SPRING, TX – A woman has been charged after being caught shoplifting inside a Texas Walmart and not mentioning her child was baking in her car in the parking lot.

On Wednesday, Dimitric Knight got caught shoplifting inside a Walmart. Police were called to the location after she tried leaving the store with more than $70 worth of makeup hidden in her purse.

It wasn’t until 40 minutes later, after Knight was arrested, that officers were alerted to the fact that Knight’s 7-year-old son was sitting in the car in the parking lot.

“At some point it came out ‘did you drive here?’..we determined she had a vehicle when we went out, we found a child in the vehicle,” said Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

The boy was found in the backseat of the vehicle that was not running with only one window down about four inches. The temperatures outside were above 90 degrees.

Deputies said the child was either not conscious or sleeping and they had to press on his legs for him to regain consciousness.…

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS – A man is (hopefully) re-examining his life choices after he was busted in a cemetery with five underage girls, two of which were passed out.

Authorities said 20-year-old Jordan McClain met a 16-year-old girl on Facebook and agreed to pick her up from her foster home.

After driving from Mobile to Ocean Springs Front Beach, the girl got in his vehicle along with four other girls.

The girls all ranged between the ages of 11 and 16.

The obvious mistakes McClain made up to this point are apparent, but compounded ever further after he drove them back top Mississippi and gave the girls Xanax and marijuana.

A resident would end up calling police to report seeing the group at the beach and that they seemed intoxicated.

The responding officer would locate McClain and the five girls in a cemetery and find that two of the girls were unconscious.

The two girls were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released. The five girls were returned to foster care, but McClain didn’t get off so lightly.…

FORT IRWIN, CA – Police have accused 24-year-old Rose Marie Smith with the death of her 4-year-old stepson.

Police were called to a home on June 7 on a report of an unresponsive child.

First responders would find 4-year-old Benjamin Schmittle unresponsive after allegedly having a seizure.

He was rushed to the hospital but because of the severity of his injuries, the boy was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center suffering from a brain aneurysm.

Benjamin would die the next day.

Investigators were informed the injuries Benjamin suffered did not appear to be accidental.

After interviewing family members, investigators arrested Rose Marie Schmittle.

She is facing charges of murder and assault on a child causing death and being held without bail at the West Valley Detention Center.

According to his family, Benjamin lived with his father and stepmother at the time of the incident. He would have turned five years old in July.…

MEMPHIS, TN — A woman in Tennessee got in some trouble when a concerned citizen recorded her transporting her two grandchildren inside dog crates.

On Saturday, someone shared cell-phone video online they had taken of 62-year-old Leimome Cheeks letting two of her children out of large dog crates located in the back of her SUV.

When police located and questioned Cheeks, she admitted she had driven from about 35 minutes with the two children, ages seven and eight, inside the crates.

“Leimome Cheeks was interviewed and admitted to riding from Whitehaven (a Memphis neighborhood) to Collierville with the children in the kennel,” a police affidavit says. “Cheeks further advised they also drove downtown, however she checked on the children periodically and later removed them from the kennel and put them in the rear seats of her vehicle.”

Cheeks was arrested and charged on two counts of child endangerment.

When police questioned the children, they said their grandmother put them in the crates because she didn’t have enough room for them to sit safely in a seat.…

WICHITA, KS – Emily Glass, the main suspect in the death of her stepson Lucas Hernandez, has committed suicide.

The body of 26-year-old Emily Glass was found early Friday morning at the home of Lucas Hernandez’ father. She apparently died from a gunshot wound.

No further details have been reported.

Glass was the main suspect in the death of her stepson, 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez, who was reported missing in February of this year.

Glass told police she had fallen asleep for a few hours and when she woke up Hernandez was gone.

Before he went missing, the state of Kansas was told at least twice that Hernandez was being abused and enduring a dysfunctional and violent family life.

It was alleged that Glass had bipolar disorder, abused meth, and routinely targeted the boy when she was angry at his father.

Then last month, Glass led a private investigator to the boy’s remains underneath a Kansas bridge.

The story regarding how that private investigator got Glass to lead him to the boy’s body could be turned into a movie, to be honest.…

PHOENIX, AZ – Police have accused a man of torturing his stepchildren by shoving toothpicks under their fingernails.

On March 22, a school counselor contacted the Arizona Department of Child Safety after a girl told the counselor her stepfather, 38-year-old Rafeal Oliver-Mendoza was abusing her and her two younger brothers.

Three children, ages 14, 10 and 12, were removed from the hone by DCS when one of the boys was found with red marks on his back and burn marks on his foot.

Two 16-year-old victims and another 14-year-old victim were not removed at that time.

Once away from their stepfather, the children told detectives that the abuse had been going on for the last four years.

They said Oliver-Mendoza doled out a host of different torture techniques against them, including having their hands or feet burned with a lighter, forced to walk in a circle and were hit with a wire if they stopped, and being hit with a belt, back scratcher, a hanger and a wire.

But that’s not all.…

JACKSON COUNTY, WV — Police have arrested a man who admitted he tried to quiet a crying baby by slamming her against a swing set and throwing her across the room.

