I read in one story today from NBC that all the children were born in hospitals, so that pretty much rules out the possibility of a daughter being the mother. The same story has this tidbit:

An ABC7 story states that

It also says bail is now $12 million each.
Then there is this

Meanwhile, the grandparents are still in denial:

I will say only this:

Earlier reports said there was no sexual abuse.

Today we have been told there, in fact, was.

I will eat crow if none of those littles turns out to be a product of incest.

(I like Tony Chachere's seasoning on my crow, please)
[doublepost=1516327953,1516327811][/doublepost]And I do think they were model RADICAL Christians.

Fucking lunatics. Mutant Goddamned incestuous abusive hate mongering fundies.

I cannot stop reading about this.
I want to. Good gawds give the children privacy. But... I need to know more.
Why? Why did they do this?

Frankly, privacy is what allowed this depraved abuse. Sunlight kills the disease. As much as I feel for these babies, there needs to be a fucking spotlight on the evil done here.

Fuck. c-PTSD. I have c-PTSD as the result of a long term abusive relationship as an adult. It's a shit thing to deal with. But I do vaguely remember a relatively normal life many years before as a teen so I have something to relate to, something I can go back in my mind and go oh yeah, that's what it's supposed to be like. Most of these kids don't have that.

I hope one day at least one or two of them will be able to speak out the way Anne Marie and Stephen West did in England years ago.

So, according to the complaint, the sexual abuse was committed against a female, under 14 from 2012-2013...so maybe it was the now 18 year old? Or the sibling that was going to escape with her?

Maybe mom knew he was interested in teen girls and tried to keep the girls as young looking as possible so he wouldn't be tempted?

He was attracted to the wife's sister, according to her he watched her shower when she was a teen...wonder if that's when the starving started?

Count 13 is the one about lewd and lascivious behavior.

Did any one els hear the little tidbit in the video about when they lived in Texas?

He said the Turpin parents didn't live at the house they just came occasionally and dropped off food. Reporter asked where they did live, the speaker said they didn't know but was hoping that someone who knew would call in and tell them about their lives there.

I know. :(

It is horrific.

I still say he sexually assaulted probably all of those kids. Nasty fuck.

Count 13 outlines the lewd and lascivious charge against Jane Doe (Jor.T).

What the point of using Jane or John Doe if you're just going to put an abbreviation of their name in parentheses afterwards.

Among the most shocking claims of abuse were;

  • The children were made to stay awake all night and sleep all day, often going to bed at between 4am and 5am
  • Their only permitted activity was to keep journals - hundreds of which were recovered and will likely be used as evidence
  • David Turpin is accused of a lewd act against one child - one of his daughters, under the age of 14
  • The children had been planning to escape for two years before Sunday, when they were rescued
  • The 17-year-old daughter who raised the alarm left the house with another sibling but that child became frightened and turned back
  • The parents began using chains and padlocks to tie the children to their beds after one escaped with rope. They would sometimes be chained up for months
  • One of the older boys was allowed out of the home to attend college classes but Louise accompanied him there, waited for him until it finished then accompanied him home
  • The couple's youngest child, a two-year-old, was the only one they did not starve
  • The 29-year-old woman who was rescued weighed just 82 lbs
  • The children were tied up or beaten if they washed their hands 'above the wrist' because the parents said it amounted to them 'playing in the water'
  • The Turpins kept toys that were still in their boxes at the house but never gave any to the children
Early Sunday, authorities found their toddler to adult-aged children malnourished and shackled inside the filthy home alongside two happy and healthy one-year-old Maltese puppies.

Perris city spokesman Joe Vargo said in a statement Wednesday that the dogs, one black and one white, were in 'good' health condition - despite the fact that the couple's abused children were noticeably starved and taunted with pies they weren't allowed to eat.

As the children are currently in the recovery at two California hospitals, the dogs have been placed up for adoption.

Jeebus. And those kids are tall, too, making an 82 pound 29 year old even more horrifying.

One of the older boys was allowed out of the home to attend college classes but Louise accompanied him there, waited for him until it finished then accompanied him home

I'm guessing it was only so he could get a job and support them.

I think Old Navy is having a big azz sale right now.

I wonder if their sizes run too big, however.....although hopefully they will be gaining some weight soon.

