NEW BOSTON, TX – A 10-year-old girl has died after her family says she was electrocuted while saving kittens from behind a clothes dryer.

I couldn’t find a lot of details surrounding the death of Greenlee Marie (awesome name, btw) aside from what is being stated by family.

Apparently, Marie was electrocuted while trying to get her kittens from behind a clothes dryer inside her family’s rented home.

Chief Gary McCrary said they are investigating the incident and trying to determine exactly how Marie was electrocuted.

“Apparently this residence had some electrical issues in the past according to some reports and statements that have been made,” McCrary said.

“Landlords need to be held accountable for the conditions of the homes that they let people live in,” said Marie’s mother, Shelby Roos. “And all we want is a voice for our daughter that left us over a senseless act.”

I’m totally speculating here, but I imagine a landlord somewhere is currently shitting their pants.

Marie’s family created a GoFundMe page in the girl’s honor to collect donations for local animal rescue efforts.…

WOODLAND HILLS, CA – A 63-year-old US Postal Service worker was found dead in her truck on day temperatures reached 117 degrees.

Peggy Frank was a 28-year veteran with the U.S. Postal Service with only two years left until retirement.

Friday was her first day back on the job after taking two months off to recover from a broken ankle. At around 3 p.m., Frank was found unresponsive inside her USPS truck.

Despite attempts to revive her, Frank would be pronounced dead at the hospital. Although an actual cause of death has not been determined, heat exhaustion is a definite possibility.

Temperatures that day reached 117 degrees and USPS mail delivery trucks are not equipped with air conditioners.

Frank had also suffered from heat exhaustion in May of last year.

A US Postal Service spokeswoman said ‘safety is our top priority for all our employees’ and that mail carriers are always reminded to keep hydrated, wear weather-appropriate attire, bring along plenty of water and ice, and stay in the shade.

But Frank’s family says they need to do more to look out for their workers.…

BRAZIL – A woman died after she fell onto a broken wine glass while celebrating Brazil’s World Cup win over Serbia.

Tamra Maiochi, 30, was with friends last Wednesday watching Brazil play against Serbia in the World Cup.

She was sitting on a couch with a mobile phone in one hand and a crystal glass of wine in the other when Brazil won the match.

Maiochi jumped up from the couch to celebrate the victory with her friends but lost her balance.

As she reached out for a coffee table to stop her from falling, she ended up falling onto the wine glass.

A shard of broken glass penetrated her neck and sliced open her jugular vein.

Friends wrapped towels around her neck in an attempt to stop the bleeding, but the poor woman would bleed to death before paramedics arrived.

Maiochi made some unintentionally foreshadowing posts on Facebook before her death, including one of her holding a wine glass as well as another about not using a mobile phone while driving.…

GRAND JUNCTION, CO – A woman made her husband return to prison two hours after he was mistakenly released due to a prison mix-up.

James Rynerson, 38, was being held in the Mesa County Jail on menacing, disorderly conduct and trespassing charges.

Another inmate, Marvin March, was temporarily placed in Rynerson’s cell while his own cell was under construction.

The jail’s staff neglected to note when March was moved back to his own cell.

So you can imagine the gears turning in Rynerson’s head when jail officials came to his cell — thinking he was March — to release him.

Rynerson decided not to tell them he wasn’t March and rolled with it. YOLO, right?

The jail staff didn’t bother to check his wristband or identification to confirm his identity, so not only was he released, Rynerson also collected March’s paperwork, debit card and leather jacket on the way out.

The jail didn’t realize their error until March asked them when the hell was he getting out.

But they didn’t have to search long as Rynerson turned back up at the jail two hours later.…

ENGLAND – A British man proving his “stab-proof vest” was indeed stab proof. died after stabbing himself.

Just five days after 22-year-old Jordan Easton’s birthday, he was with friends inside a home showing off a vest he was wearing.

According to Easton, the vest was stab proof and he decided to give a demonstration.

“While in the kitchen, he took hold a knife to demonstrate it was stab-proof and sadly realized it wasn’t the case,” said assistant coroner Karin Welsh.

After successfully stabbing himself in the chest, Easton was rushed to the hospital.

“Despite the best efforts of the medical professionals, they were unable to save him,” said Welsh.

Easton’s death was ruled a “misadventure” by Welsh, who chalked it up to the “foolishness of youth.”

Police investigated the incident but after interviewing family and witnesses, no charges were filed.

Easton’s sister is still having a hard time believing her brother accidentally killed himself.

“It’s more possible if it was bravado, showing off in front of lads, but where a mother and a young girl were, it’s out of character for him.…

BRINNON, WA – A family of five are dead after the remote cabin they were staying in exploded.

Neighbors began calling 911 at around 1 a.m. Sunday to report hearing an explosion and finding the cabin was gone and that the hillside it was on was now on fire.

Seven local fire departments arrived to help put out the resulting fire, but the 250-square-foot cabin was a total loss.

Killed in the explosion were Jerry and Jenny Drake, both 42, and their three children, ages 2, 8, and 11.

Neighbors say the family had been staying at the cabin on the weekends for about the last year.

What caused the explosion has not been reported but as of right now it is being reported as an accident.

