Purvi PatelSOUTH BEND, IN – A 33-year-old Indiana woman accused of ending her own pregnancy became the first woman in the U.S. to be sentenced to prison for feticide.

According to court documents, Purvi Patel arrived at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center maternity ward in July 2013 with an empty umbilical cord protruding from her nethers. She told doctors she’d miscarried and left the fetus in a dumpster behind her family’s restaurant.

Police located the dumpster where a male fetus was found dead inside a plastic bag. Patel stated she’d been aware of her pregnancy for approximately three weeks before she went into the bathroom where “it all came out.” She further stated she found the lifeless fetus amidst all the blood, so she attempted to perform CPR but was unsuccessful.

When detectives asked why she didn’t call 911, she stated she “didn’t know what else to do,” and didn’t want her parents to find out she’d had premarital sex, or had become pregnant as a result of her liaison with the baby’s father.…

Matthew ScottCUYAHOGA FALLS, OH – Matthew Scott has been charged with murder after authorities say he shook his infant daughter so violently that the baby died from head injuries.

On February 5th, Cuyahoga Falls police and firefighters responded to Scott’s home after receiving a call regarding an unresponsive baby. Scott told first responders that his daughter, 3-month-old Alivia Scott, “wasn’t breathing right” after he accidentally dropped her on the ground.

Medics performed CPR and rushed the baby to Akron Children’s Hospital, where doctors ran several tests, including multiple MRIs and X-Rays. It was discovered that she suffered from multiple injuries to her brain, skull, neck, leg, and internal organs.

She was placed on life support for 11 says until her mother agreed to take her off life support.

It was later concluded that Alivia died from “multiple system and complex traumatic injuries” stemming from a “complex and violent event” that did not match Scott’s version of how the injuries happened to his daughter.

Scott was arrested and charged with murder, felonious assault, and endangering children.…

Irvin reyesMEXICO – Four juveniles have been arrested in the murder of 14-year-old Irvin Reyes, whose body was found under the floorboards of a vacant house.

After Reyes went missing, anonymous postings began showing up on social media that taunted Reyes’ family by telling them that Reyes was dead and giving them gruesome clues as to where his body could be found.

Eventually they posted the address of a vacant house where they said the boy’s body could be found. Turns out they were telling the truth. Reyes body was found under the floorboards of that vacant home on Sunday.

“It was a particularly cruel way to tell his mother and father what they had done but they made a game of it,” said Commissario Tirse Diaz.

On Tuesday night, police arrested four teenagers, aged 15, 16, 16, and 17, in connection with the brutal slaying. Because of their ages, the boys will be tried for the grisly murder in juvenile court.

As for a motive behind the killing, the state attorney general’s office said that it was over a girl.…

Boots PharmacyLONDON – Police have been scouring the city looking for a woman who approached a mother and her one-year-old son in a Boots Pharmacy and apparently tried to choke the toddler.

The incident happened in January and was captured by in-store surveillance cameras. Police have now released the footage that shows the woman walking into the store and approaching a woman shopping with her 1-year-old inside a stroller.

The woman can then be seen reaching inside the baby’s buggy. The mother first thought the woman was just checking out her child, but quickly realized the stranger had her hand around her child’s throat.

The woman had such a grip on the child’s throat that you can see her pushing the buggy down the aisle while the boy’s mother frantically grabs at her hand in an attempt to stop her. The mother succeeded in stopping the woman from causing any injuries to her son, but admits she was terrified and traumatized by the incident.

A store security guard would intervene and escort the sexagenarian out of the store.…

Kimberly AndersonKANSAS CITY, MO – Kimberly Anderson, the 36-year-old woman accused of tossing her small dog off a third-floor balcony, may be out of jail soon.

Anderson was charged with felony and misdemeanor animal abuse and abandonment after police and animal control officers were called to Anderson’s apartment back in November. There they would find her severely injured dog, Roadrunner, on the side of the road.

One witness told police they watched Anderson wrap a leash around Roadrunner’s neck to pull him outside. She then left the dog there after she slammed him on to concrete before choking and kicking him. Another witness said he saw Anderson throw Roadrunner off of a third-floor balcony, then take the dog around the building but didn’t see either of them again.

Anderson denied abusing Roadrunner, claiming she loves animals. She says the dog ran out before she could stop him and then was hit by a car. She says she panicked and left the dog by the side of the road instead of getting him medical help.…