Target has cute juniors stuff, too.

I'm taking the time to screen shot the charges.
Incoming.

NB: The reason that they're bringing 12 charges of abuse and torture is that the baby was well nourished (like both of the fucking breeder abusers), I'm assuming she was too young to be "sinful" enough to be "punished".
:rolleyes::arghh::wtf:

My theory is that mom only liked babies. Seems they have been shut in closets (vent in closet in old house, scratch marks on doors) for years. She kept popping out baby after baby but once they reached a certain age, they were just burdens to be locked away and given just enough to survive. 25+ years of abuse, it was a very thin line they rode that none died.

IMO, there was also a serious pregnancy fetish going on between one or both of the breeder units.

Both highly possible scenarios IMO.

Boy, does he look depressed! Looks good on him but he’s only getting a small taste of what he put his kids through. The “not guilty” pleas are always frustrating. The court process is such a chess game...

I wonder what the defence will be. I guess it would have to be mental illness because he, at least, as an engineer is bright enough to know better. She does seem kind of deranged and very needy. I think he liked being the king of the castle. All he had to do to keep her on his side was to remarry her and give her attention every few years. She’s damaged, but narcissistic enough to only care about herself and not the children. When it all shakes out, she’s going to say she was overwhelmed and was also afraid of him.

But they won’t be able to say their behaviour was wrong, because they knew enough to take steps to keep others out of the house. They knew enoug( to hide it all.

@Valasca thank you so much for posting the charges, and it's great to see that the prosecutors are throwing the proverbial book at these two hideous hobgoblins!
Although, I sadly suspect that the discovery process will uncover much more, and we'll see additional charges in the very near future.

If you'd like to donate to help the kids, cps is warning that all go find me accounts purporting to be for the kids are fake.

I didn't see this posted yet--apologies if I missed it. There's one authentic fundraiser for the victims; it's being held by one of the hospitals treating them. The link is: http://www.ruhealth.org/en-us/foundation/donate/Pages/PerrisSiblingSupportFund.aspx.

Myra Manes mentioned getting Fritzl vibes. That was the first case I thought of, too. Ironically, we'll soon be hitting (in April) the 10-year anniversary of when Elisabeth Fritzl and her kids were rescued.

I have wondered all week how many families like this are out there living off the grid and how many children are out there still suffering. This case is just horrid.

Hey guys-

I need to find the link, but one article I read said the “basic needs” list was already filled and they are asking for cash donations now. To be sent to the center, where they have started a fund. Supposedly so the adult victims will not be taxed.

I think it also said that they can still use arts/crafts supplies for both the adult and juvenile victims.

ETA: another idea is to think closer to home and make clothing/outwear/shoes donations to your local shelter or group home.

I think I am still gonna hit Old Navy today and drop off things at Provenance House. <3

I don't get Fritzl vibes because he admitted to violent rape fantasies from an early age and then focused them on his daughter. He made no religious excuses. Even when he imprisoned his children/grandchildren he didn't systematically shackle or starve them, though of course there was periodic punishment. He even brought a couple babies out of the dungeon to raise "normally".
The Robert hale family is the nasty vibe.

Meanwhile... This courtroom sketch is a caricature.

Kind of touching article about how the older siblings are coping and how much the hospital staff feels toward them.

The family was not living off the grid at all. They were hiding a suburban house of horror in plain sight and behind facebook facades.
The children were effectively shoved off the "grid" of normal human existence by their parents' abuse.

That article really does a good job of showing that those kids are freaking warriors--they are not catatonic or feral messes, which nobody could blame them for being--and showing that they are in wonderful hands. The nurses, doctors, and advocates caring for them sound pretty incredible and I suspect that they will remain a source of support/friendship for many years to come.

The girl who escaped and ended this nightmare deserves some kind of official commendation for what she did. She saved not only herself but 12 innocent people. She is truly a hero.

I've been kind of obsessed with this case and even joined Websleuths just to post on the million-page thread devoted to this case!

I hope this brings about real changes to the lax homeschool oversight in so many states. Loose homeschool regulations allow so many kids to slip between the cracks.

I'm loving the moms face now ... having her charges read in court seemed to wipe that glassy eyed crazed look she had on her face right off.
