Phoenix, AZ — An Arizona mother of five has been charged with child abuse after she took her 6-year-old daughter to a McDonald’s for ice cream, and then abandoned her there.

Police say 23-year-old Lucy Parra took her daughter, Everlyn, to a Mcdonald’s Wednesday evening so the girl could go in and purchase an ice cream. When the girl returned to the parking lot, she could not find her mother and her mother’s car was nowhere to be found.

McDonald’s employees say the girl was visibly upset over having been abandoned and that they ended up calling police after 15 minutes of searching for Parra. While waiting for police, McDonald’s employees said they fed the girl in the office and tried comforting her. “She was really hungry. She said she had not ate all day since school lunch,” the employee said.

Officers were still on the scene when Parra came back to the restaurant 40 minutes later. Employees say she appeared intoxicated, claiming she never left the parking lot. The employee says that’s bullshit, as there were only four cars in the lot when they were out looking for her.…

GILBERT, AZ – A woman in Arizona was so angry over Obama winning the presidential elections that she ran down her husband with her vehicle after an argument over his not voting.

According to the police report, 28-year-old Holly Solomon got into an argument with her husband regarding Barack Obama winning a second term.  Holly feels that Obama is the blame for her family’s ills, and is now looking at four more years of struggling.

Aside from blaming all of those who voted him in, she also blamed the people who did not vote at all; her husband included. Witnesses say the couple had been yelling at each other as they sat inside a Jeep SUV, but when Daniel got out of the vehicle, Holly lost her goddamn marbles.

“He got out of the car and she was screaming at him. And he started walking away and she started driving in circles around him and she wouldn’t let him go so finally he took off to try to get away and she ran into him,” a caller told a 911 dispatcher.…

Mesa, AZ – Derrick Doba, a certified public accountant, had his laptop stolen out of his office on September 14th while his wife was performing an unattended backup to an online service.

When he heard the door to the office open, he assumed it was his babelicious wife, Christiana, so he didn’t investigate.  However, about ten minutes later, she came in and asked where her computer was.  That’s when he realized that the sound he’d heard a few minutes prior had not been her, but a thief.

The Dobas filed a police report, but began an investigation of their own.  It just so happens that they had installed remote control software on that laptop which would allow them to log in and control the machine from any other computer.  When Mr. Dobas initiated a remote control session, he discovered that someone was actually using the stolen computer at that time.

“The other individual on the other end didn’t really know what was happening and we started fighting over control of the cursor,” he said. …

Mesa, AZ – Laurie Lee Kelly, 43, is facing charges of child abuse after buying beer for two transients in exchange for their babysitting services while she went on a mission for anonymous sex.

Kelly, the ravishing natural blonde to the left, who is employed as an instructional assistant at Whitman Elementary in the Mesa Public School District, purchased some beer on Tuesday for two transients and asked that they watch her six-year-old daughter while she “went to make money.”

She did not know her new employees previously, but it’s probably a good bet that alcohol will make just about anybody a better caretaker, so kudos to her for thinking on her feet.

Kelly was gone for approximately four hours, leaving her daughter in the extreme Arizona heat without food or water, while she reportedly had sex with a couple of men.

“She left her kid with total strangers,” witness Ronald Baker said. “I’m glad that we’re honest and protective.”

“She’s beautiful. She was fun. We ran around the park. She’s a wonderful child,” witness Maureen Wilson told CBS 5 on Thursday.…

Tampa, FL – Jonathan Lane, 33, was arrested by Tampa police in July after he allegedly took a flight from Arizona for a sexual rendezvous with a physically-disabled 14-year-old girl.

Lane’s relationship with the girl reportedly began in June 2011 and quickly escalated when Lane began e-mailing her sexual explicit, vomit-inducing nude pictures of himself.

Lane then allegedly told the girl that he wanted to travel to her home to have sex with her.  This apparently was a-okay with her as she agreed to use her grandmother’s credit card to pay for his plane ticket.  Can you imagine stealing from your grandmother for a go at this loser’s schween?  I pray your answer is a resounding ‘no.’

As luck would have it, the girl’s father discovered e-mail correspondence between the two prior to Lane’s arrival.  He alerted Tampa police to the plan, and Lane was arrested upon his arrival.

Police report that Lane was fully aware of the girl’s age, that she was in a wheelchair, and that he had made his true intentions abundantly clear prior to leaving Arizona.…

Phoenix, AZ – Rebekah Mellon, 31, was arrested on July 31st in the shooting death of her husband, 46-year-old Donald Mellon Jr.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital, and now reports indicate that there is actual video of the murder taking place.  She is currently facing first-degree murder charges with bond set at $1 million, $1 million less than what prosecutors were suggesting.

There are a great number of things we don’t know about the relationship between Rebekah Mellon and her husband.  What we do know is that they are no strangers to domestic violence, although their previous incidents never resulted in any arrests.  Court documents also indicate that there is evidence that Ms. Mellon is an alcoholic.

Police responding to a 911 call of a domestic disturbance reportedly had to kick the door of the Mellon residence in to obtain entry at around 10 PM on the night of the shooting.  When they entered the house, they say they found Ms. Mellon sitting on the couch with a handgun beside her, wedged between the cushions. …

Phoenix, AZToxicology results from Michael Marin’s autopsy indicate that he did, indeed, intentionally kill himself immediately after his verdict was handed down.  His method of choice?  Glad you asked.  Cyanide.

