Deorr KunzLEADORE, ID — Six months after 2-year-old Deorr Kunz Jr. vanished from an Idaho campground, police are naming his parents as suspects.

For those of you unaware of this case, the toddler disappeared from the Timber Creek Campground last July while camping with his family.

His parents, Deorr Kunz Sr. and Jessica Mitchell, thought the boy was being watched by his grandfather when they decided to do some exploring. When they returned and realized their son wasn’t with the rest of the family, the boy’s grandfather told them he thought he was with them.

After 30 minutes of searching, the family called police. What followed was an intensive search using police, search and rescue teams, dogs, people on horseback and atvs, and even a helicopter.

Approximately 150 people scoured a 2.5 mile radius surrounding the campground, sonar equipment was used to search a reservoir located a half a mile from where the boy was last seen, and a wolf’s den was even searched.

Absolutely no trace of Kunz has ever been found. Zilch. Nada. Zero. This has led some, including the boy’s parents, to believe the little boy was abducted.

But police say there is absolutely no evidence of an abduction and that the boy’s parents have been “less than truthful” regarding the disappearance of their son. Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman named the parents as suspects on Monday and said that he believes they know the location of their son and whether he’s dead or alive.

Despite this, no arrest warrants have been issued for the couple at this time. As I stated in the original article, my hinky meter did not fire off during the initial reporting of the story. But now, with no evidence at all and Bowerman’s “less than truthful” comment?

I dunno. What do you guys think? Anyone been following this story over the last six months have any more details?
