SEVILLE, SPAIN – A 25-year-old mother of three was cut in half by a hospital elevator shortly after giving birth.

The horrific accident happened as Rocio Cortes Nunes was being moved between floors at Virgen de Valme Hospital.

Nunes was being transported on a stretcher to the maternity ward after having given birth to her daughter via cesarean.

Once inside the elevator, the doors opened and closed but did not move floors. The hospital staff member with Nunes decided to use another elevator and began wheeling Nunes out.

Nunes, still on the stretcher, was halfway out of the elevator when the doors closed and the elevator began moving floors.

According to reports, the poor woman was killed when she was cut in two. Her family, who were waiting on her on the floor above, stated they heard a loud “loud blow” come from inside the elevator.

It would take firefighters two hours to remove her body, which was stuck in the doors. It was initially thought that her newborn was with her at the time of the accident, but she had already been taken to another hospital due to a heart condition.…

COLUMBUS, OH – One person is dead and seven others injured after a ride at the Ohio State Fair malfunctioned, sending riders flying through the air.

There are news articles everywhere about this incident, but if there is one thing that fascinates me more than animal attacks, it is amusement park accidents.

Anyway, the incident happened yesterday evening on the opening night of the Ohio State Fair. That’s when a ride called the Fireball had a major malfunction resulting in the death of an 18-year-old.

The ride holds 24 passengers in four-seat sections at the end of six spoke arms, swinging the riders like a pendulum 40 feet above the ground while spinning them at 13 revolutions per minute. You can check out this page for ride info and some video of it not throwing riders to their deaths.

For reasons currently unknown, one of the four-seat sections detached from the ride while on an upswing. As you can see in the video below, two people are sent flying from the ride while the others were still strapped in their seats.…

Maria StrydomMOUNT EVEREST – A woman from Australia who said she was climbing Mount Everest to prove that “vegans can do anything” died on the mountain on Saturday after developing altitude sickness.

Maria Strydom, 34, was a finance lecturer at Monash University living on a vegan diet. She posted on the university’s blog that she and her husband were climbing Mount Everest to prove a point.

“It seems that people have this warped idea of vegans being malnourished and weak,” Strydom said. “By climbing the seven summits we want to prove that vegans can do anything and more.”

Strydom was climbing towards the summit on Friday when she became ill and had to turn back to camp. The rest of the group, including her husband, continued on and are believed to have reached the summit.

After spending the night at the camp, Strydom’s condition deteriorated and she died before a rescue team could reach her. Her husband, who also became sick, was taken to a lower camp and then to a Nepal hospital where he is expected to recover.…

Lisa LambeUTAH – A 55-year-old woman died from blunt force trauma injuries she suffered while taking part in the Sundance Mountain Resort ZipTour.

Lisa Lambe and her husband were were vacationing in Utah and decided to take the zip line tour at the Sundance Mountain Resort on Friday.

The attraction consists of five different zip lines and participants can reach speeds of 65 mph. Lambe failed to reach the end of the final zip line and was found suspended in her harness, unconscious and not breathing.

She had suffered serious injuries, including bruises and broken bones along the right side of her body, Utah County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon said. She was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Wind gusts reached 52 mph that day, so it is believed Lambe may have struck a tree on the way down the final leg of the tour. I watched a video on Youtube that someone took while riding all five of the zip lines, and at around the 3:32 mark he does zip through some trees before sailing over a parking lot.…

chimneyFRESNO, CA – A suspected burglar is dead after a homeowner started a fire in his fireplace, not realizing the man had become stuck inside his chimney.

The homeowner called police after he started the fire and heard someone yelling inside his chimney. The man said he desperately tried putting out the fire as his home filled with smoke.

Ten minutes after starting the fire, the man was still alive and kicking inside the chimney. But by time rescuers began dismantling the chimney to pull him out, he was dead.

The dead man’s identity has not been released at this time. Investigators say it looks as if he’d gotten stuck after climbing down the chimney the day before in an attempt to rob the home.

“I’ve been a deputy for almost 17 years now, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Fresno County sheriff’s Deputy Jake Jensen. Readers of DD have – sort of.

Earlier this year, the body of Joshua Maddox was discovered in the chimney of an abandoned cabin.…

Andrew NorrisWilloughby Hills, OH – Last Thursday, 19-year-old Andrew Norris was found dead and frozen inside his pickup truck parked in his parents’ driveway.

Norris was last seen by his parents on Tuesday, but they thought he was staying with a friend. On Thursday afternoon, his stepmother found him slumped over in the front seat of his pickup truck parked in the driveway. According to reports, it was hard to see him inside the truck from the outside.

Police are waiting on autopsy results to find out exactly how Norris died and how long he may been in the truck. There was no evidence of foul play and no signs of drugs or alcohol being involved. His family said Norris frequently spent long periods of time inside the truck using his cell phone to talk with friends.

Ohio is one of many states experiencing freezing temperatures lately and on the day he was found, temperatures in the area had dropped in the low zero degrees. I guess it’s possible he went to the truck to use his phone and wait for his friend to get him, and succumbed to the cold.…

boulderRockville, UT – Two people were killed after a 300 ton boulder literally flattened a  house during a rockslide.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies were dispatched to a hillside along State Route 9, which runs through Zion National Park, at around 5 p.m. yesterday. They would find the home that once stood at the bottom of the hill had been destroyed by several boulders, including one sumbitch that stood over 15-feet tall.

