Patrick ThompsonGOODYEAR, AZ – A father of four was arrested after he sacrificed the family dog because he didn’t agree with his 17-year-old daughter’s T-shirt.

According to reports, 42-year-old Patrick Thompson became upset with a shirt that his teen daughter was wearing because he felt it was Satanic.

Thompson, the owner of Raging Cajun Smoking Barbecue, instructed his daughter to take off the shirt and bring it to a traveling BBQ trailer he had parked outside the home.

After burning the shirt in the smoker, Thompson instructed his family that God had commanded he now sacrifice a male.

Since God didn’t specify what species of male needed to be sacrificed, and Thompson didn’t want to sacrifice himself or his 6-year-old son, he decided to sacrifice the family’s 15 pound poodle.

As his family pleaded with him not to harm the dog, Thompson broke the dog’s neck. But this wasn’t to God’s satisfaction, Thompson would later tell police. The dog needed to be put in a “lake of fire.” That’s when he put the dog in the smoker.

When police and firefighters arrived at the home, Thompson was found lying on the sidewalk and the dog’s body was still burning in the smoker.

Thompson would tell police that he had to “do it for God” and that the “Devil made him do it.” He also told them he’d smoked weed earlier that day and had a vision that something bad was going to happen to his family and that the “Lord was going to kill him.”

The dog’s aroma must have been pleasing to the Lord, as Thompson is still alive and charged with animal cruelty, assault, threats against his family and tampering with evidence. The state has requested that Thompson be held in the Fourth Avenue Jail on $100,000 bond or more for the safety of his children.

One of his daughters posted on the Raging Cajun Smoking Barbecue Facebook page, stating that her father “had a mental breakdown from the stress of the business and other problems as a way of relieving stress he turned to drugs it wasn’t the most responsible decision but this could of happen to anyone of us.”

As you can imagine, others have also taken to the Facebook page to post about the incident and the “braised poodle.”
