Family of missing woman speaks; boyfriend arrested

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The family of a missing Memphis beautician was still waiting Wednesday night for official word of her death over 24 hours after a body was found in the trunk of her car.

Action News 5 has learned Jacklyn Miller's boyfriend was taken into custody Wednesday night for questioning. He has not been charged with a crime.

Meanwhile, Miller's family fears the worst after a body was found in her car. They are preparing for what will likely be confirmation of Miller's death.

"They have not told us anything," said grandmother Sharon Valentine. "Have not heard a word."

A body was found in the trunk of Miller's car after it was recovered from the parking lot of an apartment complex nearly one week after Miller was reported missing.

Co-workers at a wig shop and salon set up a makeshift memorial with candles and photos of Miller. She was also known as "Pinky."

"We're trying to be as positive about this as we can," said co-worker Kuyeria Dowsing. "So, we wanted to show friends and family we care."

Many of those friends needed no official word from police to realize something terrible happened.
"It's a devastating blow to everybody that was close to her," said one friend.

"She was too young to go like this," said another.

Recent troubles between Miller and her boyfriend immediately prompted speculation among friends and family and some advice for other young women from Miller's grandmother.

"Depend on God and God alone, and not man," said Valentine.

She said she will be praying for her granddaughter this Thanksgiving.
