Aurora, CO– One thing for certain is that there are a lot of heartless assholes in this world and 30-year old Theodore Madrid is one of them. On January 5, Madrid was drunk and high on marijuana while watching his girlfriend’s 2-year old son, Caden Rodgers. Madrid told police that he was wrestling with Caden and when the boy didn’t want to wrestle with him any more, it made him angry.

Madrid first said that out of frustration he body slammed Caden onto a bed, but later changed his story and said he picked Caden up and threw him across a room, likely slamming his head on a bed frame.

Caden’s mother, 26-year old Ashley Rodgers, called 911 sometime after midnight on Jan. 5 and said that her son, who was being watched by Madrid while she worked, had hit his head and wouldn’t wake up. When the police entered the apartment, they found Caden lying on the floor and bleeding from the back of his head. He also had bruises on his forehead.…

Longmont, CO — Richard Troupe, 52, is being investigated for indecent exposure after an incident at a Burger King drive-thru yesterday morning. According to police, Troupe pulled up to the drive-thru window with his dick in hand and asked the 24-year-old female employee if she would like to “handle his whopper.” Oooh, good one, Dick. That ranks right up there with, “Hey baby, what’s your sign?” How she managed to refrain from jumping right out that window and straight onto his johnson is beyond me, but she kept her wits about her and jotted down dude’s license plate number as he drove away. “This was a very traumatic experience for this young woman,” Police Commander Jeff Satur said. “She had no idea what he might be capable of.” Troupe was pulled over a short time later, and while he hasn’t been charged with indecent exposure as of yet, he did get booked on charges of drunk driving. Restaurant employees told police that Troupe had been in the parking lot earlier and had gone through the drive-through, but didn’t order any food.…

Colorado Springs, CO — I’m surprised that this story isn’t getting more play in the media. Last Thursday police arrested a man after he allegedly killed his girlfriend’s puppy after the couple had gotten into an argument. The woman told police that she left the homeAfter police responded to a possible domestic disturbance call after a woman called stating her boyfriend had intentionally killed her puppy. She told them that after arguing with 25-year-old Christopher Blackstone, she left their residence so that she could to cool off. During this time Blackstone continually texted her, but she ignored them. On Christmas Eve morning, he texted her and told her that had she answered her phone, her puppy would still be alive. She raced home and to her horror, found he was not kidding. The 3 to 5-month old puppy’s body was found in a nearby dumpster. Investigators say it looked as if Blackstone had repeatedly stomped on its head. Blackstone was arrested, charged with cruelty to animals, harassment and felony criminal mischief after he damaged a police car after kicking it.…

CLIFTON, CO — Hello readers. Jaded and myself are on vacation so stories will be sparse and sporadic until the beginning of next year in which we will return with some (hopefully) big news. But I did want to post this story about Kayla Settle today. The 22-year-old mother of two was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to her apartment last month while her brother and two children were inside. On Nov 19 her daughter woke her up because their apartment was on fire and luckily everyone inside were able to get out safely. Settle later told investigators that she had woke up that night to a masked man with a gun in her kid’s room. She said he sexually assaulted her and knocked her unconscious before setting a fire in her kid’s room. After further questioning, Settle finally admitted she had made up the intruder story and she was the one who set the fire. She said she was feeling suicidal that night so after smoking some weed and taking some cold medicine, she used lighter fluid to try and start a fire outside her kid’s bedroom window.…

Vail, CO — Scott Filler, 41, faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge for allegedly punching a 14-year-old girl in the face at the Beaver Creek ski resort in Vail last Friday. According to police, the teen, visiting from Mexico, was skiing on a beginner run with a ski school class when she swerved to avoid a skier who had fallen in front of her and accidentally bumped into Filler’s 4-year-old son, knocking both of them to the ground. Filler, who was on the run with his son, thought the teen had been skiing recklessly. Believing his son had been seriously injured, Filler attacked, jumping on the teen and punching her in the face. A nearby ski instructor intervened and stopped Filler from further assaulting the girl. “The ski instructor told him, ‘Hey, you are beating up a kid,’ ” Eagle County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mike McWilliams said. “Then he realized his son wasn’t hurt.” The teen, however, was seen at a local clinic and treated for minor injuries.…

Craig, Colorado — A hunter in Colorado is feeling the heat after telling reporters how he tracked and killed a 700-pound black bear. After bagging his prize and posing for the picture, Richard Kendall later told the Craig Daily Press that the bear was the largest he’d ever seen and tracked it all the way back to its den. Kendall waited patiently for the bear to come back out so he could shoot it, but after five hours the bear never emerged. So Kendall did something that has upset animal lovers, the anti-hunting crowd and even some hunters…he went inside the den and killed it. The Division of Wildlife says it has been getting lots of calls from people pretty pissed off at Kendall’s method, and want to see him fined, or judging from the comments at this article, much, much worse. But what Kendall did was perfectly legal, so it is doubtful he will suffer any ramifications for what he did aside from the ire of people who feel what he did simply was not ethical.…

