ORONO, MN – Police in Minnesota say a woman hanged herself and her 5-year-old son in the basement of her home.

Police were first called to the home of 47-year-old Gina Sommers after the father of her 5-year-old son was unable to get in touch with her.

The boy’s father, Jeffry Sandberg, was in the middle of a custody battle with Sommers and was scheduled to pick up his son at 4 p.m., but Sommers was not answering her phone or coming to the door.

When police arrived, they left shortly after stating there wasn’t much they could legally do at that time but to call them back if the situation remained the same.

Sandberg called back a few hours later stating the situation had not changed and that a family member was on their way to the home with a set of keys.

Police used the keys to gain entry into the home and found Sommers and her son hanged in the home’s basement.

“It wouldn’t have mattered if we would have [entered] at that 4 o’clock time or that 8 o’clock time,” Police Chief Correy Farniok said.…

Muni SavyonManchester, NH – A reportedly depressed father killed shot is 9-year-old son to death during a supervised visit at a YWCA before turning the gun on himself.

Muni Savyon, 54, and son Joshua Savyon were together for a supervised visit with an adult monitor when, halfway through the hour-long visit, Muni pulled out a handgun, shot Joshua and then himself. The monitor was unharmed. A police tactical team entered the building and found the bodies of Muni and Joshua inside.

According to those who knew him, Muni had a lot going on lately. In February Muni was a defeated candidate for the New Hampshire Legislature, the relationship between him and his ex-wife was described as “contentious” by police, and he’d just returned home from his brother’s funeral in Israel.

Rabbi Levi Krinsky said that Muni was distraught when he saw him a week ago. “He was going through a very, very difficult battle over his son,” Krinsky said. “He was visibly distraught, so my guess is that’s what led to this.”

He went on to say that Muni had sent an email to a friend that warned of what he was going to do.…

Grandmother Kills Self, Three Grandchildren

November 14, 2012 at 11:55 am by

TOLEDO, OH — Police say a woman, her son, and three of her young grandchildren were found dead inside a garage in an apparent murder suicide.

I wanted to post this yesterday, but needed a little more information regarding the motive. The bodies were discovered after 60-year-old Randy Ford returned home from work on Monday and found disturbing notes written by his wife, 56-year-old Sandy Ford, his 32-year-old son, and his three grandchildren.

Randy and Sandy had been caring for three of their grandchildren for the last few years after their mother, Mandy Hayes, asked her mom for help because a fourth child, a 9-year-old boy, was exhibiting “significant behavior problems.” Mandy and her husband felt the kids would be in a safer environment living with their grandparents.

Unable to find his family, a distraught Randy called police after finding the garage had been barricaded shut from the inside and he could not get in. Rescue crew arrived and used a sledgehammer to bash in the garage door. Once inside, they found a truck running with two hoses leading from the exhaust into the back windows of a Honda Civic that contained the dead bodies of Sandy and her 32-year-old son, Andy, along with Sandy’s three grandchildren —  5-year-old Madalyn Hayes, 6-year-old Logan, and 10-year-old Paige.…

MILTON, Ga. — A man has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting the mother of his two kids during a child custody exchange.

Police say 25-year-old Christopher Erdman shot and killed 25-year-old Shannon Lawrence after meeting her in a Wells Fargo Bank parking lot at around 2 p.m. Sunday. A man nearby heard several gunshots and called police. Officers would find Lawrence’s car, four shell casings on the pavement, and a pool of blood.

As they began trying to find the owner of the car, they received a call from a hospital. Erdman had pulled up to their location with Lawrence in the back of his pickup truck. Erdman was apprehended, but it was too late for Lawrence. She had died from being shot four times in her (very attractive) face and neck.

The children are now safe, but police say it is likely the 3-year-old and 1-year-old witnessed the murder of their mother. Milton Police Captain Shane McCarty told Channel 2 Action News that “indications now is that (the shooting) was in front of the children.”

Lawrence had a protective order against Erdman stemming from him continually sending her threatening and intimidating e-mails and texts after their breakup.…

LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Last Wednesday, firefighters responding to a car fire found the body of 42-year-old Stephen Moore inside the trunk. He had been reported missing on Aug 16th by his boss when he did not show up for work after dropping his 20-month-old daughter off at the home of his ex-wife, Kathleen Dorsett. Moore and Dorsett, a third-grade teacher at Gables Elementary School, have been sharing custody of the little girl but had also been involved in a bitter legal battle over visitation rights ever since their divorce earlier this year. On Monday, Dorsett was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and fourth-degree tampering with evidence. Then on Tuesday, Dorsett’s father, 64-year-old Thomas Dorsett, was arrested as well. He was charged with one count of murder, two counts of tampering with physical evidence and one count of tampering with a witness. He was served with papers while in his hospital room where he has been after being admitted for unreported reasons. The child has been placed in foster care.…

TRENTON, Florida – 911 received a phone call at 5:30 am Monday morning in regards to a young girl not breathing. By time medical personnel arrived at the trailer of Matthew Roland and his girlfriend, Chelci Folds, Matthew’s 4-year-old daughter was already dead. Matthew has now been arrested and facing charges of aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child. The abuse the girl endured are heinous enough, but now it is reporting she would have survived them had she received quicker medical attention.…

LaFawn Ebo Jacked Up The Hand-Off

October 9, 2008 at 8:47 am by

Pittsburgh, PA – LaFawn Ebo, 24, didn’t want her daughter anymore.  Two weeks of parenting was more than enough for Ebo, and she was ready to get rid and get out.  Ebo says that she was handing off custody of the newborn girl to the baby’s father Wednesday afternoon at a local Kentucky Fried Chicken.  But something went wrong on Ebo’s end of the hand-off, because the baby girl was left alone in her carseat in the alley, next to a KFC dumpster. …
