GYMPIE, AU – Police in Australia have charged three people with murder in connection to the death of a man who was pulled through an industrial wood chipper.

Back in November of last year, 54-year-old Bruce Saunders was with two men helping a recently widowed woman clear vegetation from her property.

Police were called to the location after Saunders was accidentally pulled into a woodchipper. As you can imagine, the scene was described as horrific.

“The injuries sustained were as horrific as you can imagine, being consumed by a woodchipper,” Detective Inspector Pettiford said.

Initially deemed an accident, police would start looking into Saunder’s death again after receiving information that his death may have been the result of a love triangle.

Turns out Saunders had once been in a relationship with the woman who lived on the property, as was one of the men he was working with on the day he died.

“After many months of very professional, painstaking and thorough work it’s culminated today with the arrest of the three offenders that we will be alleging murdered Mr. Saunders,” said Pettiford.

Two of those arrested were the two men who were working with Saunders the day he died — Gregory Lee Roser, 59 and Peter John Koenig, 61. The third person arrested was Sharon Graham, 57.

All three have been charged with one count each of murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

“The investigating police officers wish to thank the family members of Mr. Saunders for their ongoing cooperation and also to members of the community who offered information during the investigation,” Pettiford said.

Being run through a wood chipper has to be one of the most violent ways to go, in my opinion. If you are lucky you will go in head first. But as we’ve reported on before, that’s not always the case.