“It just flattened out,” Rockville’s mayor, Dan McGuire, said of the house.

Sadly, the house wasn’t the only thing flattened out. Two people who were in the home have now been confirmed dead. Springdale Police Chief Kurt Wright said two bodies were found inside the home and were found close to each other.

Their names have not been released, but neighbors said they were beloved, longtime residents.

No official word on what caused the rockslide, but Wright blamed it on the winter weather. He said they’ve experiencing abnormally low temperatures and an abundance of snow. However, temperatures peaked at about 45 degrees on Thursday, possibly thawing the frozen rocks and sending them rolling down the hill.…

Alex and Gabrielle MansourSylvan Lake, MI – Two children are dead and another is in critical condition after a boater collided with a tube on the water containing three young siblings.

The accident occurred on Sunday as John Mansour was using a jet ski on Sylvan Lake to pull a large tube being ridden by his three children, Alex Mansour, 11, Gabrielle Mansour, 6, and Adriana Mansour, 10.

At around 12:30 p.m., as Mansour was head south, a 56-year-old boater going east swerved to avoid Mansour’s jet ski but failed to see the tube he was pulling and struck the three children head on.

A witness said that after the collision, Mansour was hysterical.”

“I looked up and the tube was floating and the three children were floating in the water with their vests on,’ said Cindee Rosenthal. “The man on the jet ski had his hands on his head yelling, “Oh, my God, oh, my God, someone help me!” And then I heard someone yell “Call 911!” And other boats were heading toward the scene.”

Mansour, the man who hit his children, and other boaters helped pull the kids out of the water and transported them to shore where off-duty doctors and nurses treated them before paramedics arrived.…

Matthew ZenoBrooklyn, NY – A drunk man returning home from a bar died after he reportedly pissed on the third rail of G train.

Matthew Zeno and a friend were walking along the tracks for the southbound G train around at around 3:00 a.m. when the 30-year-old “inadvertently made contact with the third rail and was electrocuted,” according to the NYPD press office.

Headlines are a bit more eye-catching when they conclude the “inadvertent contact” was made with a stream of piss, but Zeno could have just of easily made some other kind of contact with the rail while looking for a place to take a leak. In fact, I didn’t think it was possible to be electrocuted that way because you pis is not a steady stream after a certain amount of distance. I’m not testing the theory, but I’m guessing he was electrocuted while pissing, not by the piss itself.

Regardless of how Zeno made contact with the third rail, 625 volts of electricity coursed through his body when he did.…

ClotheslineMINNEAPOLIS, MN — A 9-year-old boy was found hanging from a clothesline behind an abandoned home last Thursday. Minneapolis police are now calling the boy’s death suspicious and think the kids he was playing with that afternoon may know what happened.

Neighbors found the boy with a rope around his neck and hanging from a clothesline in the backyard of an abandoned home. His feet were dragging the ground, but he was already limp and unresponsive by time they were able to get him down and remove the clothesline that had been wrapped around his neck. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene within minutes, but the boy never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead Monday night.

Then next day, community activists were in the neighborhood talking to the kids. Police also interviewed people in the area, including other children they feel know what happened to the boy, who was visiting from Georgia with his family.

“It is my understanding is that he was playing with a group of kids that were 7 and 8 years old, possible some older kids.…

Joshua DavisCHEVY CHASE, MD – The body of Joshua Davis, a 15-year-old boy reported missing when he did not return home Monday night, was found by his father on Tuesday. Looks like the kid was riding his bike in a wooded trail when a dead tree fell on top of him.

When Davis had not returned home by 10 p.m. Monday night, his father contacted police. A search for the teen proved unsuccessful until the following day when Davis’ father found his son in some woods near his home. The boy had apparently been riding his bike when an old, dead tree fell on him and killed him. Police say that there were several storms active Monday that may have been a factor in Davis’ death. No foul play is suspected.

The Director of Montgomery County Department of Parks said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened by last night’s tragic accident in Rock Creek Park Stream Valley #2 claiming the life of a young boy riding his bicycle in the park.…

Sexy Wasp NestDENMARK, SWEDEN – News Sweden is reporting that a man identified only as Hasse has died after attempting to have sex with a wasp’s nest.

The stinging sexual assault took place Monday on a farm near Ystad, a town of about 18,000, near Denmark, at the southern tip of the country better known for massages and their nonexistent bikini team.

According to investigators, Bertil Stahfraas discovered the 35-year-old victim lying unconscious on his farm. Stahfraas described his horny neighbor as being so bloated, at first he thought he was looking at a whale carcass. When he got closer, though, he was able to recognize Hasse’s neck tattoo. No word on whether Hasse was a Li’l Kim fan.

Hasse—unfortunately for him—was still alive, but died an hour after being found. Following an autopsy, police concluded that Hasse had tried to have intercourse with the wasp’s nest, without removing said wasps. The coronor found 146 stings on his body, including 54 on his genitals.

Insiders say the pathologist believes no man in recorded history ever wished to ejaculate prematurely more than Hasse.…
