SPRINGFIELD, VA – An elderly man killed himself with a chainsaw last week after attacking his wife with a hatchet.

The incident happened last Wednesday when a 70-year-old man attacked his 76-year-old wife in the foyer of their home.

A family member arrived at the home and witnessed the man beating his wife with the blunt side of the hatchet and managed to get inside to help her.

“The family member was able to rescue the victim, bring her outside,” said Fairfax County Police Officer Reem Awad. “At which point, the male suspect did follow outside and a struggle ensued over that ax. 911 was called at that point and we responded.”

When police arrived, the man had already retreated back inside the home and locked the doors. One of the officers looked through the garage window and saw the man lying on the floor with severe injuries to his upper torso.

“I could see that the lady was really confused and kind of like in shock, and her hands was probably injured, cut,” said a neighbor. “Then I saw them finding the older gentlemen and brought him to the garage, put him on the ground and he was bleeding tremendously.”

The man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The injuries he suffered turned out to be self-inflicted and caused by a goddamn chainsaw. His wife was also taken to the hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries and expected to survive.

Police are not releasing the identity of the husband to protect the identity of the victim.

This man isn’t the first person we have ever reported on who used a chainsaw to kill themselves. We had a woman in California who used one on her own neck, and a guy in Pennsylvania who used one to kill his wife before turning it on himself.

Speaking of chainsaw deaths, any of you ever watch that video of a Mexican drug cartel using a chainsaw on one of their rivals? Until I saw that shit, I always thought a chainsaw to the neck would be a quick way to go.
