BALTIMORE, MD – An 18-year-old has confessed to raping and murdering a homeless woman before sexually assaulting her corpse.

Jessica Gibson, a 35-year-old homeless mother of four, was found murdered on a Baltimore access road on Wednesday morning.

Investigators reviewing surveillance footage from the area showed Gibson interacting with James House shortly before police believe she was murdered.

The interaction was not “volatile” and, according to reports, House and Gibson were known to each other. To what extent has not been released.

Investigators also found some video footage from a convenience store in which House tells someone that he believes he was the last one to see Gibson alive. Interested in talking to House, police released his picture online.

It didn’t take long before police were contacted by someone who was able to identify House. The teen turned himself into police for questioning after he saw his picture being shared on social media.

During this interview, House eventually admitted that he raped and murdered Gibson then, not satisfied, sexually assaulted the poor woman’s corpse.

House was arrested and is now facing a slew of charges, including first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree rape, four sex offense charges, perverted practice, two assault charges and reckless endangerment.

“Our homeless outreach team was familiar with her,” Baltimore police media relations Chief T.J. Smith said. “She did have four children. It doesn’t mean she didn’t have people. She had some life issues going on, but that doesn’t mean she was any less of a victim.”

A GoFundMe page has been created to help pay for Gibson’s funeral and cremation.
