ALTA VISTA, IA – An Alta Vista couple has been charged with murder after the maggot-riddled body of their severely neglected 4-month-old child was found in a baby swing at the family’s apartment in Iowa.

Zachary Paul Koehn, 28, and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Cheyanne Renae Harris, had the bracelets slapped on this past Wednesday when they were charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment.

According to court records, their son, Sterling Daniel Koehn, was found dead Aug. 30 after Zachary Koehn called 911 requesting an ambulance come to the couple’s home.

When Chickasaw County sheriff’s deputies and medics arrived, they found the deceased infant sitting in a powered baby swing, according to the criminal complaints. Sterling was found in a bedroom separate from where Koehn, Harris and their older child slept.

No report of whether the room had an Air Wick, though autopsy results suggest it must’ve been getting pretty ripe in there.

When deputies first arrived at the couple’s apartment, Koehn reportedly told them that Harris had fed Sterling that morning and, “he was fine.”

Koehn claimed that when Harris checked on their son a few hours later, he had died, according to the complaint.…

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A woman charged in her daughter’s death told police she didn’t call 911 for her dying daughter because her cell phone was low on minutes.

According to reports, 34-year-old Jessica Briones brought her 4-year-old daughter, Olivia, to a San Antonio police substation with severe head trauma.

She told officers that her daughter fell and hit her head four days ago but was now vomiting and would not wake up.

When asked why didn’t she call 911 immediately, Briones allegedly stated she couldn’t find her cell phone and that she was low on minutes.

Olivia would die the next day at the hospital, where doctors would find the girl had suffered injuries that were not consistent with a fall.

Along with multiple brain bleeds and severe brain swelling, Olivia also had a swollen nose, eight scars on the back of her head, a black eye, deflated left lung, a fractured vertebrae, a swollen wrist and two swollen arms, a bruised ankle and detached tissue in her upper lip from her gums.…

ALLOWAY, NJ – A woman has been arrested after she passed out in the front seat of her car for hours and her 2-year-old daughter fatally injured herself while trying to escape her car seat.

Deanna Joseph, 39, called 911 around 9:45 p.m. to report her daughter was unresponsive. When police arrived at the scene they found the girl dead in her car seat in a car running in the driveway.

After questioning Joseph, police determined she had pulled into her driveway and passed out for hours with the car running and the heater running. During this time, her daughter struggled to get out of her car seat and may have accidentally hanged herself in the straps.

Salem County Prosecutor John T. Lenahan said the child had no obvious signs of blunt force trauma and the exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office. My guess it will be either asphyxiation, heat exhaustion or a combination of both.

Joseph was charged with second-degree child endangerment, charges that I am sure will be upgraded once an official cause of death is determined, and especially considering Joseph’s history of doing this exact, same thing multiple times in the past.…

TUCKER, GA – Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman after she left her one-year-old daughter in a hot car for six hours while she was getting her hair done.

Police say Dijanelle Fowler arrived at her hair appointment at 10:04AM on June 15, and left her daughter, Skylar, in the car with the air conditioning on.

A short time after entering the salon, her car died and Skylar would slowly cook to death as the temperatures outside reached 90 degrees.

At no time during the six hours Fowler was in the salon did she ever come out and check on her daughter.

Now here’s where things get even worse. After arriving at her car and finding her daughter dead, police believe she hid her daughter’s body with clothes and got a man from inside the salon to help her get her car started.

She then texted Skylar’s godfather and informed him she was going to go to the hospital because she was suffering severe headaches. During this time, Fowler was also Googling “seizure symptoms”.…

MOORHEAD, MN – Police have accused a man of abusing his 2-month-old daughter, including choking her and rubbing hot sauce in her eyes.

Police began investigating after the child’s mother brought the girl to the hospital with dark bruises over both eyes and her shoulder, as well as red marks on her back.

The woman told police that the girl had been in the care of her father, 31-year-old Shawn Foltz, and that he claimed the injuries came from her 3-year-old brother hitting her with a toy gun.

But when interviewed by police, Foltz eventually admitted that he was the one responsible for his daughter’s injuries after becoming frustrated with her crying.

