Blizzard to Announce Starcraft 2?

May 17, 2007 at 1:00 pm by

Well, it looks as if we may be seeing a Starcraft 2. Rumors are flying on the eve of Blizzard making some sort of “secret game” announcement in front of a large group of South Korean gamers at their Worldwide Invitational. Another MMORPG is probably not in the cards as WoW is doing exceptional already. Also, some have pointed out the newly registered Starcraft2.com is now up. Also, last year, Blizzard Chief Operation Officer Paul Sams stated that there will be a “major project announcement in 2007” as well as

“StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time. As you probably already know, there is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2.”

Now obviously none of this truly means anything definite, as Blizzard has stayed quiet on the subject aside from letting everyone know about the announcement in general, but what do you think? Are all these Starcraft fanatics finally getting their wish after all these years?…

It’s been seven years since the Smashing Pumpkins played a live show, but that’s all about to change as the group debuts their comeback album, Zeitgeist.

The album hits the shelves on July 10th, but what remains unclear is exactly who is in the band. James Iha, D’arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf der Maur (who replaced Wretzky), three of the original members, have stated they are not a part of this reunion. This leaves Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin. Both key members, for sure, but is this really a reunion? It seems more like Billy couldn’t make it solo, or with his last band, so is he just cashing in?

As a Smashing Pumpkins fan, I will be checking out the CD, just out of curiousity, but with Wretzky and James Iha out of the picture, I am having a hard time beleiving this will be anything but a Billy Corgan album.…

This outstanding young man is 17-year-old Anthony Miranda. He has been accused of biting his 5-week-old daughter, Salyne Miranda, multiple times on her back. Doctors also found she had a fractured skull, broken collar bone and a fractured arm. Anthony only admits to biting her. The reason? Aside from being mad at the girl’s 15-year-old mother,

“I was frustrated,” Miranda said. “I had a lot going on in my mind, and she was crying when I bit her.”

Anthony has now been charged with serious bodily injury to a child and the infant is now in foster care. When asked if he would try to get custody back, Anthony stated

“Of course, with all my heart,” he said. “That’s my first child.”

Ho Killed By Hoe

May 16, 2007 at 10:39 am by

John Freeman, a 50-year-old man living with his mother, invited a tranny prostitute back to to the house. An argument of some type ensued resulting in Mr. Freeman beating the transvestite to death with his fist, feet and a garden hoe. After police were called, Mr. Freeman was found still kicking the body.

Mr. Freeman and the transvestite had a casual relationship in the past, and Mr. Freeman was aware of his companions anatomy so while a motive is still not known, it was not because of any genitalia surprises.

May Book of the Month – World War Z

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (Hardcover)

Author: Max Brooks (Author)
Hardcover: 352 pages
Paperback: Yes
Publisher: Crown (September 12, 2006)

From Publishers Weekly:
Brooks, the author of the determinedly straight-faced parody The Zombie Survival Guide (2003), returns in all seriousness to the zombie theme for his second outing, a future history in the style of Theodore Judson’s Fitzpatrick’s War. Brooks tells the story of the world’s desperate battle against the zombie threat with a series of first-person accounts “as told to the author” by various characters around the world. A Chinese doctor encounters one of the earliest zombie cases at a time when the Chinese government is ruthlessly suppressing any information about the outbreak that will soon spread across the globe. The tale then follows the outbreak via testimony of smugglers, intelligence officials, military personnel and many others who struggle to defeat the zombie menace. Despite its implausible premise and choppy delivery, the novel is surprisingly hard to put down. The subtle, and not so subtle, jabs at various contemporary politicians and policies are an added bonus.

Motive Unclear in Infant Mutilation

May 15, 2007 at 12:24 pm by

Katherine Nadal, the mother accused of completely severing off her infants sons genitals, was in court today. After a $100,000 bail was set she informed District Judge Denise Collins that “I don’t have the means. My family doesn’t have the means” when asked if she could post bail. She was appointed an attorney, Allen Isbell, but no motive has been given for the attack.

The father stated that the baby had colic for a few days and had been crying a lot, and Katharine tested positive for cocaine, methadone and a mild tranquilizer the day after the attack. The father has also terminated his relationship with Katherine and is attempting to get sole custody of the boy, who is currently in the custody of an Aunt. He was released to this family member after multiple surgeries. The severed parts were never found.

The Bionic Woman

May 15, 2007 at 10:50 am by

Premieres: September 1, 2007
Show Categories: Drama, Science-Fiction
Cast: Michelle Ryan (EastEnders); Mae Whitman (State of Grace); Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica); Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan); Chris Bowers (Rescue Me); Will Yun Lee(Witchblade); Molly Price (Third Watch)

Well, the people that brought you a newer, realer Battlestar Galactica are at it again. This time they are going to tackle the ’70s show, The Bionic Woman. In the updated tale, Jaime Sommers will be played by Michelle Ryan. A bartender who is also raising her teenage sister. After suffering a devastating accident, the only thing that can save her is some medical procedures of the top secret kind. It involves giving her two bionic legs, a bionic arm and a bionic eye.

This procedure comes at a price that will undoubtedly involve Jaime Sommers stopping crime or thwarting enemies with her newly acquired assets, while still managing her own life…or something like that.

Michelle Ryan may already be familiar to some as the actress in the British soap-opera, Eastenders, but if you are like me, I have never heard of her before.…

Half-Life 2: Episode Two Preview

May 14, 2007 at 11:37 pm by

Shacknews has posted an article detailing their hands-on preview of the follow up to Half-Life 2: Episode One. Along with some new screens, it is also full of spoilers, so if you do not want any of the story, new features or enemies revealed, I do not recommend reading it.

But let me say…I am such a nerd. I cannot wait to fight the Hunters that will make their debut in this installment. These guys are tiny versions of the larger Striders that were in the previous chapters. Early reports stated that the Hunters would hunt in packs, work together tactically to eliminate you from flanking to even gaining better ground if you have found cover. From this article, it seems as if they were not exaggerating.

It also talks about the new muscle car you will be driving in the games, as well as Alyx and her improvements. Alyx was a great example of how a sidekick should operate in a game like this, and now she is back again with more improvements, including being equipped with a boosted AI that will help her in the new arena style battles she will be taking place in such as taking cover, blind shots, etc.…

Boy, 11, Killed by Friend’s Father

May 14, 2007 at 1:49 pm by

HOUSTON – 58-year-old Raymond Shaw, a man who has been in poor health and whose wife passed away a few years ago, came home to find a group of boys in his house. The boys were there to see Raymond’s 13-year-old son. Raymond ordered all of the juveniles out of his house, but one boy, 11-year old Jonathan Dixon, allegedly pushed Raymond and cussed him before leaving.

Raymond then did what any of us would have done at that point, he grabbed his sawed-off shotgun, followed the boy into the yard, and then shot him in the back of the head.

Neighbors were able to get the gun away from Raymond as he was trying to reload.

Shaw is being held in the Harris County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
