YULEE, FL – Police have arrested a woman in connection with the disappearance of a woman who was reported missing after not picking up her children on Mother’s Day.

I had a half-assed article written up about the disappearance of 34-year-old Joleen Cummings but abandoned it as there just wasn’t a lot of information at the time. A lot has changed.

For those of you who may have missed it, Cummings was reported missing after she failed to pick up her children from her ex-husband’s home on Mother’s Day.

She was last seen leaving her work at Tangles salon the day before. Her car was found parked at a nearby Target, but Cummings hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Suspicion among the online detectives immediately fell on Cummings’ former boyfriend, Jason Gee, who had a warrant out for his arrest for something unrelated.

Before Cummings disappeared, neighbors reported hearing an argument between the two when Cummings would not allow him to stay at her house.

Gee was found in a home on May 15 hiding under some cardboard boxes and arrested on the outstanding warrant. He denied having anything to do with Cummings’ disappearance or knowing her whereabouts.

It’s looking like he may have been telling the truth because today police announced they have information that leads them to believe Cummings is no longer alive.

Joleen Cummings

They have not gone into any details on why they think that but did announce they had arrested Julie Sybert, one of Cummings’ co-workers at the salon.

According to investigators, surveillance footage showed Sybert was the one driving Cummings’ car and parking it at Target. She is also the person who was working with Cummings on the day she disappeared.

Even more disturbing, Julie Sybert isn’t even the woman’s real name. Turns out she had given her employer a false name — her real name is Kimberly Kessler.

Investigators found she’d given the salon a fake address and had been living out of her car.

Kessler had also been using a fake Social Security number and possessed a counterfeit passport.

The FBI has charged Kessler for the passport and local police have charged her with grand theft auto for allegedly stealing Cummings’ car.

Police have said Kessler is considered a suspect in Cummings’ disappearance.

NCSO tells the public it is asking anyone who had an appointment or stopped at Tangles on Saturday, May 12 to contact Detective Beazley at (904) 548-4005.
