Two Oklahoma police officers are facing charges of murder for allegedly using their Tasers more than 50 times on a man who refused to comply with their demands, court documents show.

Wilson police officers Joshua Taylor, 25, and Brandon Dingman, 34, surrendered to authorities Thursday on second-degree murder charges in the July 2019 death of Jared Lakey, a 28-year-old man who died at a hospital days after being hit with stun guns “multiple times” by the two cops, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced.

Lakey died two days after encountering the officers on July 4, 2019, when Taylor and Dingman responded to a report of a man running down a street naked while screaming.

Dingman allegedly deployed his Taser 23 times — for a total of 114 seconds — as Lakey refused to comply with the officers’ commands, according to court filings cited by the newspaper.

Taylor, meanwhile, allegedly used his stun gun on Lakey a total of 30 times over a nine-minute span, or 122 seconds. In all, Lakey was tased for nearly four consecutive minutes within a nine-minute span, according to an affidavit cited by the newspaper.

Lakey never made any aggressive move toward either officer during the incident and both Taylor and Dingman never tried to subdue him by using their hands, which runs counter to department training methods, an OSBI agent wrote in court documents.

Lakey, who stopped breathing after he was taken into custody, died from multiple heart attacks and “critical coronary atherosclerosis and law enforcement use of electrical weapon and restraint,” according to records cited by the newspaper.

Arrest warrants for Taylor and Dingman were issued Wednesday. They were released on $250,000 bond, OSBI officials said.

“The death of Mr. Lakey saddens us all,” an attorney for both officers, Ryan Hunnicutt, told the newspaper in an email late Thursday. “We are confident that the legal system will provide an opportunity for all the facts to be known and look forward to our day in court.”

I knew he was white! I saw this reported elsewhere without knowing the race of the victim. First off I hadn't heard about it, so I knew he wasn't black because those lives matter! Then I saw he was running through the neighborhood naked! That's a white people ting. I left out the "h." Say it as written: "White people tings." Logical deductions.

You can't tell me that shit wasnt just for entertainment value after the third or fourth time though. Naked man in a ditch. That's just wrong. Thank God he's white so I can just laugh about it lol. Otherwise I'd be on the phone defending the white race to CNN until I was out of breath. Just so they could put a fucking hoody on me lol!

well, i'll be ....i did not want to laugh, yet i did chuck a chuckle but i hear ya in all seriousness... except, i really like cops so erm .. i kinda stuck on saying anything - they took it to far ( will that do )?? I shall lay down, so you guys can beat me up

Now, abt the bear, that would not comply --- what was this dude on ?? we not really getting the WHOLE story i doubt if he running naked, screaming like a ninja was in all fun just got to be more to this and i shall zip it-- for now

I love cops. Im team blue all the way. Objectively though. I just think they have greater intentions than almost all criminals.

I also take their side in most cases. Not blindly. The George Floyd case was a really bad one that can't be defended in any capacity due to the length of time that elapsed. However, Rayshard Brooks got EXACTLY what one should expect when behaving like he did. Lumping him into the same category as George Floyd is just further injustice to Mr. Floyd.

People are just so biased. Even with George Floyd. If we read a story on here about some "man" holding a loaded gun to a pregnant womans baby bump during a home invasion? We'd all be wishing the worst. Hoping the cops strangled him during his arrest. Wishing prison rape on him.

But now he's a national hero. Neither is right.

And cops should be allowed to apply choke holds. Don't resist arrest while assaulting cops and you won't get put into a choke hold. What's so hard to understand? Even George Floyd was resisting arrest. He'd be alive if he wasn't and I'm not even remotely suggesting that excuses anything that happened to him afterwards. But to say there's no personal accountability that falls on George Floyd? Is just untrue.
 


Jared Lakey was tazed over 50 times while cops refused to actually put handcuffs on him. It's like they genuinely thought the tazer would magically transport him into the back of the squad car cuffed and full detained. Then another officer shows up and strangles him for 40 seconds, which causes some blatantly labored breathing that just gets worse and worse until he goes out.

Oh and then they lied about the entire incident. Big surprise.

Not to mention, my title was VASTLY better, and should have stayed up as THE thread on this story with the prior one being merged to it, not the other way around.