I wrote this story up soon after Marin collapsed and died in an Arizona courtroom immediately following the reading of his guilty verdict.  I’d tell the story again, but I did such a masterful job the first time, I’ll request that you simply read it here.

It’s difficult to watch the video of Marin’s final moments without believing that he placed something in his mouth and washed it down with the contents of a bottle he’d carried into the courtroom with him.  The toxicology results now leave little doubt.

There are two shocking parts of this story for me.  The first is that he opted to off himself before he’d even been sentenced.  The maximum would have been 21 years, and I’d imagine an appeal would have been a no-brainer.  Something tells me that there’s a bit more information about his situation that I don’t currently possess.…

TUCSON, AZ  — Two sisters, ages 9 and 11, were arrested the other day after they prank called 911 and pretended to be Isable Calis, the 6-year-old girl who has been missing since April.

Police say they received a phone call Sunday morning from a young girl who identified herself as Calis. She told the dispatcher that she had been kidnapped and then hung up the phone.

The call was traced to a cell phone in the area of an apartment complex and over 25 officers, including detectives from the Sex Offenders Registration and Tracking Unit, responded to the area. After e bit of canvassing the neighborhood, police made contact with the sisters who admitted that they had made the call as a joke. There mother was home at the time, but did not know what her daughters had done.

Both girls were arrested on suspicion of false reporting to a law enforcement agency. Although they were initially booked into a juvenile corrections center, their lack of a record and the charge being a misdemeanor meant they did not meet the criteria for being detained. …

Phoenix, AZ – Michael Marin, 54, entered a courtroom yesterday afternoon to hear a jury issue its verdict on charges that he had committed arson by burning down his Biltmore Estates mansion in July 2009.  He appeared to have entered the courtroom with nothing but a drink bottle.

However, video shows that immediately after the verdict is read, Marin places his head in his hands, and then appears to put something small, perhaps a pill, into his mouth, then swallow.  Minutes later, he turns to someone behind him, begins convulsing slightly, and then collapses on the floor.

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene about ten minutes later, they placed an unresponsive Marin on a stretcher and took him to an ambulance.  He was later declared dead.  Toxicology tests will not be available for a few weeks.  Little will be known about the apparent suicide until then, unless either a suicide note is found, or an acquaintance can give some relevant insight into anything Marin might have said prior to his death.…

TOLLESON, AZ — Police have charged 48-year-old Edgardo Luis Claudio-Marrero with murder after they say he beat his estranged wife to death with a toilet tank lid.

Police were called to Claudio-Marrero’s home after his estranged wife’s current boyfriend, Larry Turner, called them with concerns for her safety. He told them that Sreymon Claudio had dropped him off at a nearby fast-food restaurant so that she could go to her husband’s house and confront him about some jewelry of hers he had pawned. She went alone because she did not want her husband to know of her relationship with Turner.

Turner grew increasingly concerned when Claudio had not returned a few hours later, so he took a cab to Claudio-Marrero’s home. He waited in the cab for 45-minutes, calling police after watching Claudio-Marrero walk out of the home, search for something in his vehicle, and then go back inside.

When police arrived, it took Claudio-Marrero fifteen minutes to come out. When he did, police observed his hands had fresh cuts and were bleeding.…

Phoenix, AZ — A 14-year-old boy stopped a wannabe burglar in his tracks, critically injuring the man as he brandished a gun at the teen and his three siblings Friday afternoon.

According to police, the boy and his siblings, ages 8, 10 and 12, were home alone when a strange woman rang the doorbell that afternoon. The teen later told police he didn’t answer the door because he didn’t recognize the woman.

A short time later, the teen heard someone banging on the door. He gathered his siblings and rushed them upstairs, stopping to retrieve a handgun from his parent’s bedroom.

As the boy stood at the top of the stairs, he saw a man break through the front door and aim a gun at him. Before the intruder could get a shot off the kid fired, effectively altering the intruder’s plans.

Police say the unidentified 37-year-old man was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition. He has since been upgraded to critical condition and is expected to survive.…

CHANDLER, AZ — A karate instructor in Arizona is currently in jail after being accused, once again, of child molestation.

Scott Flood, aka Karate Scott, is a karate instructor contracted to teach karate to children in at least three Arizona schools. But police say that Flood wasn’t just empowering children with the ability to possibly protect themselves, they say he was also preying on them.

Flood was arrested on Friday and is currently in jail on two counts of child molestation after a 5-year-old girl at Childtime Learning Centers told police that Flood touched her vagina over her clothes on multiple occasions and then told her not to tell anyone.

It was later revealed that Flood seems to find trouble when he is around children. Back in 1999, police wanted to charge Flood with “furnishing obscene materials to minors,” but the investigation was dropped after the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office decided there wasn’t enough probable cause.

Then, in 2010, a 5-year-old girl at Sunrise Preschool told her mother that Flood said she was “gorgeous” and “a real cutie pie.” The police report went on to say that Flood kissed the girl on the cheek during karate class and “tickled her butt crack.” These accusations, even if true, did not meet the requirements for a child molestation charge so police tried to charge Flood with aggravated assault. …
