When a bad day turns REALLY shitty…

July 10, 2007 at 9:32 pm by

A crew of septic tank workers were heading home after a pump job when they come across a fiery car accident that left the driver dead and the passenger (the driver’s 18yo cousin) trapped inside. Being the resourceful shit pumpers that they were, they brilliantly offered assistance.

Burdett: “We heard the man in there screaming, so we waited for the police to get there, and police showed up. We asked permission to put the fire out, with the pump truck, and they said ‘Go ahead, and do that’ so we backed the pump truck over there, and put the fire out.”

That’s right. 1500 gallons of raw sewage put out the fire and saved the passenger. I would have thought the methane would have made it go off like a Roman candle, but I guess not. The passenger is in the hospital with injuries that would not be life threatening if not for the risk of infection from the raw sewage. Firefighters were also being observed in the hospital because of the infection risk.…

Man robs bank dressed as a tree

July 10, 2007 at 7:02 pm by

Hmmm

He walked into the bank with leafy sticks duct taped to his head, demanded money, never brandished or even made mention of a weapon and made off with the cash. The clever disguise didn’t work, as someone recognized him from the above picture and called the police. See folks! Crime doesn’t pay.

July 10, 2007 at 2:47 pm by

UPDATE 7/23/08 – In a courtroom shocker today, Edwin Hall pled guilty to Kelsey Smith’s June 2007 murder in what was originally scheduled as a change of venue hearing. Hall apparently cut a last-minute deal for life without parole in exchange for a guilty plea on all counts: capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, rape and aggravated sodomy.

July 10, 2007 – Edwin Hall, 24, accused of kidnapping and killing Kelsey Smith, 18, now been charged with capital murder including rape and aggravated criminal sodomy charges.  …

Texas authorities are searching for a little girl in an online video who may have been given the drug ecstasy. The video shows a little girl around 2-years-old or so seemingly under the influence of a drug of some type. You will hear the females in the car talking about giving her “X”, or ecstasy. It’s kind of disturbing.

The pamphlet in the van as well as the radio station they are listening to has led investigators to suspect one or more of the people in the van are from the Houston area. Anyone with information on the girls’ identities should contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 361-782-3541.

Medicine Hat, Alta — You may recognize the pictures from an incident that we posted about last year. In a nutshell, when Jasmine Richardson was 12, she and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Jeremy Steinke, murdered her mother and father along with her 8-year-old brother after the girls father forbid her to see Steinke any longer. The case was reported pretty heavily for a multitude of reasons, her age, his age, the callousness of their actions before, during and after the murders, plus the fact taht the girl was a “goth” girl who frequented nextopia.com as well as vampirefreaks.com. During her trial, she stuck with the story that she was being controlled and afraid of her boyfriend and did what he told her. Her defense stated that she didn’t know her boyfriend was on his way over to her house the night of the murders. The night he stabbed her mother, father and then slit 8-year-old Jacob’s throat after she was unable to carry through with his orders to stab him.…

Holy Shit, PS3 to Number 1 with a Bullet

July 9, 2007 at 9:20 pm by

ImageShack

This is craziness.  With the price-drop, the PS3 just climbed 3,000% to overtake the Wii which has owned the top spot on Amazon since, well, forever.  Have people been virtual-camping while waiting on the price drop?  Something that they have known since day 1 that was imminent?  Or does the iPhone make everything else look like a good purchase right now?

With the 360 failure rates making news while the PS3 drops its price, and no games for the Wii, Sony has a chance to make up some ground during the next few months.  A PS3 price drop looks like you are getting ‘spensive shit at a decent price, a 360 price drop looks like you are getting shoddy equipment at a fair price.

Things finally get interesting.…

Big Willy

Set for an early ’08 release, THQ is building the Wii version of its hit series “Destroy All Humans!” from scratch. Officially titled “Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed” it promises to make good use of the Wii’s controller, allowing for much humanoid destruction.

In other DAH! news, a new installment called Path of Furon will be available for the PS3 & 360, also in early 2008.

Xbox 360 Price Cut Announcement on Tuesday?

