Juanita GomezOKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Police have arrested a woman after they say she killed her daughter by shoving a crucifix down her throat.

It happened on Saturday when 49-year-old Juanita Gomez attacked her 33-year-old daughter, Geneva Gomez, because she was “possessed by the devil.”

During the attack, police say Gomez forced a crucifix down her daughter’s throat and then watched her die.

“She’s just lying there with her arms out. Her face was like, I couldn’t even recognize it,” said the victim’s boyfriend, Frankie Merlos.

“She kept mumbling ‘devil’ and ‘money,’” said Merlos, who added Gomez tried to prevent him from leaving or calling police.

“I just shoved her, pushed her out of the way so I could run, and then she tried to, like, choke me,” Merlos said. “I ran to the car, and locked the car, and called 911.”

Gomez admitted to investigators that she was trying to get the devil out of her daughter by beating her and forcing a crucifix and religious medallion down her throat.

After watching her daughter die, she admitted arranging her daughter’s body in the form of a cross.

Gomez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail without bond.

During her first appearance in front of a judge, she spent a lot of time complaining about the jail conditions. She also informed the judge she didn’t need a public defender because she already had a lawyer.

“Yes sir he believes in God like me,” Gomez informed the judge. “Yes he’s the best in town.”

Gomez has spent time in jail on gun and drug-related charges and was convicted on a drug trafficking and gun possession charge in which she received a 10-year suspended sentence.
