A South Boston man faces up to 105 years in prison on multiple charges of possession of child pornography.
Jerry Remines, 56, was found guilty of 11 counts of possession of child pornography earlier this week in a Halifax County Circuit Court.
During his bench trial, prosecutors showed Remines repeatedly accessed child porn on his cellphone between August and October of 2019.
The Commonwealth presented approximately 100 images Remines accessed, including images depicting the apparent sexual torture of children.
Remines participated in online chat groups, where he said he was "sick" and looking for "perverted" pornography, according to evidence presented in trial; he also asked to be added to "taboo" or "young" chat groups.
Judge Kimberly White, when announcing her verdict, noted the images were "exceeding violent and disturbing."
Remines also previously pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of nonconsensual filming of a nude person in the recording of a young woman undressing to shower while visiting his home.
Remines was sentenced to one year and four months for six of the misdemeanor counts.