The infant is around 2-months-old and was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital on Monday with injuries that cover about 40 percent of her skull.

The injuries were so severe, including nine skull fractures, that she was later flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Her condition is currently unknown.

Hospital staff determined the injuries resulted from the baby being hit numerous times in the held or had been hit with an object and not consistent with how she reportedly got them.

After determining the injuries were the result of child abuse or neglect, the hospital staff called police.

When police interviewed the child’s father, 21-year-old Dylan Ray, he told them he became frustrated with his baby crying and tried to quiet her. His technique was successful for all the wrong reasons.

According to the criminal complaint, Ray “grabbed the child by the torso region with both and hands and slammed her into her swing on numerous occasions and then threw her across the room into nearby furniture on numerous occasions.”

Ray was arrested and charged with felony child abuse.…

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH – An attorney has been charged after he left his girlfriend’s autistic 9-year-old in a hot car parked in a Home Depot parking lot.

A concerned citizen called 911 last week to report there was a young boy sitting in a parked car at Home Depot with the windows rolled up. The heat index outside was 94 degrees.

The man told the dispatcher that he opened the back door for the kid, which set off the car’s alarm.

“I don’t want to be standing here when the parents come out and I got his kid,” the caller told dispatchers.

When the dispatcher asked if the kid needed any medical help the man said yes because the boy was “slobbering at the mouth.”

After police and medical crews arrived to check on the boy, 65-year-old Paul Bayer runs up apologizing.

He explains the boy is his 36-year-old girlfriend’s kid and that he had forgot he was in the car and he’d went into Home Depot.

“He got real quiet, I forgot he was with me, I came here for a quick drum and I forgot I had him,” Bayer tells an officer.…

POINSETT COUNTY, AR – Police have arrested a woman in connection to the death of her one-month-old daughter who was found inside a clothes dryer.

Police were called to a mobile home Tuesday afternoon after the baby’s father found his daughter, Caseleigh, dead inside the dryer.

Both he and the baby’s mother, 25-year-old Tyra Neal, were arrested but charges against the baby’s father were later dropped.

Second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse charges were not dropped against Neal, however, and she is sitting in jail on a $1 million cash-only bond.

Family members say Neal has four remaining children.

No word on how the baby died, but the sheriff’s office said her body has been sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

No word on a motive, either. But I’m guessing a 25-year-old living in a trailer in the middle of nowhere five kids may have a little something to do with it.

Sheriff Kevin Molder said the immediate response of Arkansas State Police was the reason why they have been able to progress this case so quickly.…

LAS VEGAS, NV – A judge has sentenced a former school bus driver to life behind bars after he was convicted of molesting special needs children on his school bus.

Michael Banco, 58, was a Clark County School District special education bus driver who was responsible for 20 students on his route throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

In 2015 he was arrested after a 3-year-old girl told her family that Banco had been sexually molesting her on the bus.

Surveillance footage from inside the bus was reviewed and revealed Banco molesting and assaulting children in the back of a bus before dropping them off at school. The victims were only 3- and 4-years-old.

Prosecutors called it the most horrific case they’ve ever seen. And they work in Vegas, so you know it must have been bad.

Initially facing 41 counts, Banco pleaded guilty last month to one count each of sexual assault with a minor under 16 and lewdness with a child under 14.

On Wednesday, Judge Elisa Cadish called Banco’s crimes “incomprehensible” while sentencing him to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 35 years.…

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC – Police are calling the mother of a 1-year-old found dead after an abduction call as the primary suspect in the child’s death.

On Tuesday afternoon Breanna Lewis called police to report her 1-year-old girl had been abducted.

The mother who initially told deputies she was walking to her mailbox carrying her daughter, Harlee Lewis, when a man in a gold and tan SUV pulled up.

Lewis said a white man wearing a black glove jumped out of the vehicle and punched her several times in the face before grabbing her daughter and driving away.

An Amber Alert was issued but called off within a couple of hours. Investigators searching for clues in the area of the alleged abduction found Harlee.

She was dead and hidden inside a diaper box in a field near Lewis’ home. A cause of death has not been released at this time.

When taken into custody for questioning, Lewis eventually admitted to making the entire abduction story up.

She has charged with filing a false police report, but investigators say she is their prime suspect in her baby’s death and more charges are likely to follow.…

WICHITA, KS – The body of a 5-year-old boy missing since February has been located and his stepmother has been taken into custody.

Lucas Hernandez was reported missing in February of this year. His stepmother, 26-year-old Emily Glass, told police she had fell asleep for a few hours and when she woke up Hernandez was gone.

Investigators immediately began searching the area but could not find any trace of him. An Amber Alert because there were no indications the boy had been abducted.

The search for Hernandez ended on Thursday when his remains were found underneath a Kansas bridge. Police say his remains were not visible from the street and had been there for ‘awhile’.

Investigators say Glass led a private investigator to the area. She was still at the scene when police arrived and began the search that led them to the boy’s remains.

Glass was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail late that night for interference with law enforcement officer and obstruction. My guess is that those charges will be upgraded once a cause of death has been determined.…