Denver, Colorado — To be honest, I had not heard of the mysterious twins who shot themselves at a Denver shooting range on Monday until today’s news reporting that they had entered into some kind of suicide pact. Normally I do not see twins or hear the words ‘twins’ and instinctively think of Grady’s daughters in THE SHINING. Normally. But it always seems whenever twins are involved in some kind of crime, it just enhances the creepy factor and they’re the first thing I think of. Which is definitely the case here. On Monday, 29-year-old Candice and Kristin Hermeler, identical twins from Australia, went to the Family Shooting Center in Denver to target practice. Over an hour later, they simultaneously shot themselves in the head with .22 caliber pistols. “We have video of what happened,” the range owner said. “Sometimes people come in apprehensive — they were not apprehensive. Their demeanor was jovial, chatty, back-and-forth.” Candice would survive her bullet wound to the forehead, but Kristin would be pronounced dead at the scene.…

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police released the identities of the woman and her twin teens found dead inside their home on Monday. Renee Ogden, 38, and her two children, Chase and Olivia, both 13, were found murdered inside their home by Tommy Ogden when he returned home from work on Monday. Police have released a specific cause of death but did state that there was “obvious trauma to the bodies.” They also added that even though Tommy is co-operating with police in their investigation, no one has been ruled out as a suspect at this point nor has a murder-suicide been discounted. One news station did a criminal background check on Tommy, a former Fort Carson soldier, and found that he plead guilty to child abuse charges back in 2001. Not that this has anything to do with the murders, but still. The twins both attended The Galileo School of Math and Science and records show that they were absent from school on Monday. Another interesting note that may mean nothing at all came from Brad Ake.…

Florence, CO – Donald Curtis Denney, a 56-year-old convicted felon, was arrested by FBI agents last Friday at the federal prison in Florence after plotting with his incarcerated son to smuggle drugs into the facility. Denney’s son, 29-year-old Donald aka “The Hard Hat Bandit” Denney, is serving 7-years for committing a series of bank robberies back in 2008. For two months, the two plotted and schemed while authorities listened and recorded. Authorities say the Denney’s came up with a brilliant plan: Dad would wrap a hefty chunk of black tar heroin in plastic and insert it into the finger portion of a rubber glove – he would then stick the entire package up his ass. At some point during visitation, Dad would retrieve said package from his bum, pop it into his mouth, and deliver it to his son via a mouth-to-mouth kiss. :puke: The pair figured they would each walk away with about $10,000 after the heroin was distributed to other inmates. Didn’t happen – after a thorough cavity search, the elder Denney was arrested inside the facility and charged with possession with intent to distribute.…

Denver, Colorado — Back in July, a parking valet noticed Tracy Lee Ottaway, 47, using the valet phone. The valet informed him that the phone was for business use only. Ottaway got pissed and told another employee that if the valet was not fired, he was going to fly his helicopter in front of the building and disrupt their business. If they all laughed in his face or not hasn’t been reported, but Ottaway was pretty angry at the valet. Later that week the valet was returning to work after taking a break and heard the sound of an engine revving. It was Ottaway behind the wheel of a vehicle. “If I see you again, something will happen to fucking Arab,” Ottaway warned the valet. Then on August 7, the valet was getting into a customer’s car when he heard a revving engine and saw Ottaway behind the wheel of a black Escalade driving towards him at a high rate of speed. The valet flattened against the parked car and was brushed by the Escalade’s passenger mirror.…

PALMER LAKE, Colo. – Police have a 12-year-old boy in custody after they say he walked up behind another 12-year-old and stabbed him in the neck after school. The two boys had just gotten off their school bus when the attack happened. “All of a sudden I heard this blood curdling scream,” says neighbor Makensie Putnam. “As I got to the door, I heard pounding. I opened the door to this 12-year-old boy standing there with blood pouring from his neck,” she says. Both boys attend Lewis Palmer Middle School and have run-ins before and for the last two weeks, the suspect has been threatening the victim saying that he was going to stab him. The 5-foot-tall, 105 pound suspect is being held in a juvenile detention facility on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim is expected to be ok, recovering in the hospital after surgery to repair a ruptured esophagus. The parents of the accused are cooperating with police, but have not allowed them to interview their son.…

Walmart Employee Sucker Punched By Shoplifters

August 30, 2010 at 7:00 am by

GOLDEN, Colo – Last Friday a Walmart employee had a pretty bad day after having the living daylights knocked out of him by a man who was part of a group of shoplifters. The attack happened after three individuals left through the garden center entrance pushing a cart full of stolen merchandise setting off the anti-theft alarm. When an employee followed them outside to see what was going on, a third suspect punched him in the head from behind…the guy never saw what hit him. Even worse is that the blow knocked him forward, causing him to land on the shopping cart with his face. He suffered serious facial injuries, including a blow to the head, a cut on his nose and black eyes. So far two of the men have been captured by police. Joe David Lucero, 34, and Jose Antonio Cruz, 19, are currently in jail on felony charges and both have violent records. Police would like to get the remaining two off the street. If you have any information on this, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is asking you call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612.…
