A bear rummaging through trash in a Los Alamos, N. M., dumpster, went for a wild ride last month when a garbage truck driver accidentally loaded it onboard.

"The driver didn't know the bear was in there, and he unknowingly dumped the bear into the truck along with the dumpster's contents," Julie Anne Overton with the Santa Fe National Forest told ABC. "He said he heard a squeal."

AP reports the bear, who climbed on top of the truck, rode for at least 5 miles. Then, the driver, guided by about 30 forest service and national park workers, backed the truck up to a tree so the bear could climb off. Caleb Johnson captured video of the escape.

The bear stayed in the tree for about an hour before heading back into the wild.

So much for hitching a ride to a landfill.

I'm glad the bear wasn't hurt. Maybe he'll keep his dumpster diving butt in the forest from now on. Not likely tho when there's such yummy stuff in the dumpster.

That was cute!

We have a lot of accidents in my area from wild life ...deer mostly.

However recently a woman hit a bear, and everyone said...holy fuck a bear, really,

Cool...we have bears now, because in my area of Canada the south western part,

he's like the first one, so I'm sure there is more, but he is far from home, because even

us Canadians are like, you belong up north little three hundred pound, it took six men to lift

you bear.

A bear is just a giant raccoon.

It only takes one person to guide a truck. The rest of them were just there to watch.
