antonia-lopezOMAHA, NE – Police have charged a 16-year-old girl after she gave birth to a premature infant then killed it by tossing the newborn out of her second-story window.

Police say that on Friday night Antonia Lopez was alone in her bedroom when she gave birth to a baby girl who weighed two pounds and was 14 inches.

Afterwards, Lopez killed the infant by throwing it out of her second-floor window. She would end up confessing what she had done to her mother, who went outside and located the baby.

Lopez’ mother called police and performed CPR on the baby until help arrived, but the infant would be pronounced dead at the hospital. An official cause of death will not be released until after the baby’s autopsy has been completed.

The teen is now facing felony child abuse resulting in death, and will be charged as an adult. She was placed in the Douglas County Youth Center after going to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

Friends and family say they are shocked at the allegations and say they had no idea the girl was pregnant.…

sharpitFRESNO, CA -A 3-day-old baby was mauled to death by two family dogs after being left unattended on a couch.

According to reports, the girl’s 30-year-old mother left the baby girl on a couch for only a few seconds while she went to use the bathroom.

It was at this time that the two dogs, believed to be Shar Pei-pit bull mixes, came into the home through an open door and attacked the baby. The infant was rushed to the Community Regional Medical Center where she was later died.

The woman told police the dogs belonged to her brother and that she thought they were chained up outside when she left the door open because it was hot. She also informed police that one of the dogs is aggressive.

Sgt. Dan Macias said that at this point the baby’s death seemed like an unfortunate accident, but that the investigation is ongoing and that charges haven’t been ruled out.

The dogs are currently in the custody of the Central California Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals where they will both be euthanized.…

Julio IturraldeLOS LUNAS, NM — Police say 27-year-old Julio Iturralde locked his girlfriend out of their hotel room before raping the woman’s 8-month-old daughter.

The couple were staying at a hotel in Los Lunas when the mother, 25-year-old Jasmin Davis, ran outside to get some items from the car. When she tried to re-enter the hotel room, she found the door was locked and heard her baby screaming.

After several minutes, Iturralde opened the door and Davis saw a “tremendous” amount of blood in her baby daughter’s diaper. She told police she wanted to get her baby to a hospital, but Iturralde refused to let her leave the room and he started smoking meth.

It wasn’t until the next morning, after she and Iturralde smoked meth together, that Davis took her baby to University of New Mexico Hospital. According to the complaint, Davis told hospital staff that she though her baby had been injured by a child she watched the day before.

Medical staff ended up calling law enforcement who interviewed Davis.…

Alyce MoralesHONOR , MI — An infant born in an Illinois campground died after her teenage mother fed the infant a knuckle sandwich moments after she took her first breath.

Court documents state 18-year-old Alyce Morales knew she was pregnant when she went on a family vacation to the Platte River Campground. On Monday night, Morales said she felt sick and excused herself to the family tent.

At around 11:20 p.m. Morales gave birth to Marie Morales. Not wanting her parents to find out, she made the decision to punch her newborn in the head. Her father discovered her and her baby in the tent sometime afterwards while checking to make sure she was ok.

Morales’ parents called 911 and the Marie was transported to Munson Medical Center where she was pronounced later Tuesday morning.  The cause of death was initially thought to have been the result of hypothermia and lack of timely medical care. An autopsy would reveal the newborn died from serious injuries to her head and abdomen.

Morales was brought in for questioning and  admitted several times that she “freaked out” and struck her baby with her closed fist.…

Travis FoxSpringdale, AR – Here’s not one, but TWO dead babies to ruin your day. Travis Fox is accused of shaking two of his babies to death a year and a half apart.

Last Wednesday, Fox’s 7 month old baby, William, was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The doctors found the injuries suspicious and Fox, 24, confessed to investigators that he violently shook the child for an extended amount of time because the child was “fussing.'”

Horrifying, sickening, enraging, but not unheard of.  That’s why there’s such a thing as dontshakeyourbaby.com. But here’s where it gets mind-blowingly awful.

Investigators then found out that Travis Fox was under investigation for the September 2011 death of his 6 month old baby boy, Travis II, in another county.

In the most recent infanctide, Fox “admitted that he shook his six-month-old son for 30-45 seconds because he was ‘fussing’ . . . Mr. Fox said he was angered and tired because he was up for two days without sleep.” He also admitted drinking five beers before killing his baby.…

SAN DIEGO – At a bit after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, a woman walking down an alley near the Park View Apartments complex probably had the contents of her nightmares altered forever: she spotted something odd on the ground, and when she moved closer, she realized it was an infant.

It appeared that the little boy had fallen from one of the complex’s windows. She immediately called authorities, who discovered, upon arriving, that the child was severely injured. (Odd how falls from a significant height seem to affect infants that way.) Medics performed CPR and transported the boy to the hospital, but the little guy didn’t make it to 6:00 p.m.

Currently, there are more questions than answers on this case, but let me share what we do seem to know: (1) The infant’s injuries were caused by a fall from a 3rd-story window. (2) The police initially detained the boy’s 33-year-old mother for questioning but have since arrested her and are now investigating the death as a homicide; they indicate she will be charged with first-degree murder. …

Terrell, TX – A Texas woman who was hospitalized after cutting off her baby’s arms in 2004 has recently been fired from her job at Walmart after a news crew told her employers of her past.

Dena Schlosser made headlines in 2004 after she cut the arms off of her 10-month-old daughter. Her daughter would die soon after. Schlosser was reportedly found covered in blood and singing church hymns. Schlosser would eventually tell psychiatrists that God had told her to do it.

A jury found Schlosser not guilty by reason of insanity. She was hospitalized until 2008 when a judged ruled that she no longer required treatment. Should would return to hospitalization in 2010.

Sometime between 2010 and now, Schlosser went from being a hospitalized mental patient to being a Walmart associate. A Walmart spokewoman says Schlosser, who now uses the last name Laettner, was hired in June. Schlosser was fired Monday after news station WFAA-TV told the company about her past.

I know that you are as outraged as I.…
