DALLAS, TX – A woman in Texas has been accused of fatally shooting her husband because he was beating the family cat.

Police were called to a home on Saturday morning where 47-year-old Mary Harrison had just shot her husband, 49-year-old Dexter Harrison.

When questioned by detectives Harrison told them she shot her husband because he was beating on the family cat.

The man was taken to the hospital but he would die from his injuries.

Harrison was arrested on a murder charge and booked into the Lew Sterrett Justice Center. She is being held on $100,000 bail.

According to neighbors, the family moved into the home a few months ago with their two teenage sons. They mostly kept to themselves, but when the family cat went missing Harrison was seen posting missing fliers in the neighborhood.

“A man got shot over a cat? It’s kind of crazy. It’s unbelievable. A man loses his life over a cat. I mean, people love their pets, but it ain’t that serious… to die for a cat,” said neighbor Carl Phillips.

I’m sure there are a lot of people that agree with you, Carl. But I’m betting we will also see a lot in the comments who don’t.
