RICHMOND, KY – Police have arrested a couple after their 18-year-old daughter was found locked inside a cage in their home’s basement.

Police were performing a welfare check at the home of Tito and Shannon Felix, 50 and 51, when they went down to the basement that was littered with animal feces.

Also in the basement was the couple’s 18-year-old daughter. She was locked inside a wooden cage that measured seven feet long, 43 inches tall and 46 inches wide.

The cage was equipped with latches on the outside, a combination lock and a child’s toilet that was full of piss and shit.

When police asked the couple why in the hell was their adult daughter locked up inside the cage, they responded that the girl suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome and would sleepwalk.

So, they explained, keeping her locked in the cage at night so she “doesn’t get out and we can get some sleep.”

The couple was arrested on the spot and charged with unlawful imprisonment and criminal abuse.…

SACRAMENTO, CA – A couple is behind bars after the body of their emancipated 5-year-old girl was found inside a storage locker.

On May 11, Tyler and Averyauna Anderson, both 23, drove a rented U-Haul truck from Reno, Nevada to Sacremento.

The next day they stopped at a friend’s U-Haul storage facility and dropped off some sealed boxes.

The friend thought the boxes were suspicious, so he inspected them. Inside one of the boxes was a plastic drum that contained a duffel bag.

Inside the duffel bag, the man found the remains of a 5-year-old girl.

The storage unit owner immediately called police who began their investigation. Detectives were able to quickly identify the couple and where they lived by tracking their cellphone information and their U-Haul rental agreement.

At the couple’s apartment, investigators would discover the couple had three children. Two boys that are the couple’s biological children, and Cali — the 5-year-old-girl found in the storage unit.

Interesting to note, Cali was not Averyauna’s biological daughter. She was also the one child neighbors reported never seeing playing outside.…

Jena HarmanLARAMIE, WY – WARNING! Midway into this article, I begin using the word “they”as a gender-neutral singular because the sex of the child is unknown, rather than as a plural pronoun. Going by the comments, this seems to have confused the hell out of people. I figured I’d warn some of you beforehand so you are not also stuck staring at your monitor in confusion, with drool pooling from your mouth. You’re welcome.

Jena Harman and Alexander Smith have been charged with child abuse and felonious restraint after they allegedly kept Harman’s 7-year-old child in an outdoor cage.

The couple were arrested after a neighbor discovered the child and contacted police. This wouldn;t be the first time police have been called regarding the child, as the Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received complaints of child abuse and requests for welfare checks since August.

When deputies got to the couple’s home on this latest trip, they found the kid inside a six feet square, five feet tall cage constructed of cattle paneling and wooden snow fence.…

Titusville, FL – If you were a 12-year-old boy, and your skeezy-looking father and his haggard live-in girlfriend started denying your basic needs, such as food, one of the first things you’d likely try is grabbing some morsels on the sly.

According to police reports, Michael Marshall’s son did just that when his father, 38, and live-in girlfriend, Sharon Glass, 48, began intentionally denying the boy food.

Upon discovery of the child’s thieving, Marshall and Glass reportedly detained him, locking him in closets, a bedroom, and a cage, sometimes for weeks at a clip.  They even forced the boy’s 10-year-old sister, also Marshal’s, to stand guard in case he attempted an escape.

Department of Children and Families investigated the family in August, 2010 with regard to the same boy.  He was withdrawn from school immediately afterward.

Police arrested the two I have dubbed “Caretakers of the Year” on March 15th for three counts of aggravated child abuse (unlawful caging of a child) and aggravated child neglect.  Authorities were alerted to the abuse by an anonymous tipster.…

Redfield, IA – An Iowa man was hospitalized after what first looked to be an armed recovery mission by a team of Delta Force raccoons. Authorities would establish, instead, that the gunfire was the unexpected result of an intentional, albeit poorly implemented, plan.

The melee began last Saturday morning when Larry Godwin, 68, reportedly discovered a raccoon in a live trap that he had set. Soon after, Godwin set upon the plan of an execution-style slaying of the caged animal. Brandishing a .22 caliber handgun, Godwin shot at the trapped raccoon.

The first shot Godwin fired ricocheted from the cage, reportedly striking Godwin in the right lower abdominal area. This caused Godwin to drop the pistol and it fired again, striking him again in almost precisely the same location as the first shot.  It is believed that, at this point,  the original mission was aborted.

An investigation at the scene presumably established that the caged raccoon was not in the possession of a concealed firearm and, in fact, had no field radio equipment that would indicate the summoning of a heavily-armed extraction team.…
