MIRAMAR, FL – An 8-month-old girl was mauled to death by her grandmother’s pit bull as she sat in a bouncy chair.

Miramar Fire officials responded to a home on Wednesday after receiving a call regarding a child that had been attacked by a dog.

When fire officials arrived they found 8-month-old Liana Villasin had been mauled by her grandmother’s pit bull.

There was nothing the emergency workers could do for the girl and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dog responsible for the attack was taken away by animal control, along with two other dogs that were in the home.

According to the girl’s grandmother, the girl was in a bedroom sitting in a bouncy chair when the male pit bull attacked. The dog was 3 to 4-years-old and had been owned by the family since it was a puppy.

The girl’s mother, Brenda Villasin, said she had dropped off her daughter at her mother’s house before she went to work.

“Nobody wakes up in the morning and says ‘you’re going to lose somebody you love,'” she said. “It just happens so when I heard about it. I’m numb right now. I don’t feel. I can’t express myself correctly. My emotions are all over the place.”

She went on to say that despite losing her daughter to a pit bull that she didn’t blame the breed of the dog.
