PENSACOLA, FL – An 8-year-old girl was killed after her 325-pound cousin sat on her for misbehaving.

Last Saturday, 69-year-old Grace Smith was having some issues disciplining her daughter, 8-year-old Dericka Lindsay.

Deciding she needed some help, Smith called the girl’s cousin, 64-year-old Veronica Posey, for some backup.

When Posey came over, she hit Lindsay with a ruler and metal pipe before the girl ran to an armchair.

Seizing the opportunity to calm the child down while exerting little to no effort, Posey held the girl on the chair by plopping her fat ass on top of her.

After about 10 minutes, the girl complained from underneath her cousin’s mud flaps that she could not breathe. Posey stayed on top of the girl for another two minutes before getting up and realizing Lindsay was not breathing.

Posey called 911 and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but it was too late — the poor girl would be pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police arrested Posey and charged her with homicide and cruelty toward a child. Lindsay’s parents were charged with child neglect.

As you may have suspected, the Florida Department of Children and Families have had past dealings with the family.

“As the family has a prior interaction with the child welfare system, a thorough quality assurance review will be conducted to review all prior interactions this family has had with the child welfare system,” they said in a statement.
