TROY, NC – A woman taking a walk in her North Carolina neighborhood was reportedly mauled to death by two pit bulls.

When the 66-year-old woman did not return home after her routine walk, her husband went out with neighbors looking for her.

When they were unable to find her they called 911. Responding police and emergency personnel would find her body along an unused road in her housing development.

According to reports, it looked as if the woman had been attacked by a dog so police immediately began searching the surrounding area.

Eventually they “located two pit bull dogs with physical evidence reflecting the dog’s involvement.

The dogs’ owner agreed to release the dogs to animal control so they could be euthanized and tested for rabies. Medical examiners also wanted to study the dogs’ jaw sizes.

As of Saturday, the case remained a death investigation and not a criminal investigation.

“This is a very tragic event, which has deeply affected the family, friends, deputies, and first responders,” Montgomery County Sheriff Chris Watkins said.…

NORTH BEND, WA – A 32-year-old man was killed over the weekend after being attacked by a mountain lion while mountain biking.

SJ Brooks was mountain biking with his friend, 31-year-old Isaac Sederbaum, Saturday morning when a mountain lion began chasing them.

“It sounds like they were just riding bikes when of the victims hears a scream from his partner and sees they’re being chased by a cougar,” Captain Alan Myers with Fish and Wildlife said.

Brooks and Sederbaum proceeded to do all things you are supposed to do in that type of situation and got off their bikes, using them as a weapon against the mountain lion and yelling at the animal.

“Which is exactly what we tell people to do,” said Myers. “Don’t run, whatever you do, don’t run, throw things at it, make noise. It sounds like that’s what they started doing initially.”

The mountain lion ran off but quickly returned. It first attacked Sederbaum before turning its attention to Brooks. Sederbaum said his entire head was in the cat’s mouth when Brooks made a run for it.…

“A predominant breed in these dogs is definitely standard dachshund,” said an animal shelter employee. “They have really noticeable characteristics like their knobby legs, knees, very short legged dogs and their coats.”

All of the dogs were 1 to 3 years old, weighed less than 40 pounds and were covered by ticks and fleas.…

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Noah Trevino was playing alone in the backyard of his home Sunday afternoon when the dog attacked.

“It appears that the child may have gotten too close to the dog,” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said. “One of the relatives of the child actually looked out into the backyard and saw that the dog had his mouth around the little boy’s neck and was shaking him.”

Family members were able to get the dog off of Noah and began administering CPR. Unfortunately, Noah was declared dead after being airlifted to the hospital. He had just celebrated his fourth birthday two weeks prior.

FALMOUTH, MA – A man had to stab the family pit bull to death after it began mauling his 1-year-old daughter in what police are calling an unprovoked attack.

It happened Sunday morning when the man heard screaming coming from the kitchen, and discovered the family dog, a pit bull terrier, had latched on to his 1-year-old daughter’s face.

When the man could not get the dog to off his daughter, he ran to an adjacent room to grab a gun. After trying to shoot the dog and discovering the gun was unloaded, the man used a knife to stab the dog to death.

The girl was airlifted to the hospital where she underwent numerous emergency surgeries and blood transfusions. She is expected to survive the attack but family members say she still has a long way to go, including future plastic surgery procedures.

Police say the dog did not have a history of violence, and that the attack on the girl seems to have been unprovoked.

The father’s uncle, who lives across the street, said the dog was adopted five years ago and has always gotten along with the girl.…

ARJAY, KY – A man has been charged after his two pit bulls mauled a couple Christmas Eve morning, killing the woman.

According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, Johnny Saylor woke up Christmas Eve morning and started to walk outside his house to find his wife, 66-year-old Lorraine Saylor, who normally woke up before him and spread bird seed in the yard.

When he went out to the porch, he was immediately attacked by two pit bulls that belonged to his neighbor, 42-year-old Johnny Lankford. The dogs latched on to Johnny’s arm and tried dragging him to the ground.

Luckily, Johnny’s brother lives next door and heard the commotion. He stepped out and began yelling at the dogs, causing them to release their hold on Johnny. This gave Johnny enough time to run back inside and grab a .22 caliber pistol.

When he returned outside, Johnny shot one of the dogs in the chest after it lunged at him. This caused the injured dog to run from the scene.

When Johnny made his way to the front of the house, he found Lorraine.…

LONDON – Medical reports show that a man’s dog was under the influence of crack and morphine when it killed its owner in front of a documentary film crew.

The attack happened in March in front of a BBC documentary crew who were in the home of 41-year-old Mario Perivoitos, filming a documentary about drugs.

After ingesting cocaine, Perivoitos lay in his bed and started having an epileptic fit. This caused his Staffordshire bull terrier named “Major” (not pictured) to attack him and latch on to his neck.

The film crew called police while trying to get the dog off of Perivoitos, but it took 30 minutes before the dog was wrestled off the man.

Perivoitos would not survive the mauling and died from a crushed larynx and massive hemorrhaging.

A toxicology report would later show that the dog had large amounts of cocaine and morphine in his urine.

The toxicologist stated that while it’s impossible to determine if the drugs were the direct cause of the attack, they would have been a factor in the dog’s behavior as drugs typically make dogs “respond abnormally.”

Finally free from a drug addicted owner and clean from crack and morphine, Major is scheduled to be euthanized.…

HART COUNTY, GA — A grandmother is facing murder charges after her two pit bulls mauled her 20-month-old grandson to death.

According to Hart County officials, 70-year-old Sandra Bowers Adams was babysitting her grandson at her home on Tuesday.

Adams told GBI agents that they were going back inside the house when her pit bulls ran out the back door, knocking Adams down and attacking the boy.

She eventually got the dogs off of her grandson and rush him to the hospital, after stopping to pick up the boy’s mother who was nearby, but it was too late.

By time he arrived at Reddy Urgent Care, he was pronounced dead from several bites and tears to his head and neck.

After an extensive investigation and interviews with family members, Adams was charged second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children and felony involuntary manslaughter.

Part of the reason why the district attorney was comfortable with these charges may have to do with the fact that Adams has been cited multiple times by the Hartwell Police Department under a city ordinance maintaining disorderly animals.…

LANCASTER, PA – Two children are in the hospital after a pit bull attacked them inside a minivan on a residential street.

A 5-year-old pit bull broke through a fence, got inside a minivan, and attacked a 2-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy as they sat in their car seats.

A witness said he tried to help the mother get the dog off the children, but didn’t have much luck.

“We’re just pulling, and it’s raining, so it’s a slimy dog, pulling, we get it off once, and we’re yelling at the mom to get the kid and shut the door, it slipped away, and it pounced on the kid again,” witness Tom Grab said.

Another witness stated the dog was not attacking any of the adults who were trying to pull it off the children, and was only interested in attacking the kids.

“We fought the dog and it just was still attacking, and still attacking, and it wasn’t attacking the adults, it was attacking the babies,” Marsha Jones said.…