July 9, 2007 at 4:18 pm by

Microsoft is holding its E3 press conference Tuesday evening in which they will supposeddly be announcing a price drop on the 360 console. Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter stated in a note to investors today that the price cut will affect all three Xbox 360 models. The $299 Core pack will drop to $249; the $399 Premium pack will drop to $349; and the recently released $479 Elite model will drop to $399.

Pure speculation at this point, sure, but not one bit surprising if it does happen.

Midway Games dazzles with Stranglehold

July 9, 2007 at 1:12 pm by

My much-maligned loyalty to all things Nintendo suffered a setback this week when I read Gamespot’s hands-on coverage for Stranglehold. Coming to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms, Stranglehold is directed by John Woo (Face/Off, Broken Arrow) and stars Chow Yun Fat as Inspector Tequila, a cop battling the mob. Billed as a “third-person action shooter” set in Hong Kong and Chicago, to hear Gamespot tell it, it is going to be a wild ride, and Gamespot only got to play one level! With such descriptive words as “graceful” “satisfying” and “pretty cool” it seems like this is going to be the E3 standout. Between cart driving, nightsticks, more guns than an Ahhhnold movie and “at will” slow motion effects, this game sounds like it has something for everyone. It ain’t a game for the kids though. This may push me over the edge and force me to get a 360.

If you ever watched a Chow Yun-Fat movie and wanted to kick as much ass as he does, this is probably your game.

Why the 360’s Failed

July 8, 2007 at 8:44 pm by

Here is a great article by Smarthouse explaining what happened with the 360 and the Red Rings of Death fiasco that is now costing Microsoft at least 1 Billion dollars.

As an example, the Sony PS2 had a return rate of between 1 & 2%. The PS3, which has only been in the market for 6 months is less than 1%.

Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division, declined in an interview to say what specifically caused the failures or how high the failure rate has been, but Asian manufacturers of the Xbox 360 which have been pressured by Microsoft to lower costs by as much as 15% say that the problem is caused by poor Microsoft design and the company buying low cost components in an effort to beat Sony.

Here’s the thing to ponder, could it be that Microsoft’s mistake will mean a victory in the end? Everyone has slammed the PS3 for being “too expensive”, but with the difference in failure rates, perhaps it could be that Sony spent and charged what was necessary, and Microsoft shafted the end-user in an attempt to fuck Sony.…

Teens Raped Mom, Forced Her Son To Do Same

July 7, 2007 at 8:25 pm by

WEST PALM BEACH – Avion Lawson, 14 (pictured), and Nathan Walker, 16, were jailed without bail on suspicion of armed sexual battery by multiple perpetrators, sexual performance by a child, armed home invasion and aggravated battery.

Avion Lawson stayed with his grandmother in the crime-ridden Dunbar Village public housing project. On June 18th, Lawson and other teens lured another resident and her 12-year-old son out of their apartment by knocking on the woman’s door at about 9 p.m. and telling her he had a flat tire. When the woman and her son opened the door, a group of up to 10 gun-wielding masked suspects forced their way into the woman’s home.

Over the next 20 minutes, the woman was raped and sodomized by up to 10 teens. Her 12-year-old son was beaten, had a plate smashed over his head, had various cleaning chemicals poured in his eyes and lastly, was forced at gunpoint to rape his own mother. After the assailants fled, the victims walked a mile to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where staff members called police.…

The Demon Dreams of MMA

Ahhh… the first MMA post on the revamped Dreamin Demon. I don’t know what took us so long. The big ugly brute that started, designed, and owns this wonderful website is a long-time MMA fan as am I. We are both from the Charlotte area, where UFC 2 came while it was running around the country avoiding state athletic commissions. We both went through the UFC lull that was the late 90’s, only to regain our love for the sport now that you can watch free fights on Spike and the PPV’s more often than not are worth their money.

So, here is a recent argument from commentator Joe Rogan on why MMA is overtaking boxing. Now that MMA is being shown on ESPN, and talks with HBO are in the works, and Showtime is putting on fights of their own, it looks like “Human Cockfighting” is here to stay. And so yet another personal hobby of Morbid’s and mine is going to be shoved down the throat of our reading public.…
