FORT COLLINS, CO — The body of a woman who has been missing since Dec. 4 has been found in Lory State Park and her death has been ruled a homicide.

According to police, 41-year-old Kimberlee Graves was last seen alive at her home on the night of December 4. A few days later, a friend asked police to perform a welfare check at Grave’s home after not being able to contact her.

Police arrived at Graves’ home but were unable to do much when they found her car was not there and she did not answer the door.

On Dec 10, that same friend went inside Graves’ home and found that it had been thrashed. She then contacted police again.

While police did not find any evidence that pointed to Graves being injured or in danger, they did express concerns for her safety because of the suspicious nature of her disappearance and asked the public’s help in locating her.

“There’s no evidence that would indicate injury to Kimberlee, but because of the kind of suspicious circumstances, we are asking the community’s help to locate her,” said Fort Collins police spokesperson Kate Kimble. “We need to cast the nest a little wider to find out if anyone in the community might know where she might be.”

Graves was the owner of Spirit Tree Massage and described as an active part of the Fort Collins community. Her neighbor described Graves as being too friendly with people and expressed concerns about the people hanging out at her house lately.

A few days later, Graves’ 2015 RAV4 SUV would be found abandoned in a parking garage. There were no further developments reported regarding Graves until park rangers found her body at Lory State Park on Tuesday while doing routine work.

Her death has been ruled a homicide, but investigators have not said how she was killed. They have also not identified any suspects but are going back to interview her friends and acquaintances.

It was reported that Graves had drug-related issues in the past, and had lost custody of her two kids due to drug addiction. If this is true, and going by her neighbor’s comments, it looks like Graves may have been a little too trusting with the wrong people. I’m betting they’ll have a suspect identified within the next week or so.
