old girl had been abducted.

The mother who initially told deputies she was walking to her mailbox carrying her daughter, Harlee Lewis, when a man in a gold and tan SUV pulled up.

Lewis said a white man wearing a black glove jumped out of the vehicle and punched her several times in the face before grabbing her daughter and driving away.

An Amber Alert was issued but called off within a couple of hours. Investigators searching for clues in the area of the alleged abduction found Harlee.

She was dead and hidden inside a diaper box in a field near Lewis’ home. A cause of death has not been released at this time.

When taken into custody for questioning, Lewis eventually admitted to making the entire abduction story up.

She has charged with filing a false police report, but investigators say she is their prime suspect in her baby’s death and more charges are likely to follow.…

GYMPIE, AU – Police in Australia have charged three people with murder in connection to the death of a man who was pulled through an industrial wood chipper.

Back in November of last year, 54-year-old Bruce Saunders was with two men helping a recently widowed woman clear vegetation from her property.

Police were called to the location after Saunders was accidentally pulled into a woodchipper. As you can imagine, the scene was described as horrific.

“The injuries sustained were as horrific as you can imagine, being consumed by a woodchipper,” Detective Inspector Pettiford said.

Initially deemed an accident, police would start looking into Saunder’s death again after receiving information that his death may have been the result of a love triangle.

Turns out Saunders had once been in a relationship with the woman who lived on the property, as was one of the men he was working with on the day he died.

“After many months of very professional, painstaking and thorough work it’s culminated today with the arrest of the three offenders that we will be alleging murdered Mr.…

WICHITA, KS – The body of a 5-year-old boy missing since February has been located and his stepmother has been taken into custody.

Lucas Hernandez was reported missing in February of this year. His stepmother, 26-year-old Emily Glass, told police she had fell asleep for a few hours and when she woke up Hernandez was gone.

Investigators immediately began searching the area but could not find any trace of him. An Amber Alert because there were no indications the boy had been abducted.

The search for Hernandez ended on Thursday when his remains were found underneath a Kansas bridge. Police say his remains were not visible from the street and had been there for ‘awhile’.

Investigators say Glass led a private investigator to the area. She was still at the scene when police arrived and began the search that led them to the boy’s remains.

Glass was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail late that night for interference with law enforcement officer and obstruction. My guess is that those charges will be upgraded once a cause of death has been determined.…

FORT WORTH, TX – Two boys, ages 13 and 14, have been arrested after breaking into an apartment and fatally shooting a woman in the head.

On Friday the two boys kicked in the apartment door of 31-year-old Yesenia Gutierrez while brandishing a firearm.

One of the boys demanded Gutierrez’s iPhone, which she willingly gave them.

When the mother of three tried preventing the boys from going into the room where her 3-year-old was sleeping, she was shot in the back of the head.

When Gutierrez’s husband arrived home he found his wife’s lifeless body on the kitchen floor. Fortunately, their 3-year-old was unharmed and their other two children were still at school.

The boys were arrested after police found a 9mm pistol during a traffic stop that was later forensically linked to the shell casings discovered in Gutierrez’s apartment.

One of the boys told investigators they decided to rob Gutierrez after noticing a video game console through a window. They told police they thought the robbery would be an “easy lick.”

Both boys, who are not being named, are facing a count of capital murder.…