There was a propane tank at the property but it has not been determined whether the tank exploded causing the fire, or if a fire caused the tank to explode.

The Washington State Patrol Crime Lab and investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were called to the scene.…

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Two men were killed when a young girl learning to drive accidentally ran them over.

The incident happened Monday night as a woman was teaching her 15-year-old daughter how to drive in the Aramingo Village shopping center parking lot.

The girl was learning how to park in a Ford Explorer when she accidentally went forward instead of going in reverse.

The vehicle ended up hitting two unidentified homeless men — ages 54 and 55 — sending them into the wall of a Dollar Tree.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene while the other died shortly after being taken to the hospital.

Police have not filed any charges at this time but are investigating the incident.

“It was a misfortunate accident, but why should a 15-year-old girl be driving a car with her mother in the passenger side?” asked a friend of the two men.

Criminal Defense Attorney James Funt says the mother of the teen will bear any possible legal repercussions.

Although the girl was under adult supervision, you need to be 16 years of age to obtain a permit.…

BUTLER, PA — A 17-year-old girl died when she fell in the shower and her hair clogged the drain, causing her to drown.

Brianna Rapp was taking a shower before school Friday morning while her mother was sleeping.

When her mother woke up she went to check on Rapp and found her in the bathtub, which was overflowing.

For reasons unknown, Rapp fell in the shower. When her hair clogged the drain it is believed she drowned as a result.

“We’re thinking she blacked out in the bathtub and fell and hit her head,” said Rapp’s father.

He went on to say that Rapp takes medication for a thyroid condition and has passed out a few times before.

The coroner has not yet released the official cause of death.

A GoFundMe page was created to help raise funds for Rapp’s funeral, but her father posted an update after the page reached $8,500 that read:

“We have decided that after funeral costs are paid and bills are paid, whatever money is then remaining we are going to start a college trust fund up for her brother Tyler (12) and sister Maddy (4) in memory of Brianne.”

For the parents who’ve had the shit scared out of them by these stories I post, please realize this is a freak accident.…

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The body of a woman missing from a mental health facility was found in a stairwell at the same San Francisco hospital where another missing woman’s body was found five years ago.

On May 20th, 75-year-old Ruby Andersen went missing from a mental health facility. According to her daughter, Anderson suffered from dementia.

On Wednesday, a Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital staff member found the woman’s dead body in one of the hospital’s stairwells. An autopsy is pending.

The stairwell Anderson was found in is usually is locked, according to hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan, and only accessible to maintenance workers.

“We are very concerned how this could have happened,” Kagan said.

I bet she is concerned, along with the Sheriff’s Department. See, this is the second time this has happened at the hospital in the last five years.

Back in 2013, we reported on 57-year-old Lynne Spaulding, a patient at the hospital who went missing from her room. She was found dead in one of the hospital’s stairwells two weeks later.…

WORCESTER, MA – A 71-year-old woman died after she fell into a fire pit in her backyard.

Jacqueline Cardinal was alone in her backyard last night when she reportedly fell into a fire pit. Her daughter’s husband found her 10 minutes later and called for help.

Unfortunately, she was so badly burned that there was nothing that could be done to save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, her death is being treated as an accident.

Cardinal was the mother of two and also raised four foster children with her late husband.

“She is the most wonderful woman there is,” her daughter said. “There isn’t anybody who would say anything different.”

While I was typing this up, I got a strange sense of déjà vu. I did a quick search on the site and sure enough, in 2015 I reported on a woman in her 70s dying after also falling into a fire pit.

We also have multiple instances of fire pit related deaths, including a baby dying after being dropped int one.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – A 9-year-old boy died after his head was crushed by a motorized room partition inside the gym of his elementary school.

The incident happened Friday afternoon at Franconia Elementary school after Wesley Lipicky and a teacher both pressed a button to open a large, motorized room partition in the school’s gym.

Somehow the boy was caught between the partition and the wall and suffered “traumatic head injuries” as a result.

Lipicky was rushed to the hospital where he later died. The death has been ruled accidental and no charges are expected to be filed.

Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Scott Brabrand said in a statement that the school district is “working closely” with law enforcement to review the accident, and “to review safety protocols and procedures.”

Going by the school’s Facebook page, it looks like Wesley was at the school helping setup a grade 3 to 6 fund-raising dance that was going to happen later that evening.

Crisis counselors are at the school today to support students, staff, and parents.…

HOUSTON, TX – A 10-year-old boy in Houston died after he was electrocuted while hiding inside a dryer during a game of hide-and-seek with friends.

On Friday, Fernando Hernandez Jr. was playing hide-and-seek with some other kids when he decided to hide inside a dryer in his apartment complex’s laundry room.

The kids he was playing with would find Hernandez unresponsive inside the dryer and called for help.

“I was just inside cooking… and my little son came inside and told me my son was dead on the floor,” said Hernandez’s mother. “He was purple and his eyes were open and he was gone.”

His parents performed CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived, but Hernandez would later be pronounced dead at the hospital.

When this was first reported, the cause of death was not known so I assumed someone turned on the dryer while he was in it, or he died of some kind of positional asphyxiation or suffocation.

But on Monday an autopsy would reveal Hernandez had been electrocuted.…