The abuse reportedly occurred from April until the end of May, and included Foltz rubbing hot sauce and cayenne pepper in her eyes, blocking her airway until she turned blue, snapping her in the face with a towel, spraying her with hot water and throwing fireworks in her face.

Foltz also told police that he would sit at work and daydream about other ways to abuse his daughter.…

Greene County, TN — A couple of true geniuses are behind bars after allegedly trying to sell their 5-month-old baby on Craigslist. The price tag? A real steal, folks…. just $3,000!

Authorities were alerted to the ad by another couple just cruisin’ through Craigslist.

Police made contact with the two responsible for the ad, ultimately arranging a price and agreeing upon a safe, public place in which to meet.

An undercover officer hooked up with the sellers at a Dollar General store Friday afternoon. The agent shelled out the agreed upon $3,000, cash, and the sellers handed over the baby.

Immediately after the exchange, the morons were arrested.

A warrant from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office says the couple “did knowingly place the child in threat of serious danger, bodily injury or death by selling the child to an unknown person”.

The Washington Country Sherriff was called to Dixie Regional Medical Center by attending doctors in regards to an extremely malnourished child who was brought in by his father.

The father told them that he had found his son locked inside a bathroom that was doubled bolted from the outside.

Washington Country Sherriff’s Lt David Crouse describes what he found when searching the home. “I’ve seen the pictures. They’re horrific. I’ve seen other horrible things, but this is one of those things I’ll never forget. I wish I could unsee it.”

ADA, OK – Police have arrested a couple after they were so high on meth that they failed to get their severely burned infant medical attention.

According to reports, a 16-year-old girl was babysitting a two week old infant when she accidentally burned her.

While giving the infant a bath in the sink under running water, she accidentally turned off the cold water instead of the hot water.

The girl’s mother called the infant’s parents, 25-year-old Patric Eddy and 26-year-old Candace Mercedes, to inform them of what happened.

The couple arrived and took the child home, telling them they were too high on meth to take the child to the hospital right away.

The mother of the babysitter visited the couple’s home the following day to check on the baby and found the infant crying in the bed next to her sleeping parents.

The woman told police the baby was suffering from an “awful” burn on her abdomen and had a diaper full of urine and feces.

The woman woke up Matthews who agreed to let her take the baby to the hospital.…

mary-martinezMILWAUKEE, WI — Two women have been charged in the death of a 7-year-old boy who was malnourished, burned with cigarettes and whipped with cords.

According to police, 44-year-old Etter Hughes moved from Arkansas to the rat-infested apartment of 47-year-old Mary Martinez, a woman she had met in prison.

Hughes brought along her 13-year-old son and the two younger sons of her cousin, who was moving to Wisconsin at a later time.

Almost immediately after moving in, 7-year-old Trevion and his 9-year-old brother suffered beatings at the hands of Martinez, and were routinely denied food.

Investigators say Martinez would kick them in the head, punch them in the back, burn them with cigarettes and whip them with electrical cords. Police say that at no time during this abuse did Hughes intervene.

That changed last week when Trevion was found unresponsive with his eyes were rolling back into his head.

When Martinez saw the boy’s condition, she allegedly told Etter she and the boys needed to get out of her house and to drop Trevion off in the woods.…

nicholas-kernechelNORRISTOWN, PA – Nicholas Kernechel, 28, has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for beating his ex-girlfriend’s four-year-old autistic son and extracting three of his teeth.

The incident happened last year after the boy’s mother left him in the care of Kernechel while she went out with friends. The next morning, she found her son sleeping on his bedroom floor with his face beaten, lips swollen and missing three teeth.

The boy told his mother that Kernechel was responsible for his injuries and that he was not nice.

She rushed the boy to the hospital and brought along a bag containing the boy’s teeth. “The teeth were bloody but intact, from the tooth through the top of the root,” authorities said in a statement. A medical examination indicated that his “teeth were pulled out.”

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said the teeth were “physically extracted, removed from his mouth, forcefully” and that afterward, Kernechel left the boy “to suffer overnight until the morning when his mother found him and saw what had been done.”

When interviewed, Kernechel first told officers he had no idea how the boy was injured.…
