RIVERSIDE, CA — An 18-year-old has confessed to police that he has molested up to 50 children starting when he was just 10-year-old.

A woman flagged down a police officer at about 3 a.m. at the Magnolia Avenue Police Station to report her son, Joseph Hayden Boston, had molested two young boys hours earlier.

She said her son had called her to confess that he had just molested two boys, ages 8 and 4, that lived at the motel where he was staying.

According to Boston’s mother, the children lived at the motel with their parents, but had been allowed to go to Boston’s room Friday night to watch television. That’s when Boston sexually assaulted both boys.

Boston’s mother said she picked up her son and now she was at the police station so her son  could turn himself in.

When police interviewed Boston, he not only confessed to molesting the two boys at the motel, he said he’d also molested up to 50 children since the age of 10 in the different cities where he had lived.

“The suspect has been staying in Riverside since early Nov. 2017, but also resided in the cities of Lakewood and Buena Park in Southern California,” said Officer Ryan Railsback.

Boston was arrested on suspicion of two counts of oral copulation on a child under the age of 10. He’s currently in the Robert Presley Detention Center on $1 million bail.

“This is going to affect not only the victims for a long time, but also our detectives and officers involved in this — to hear someone just be very open about what they’ve done, and they’re only 18 themselves,” said Railsback.

Police have opened an investigation into Boston’s claims and are looking for other children Boston may have victimized. Police are asking anyone with any information to contact Detective Paul Miranda at 951-353-7945.
