Clyde RuppelALLENTOWN, PA – Police have accused 73-year-old Clyde Ruppel of stalking a 13-year-old boy for the last two years, including following him and sending him love letters.

Ruppel is a convicted sex offender whose activities have had him facing a slew of charges for the last four decades. He had four prior misdemeanor charges for corrupting the morals of a minor in 1965, 1975, 1976 and 1993 that he did not serve any time for. However, in 1976 he was convicted of indecent assault.

In 1996, Ruppel admitted to repeatedly taking two boys, ages 7 and 9, to a park near his home where he would perform oral sex on them and have them return the favor. He was charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, corruption of minors, and indecent exposure. He was eventually sentenced to six to 15 years in prison.

Now it seems Ruppel is back to his old tricks. According to his latest potential victim, Ruppel would watch from his car as the he rode his scooter when he was 11. The boy’s father said Ruppel would watch his son play outside and on three occasions in the last month Ruppel slowly followed the boy in his car as he walked home from school.

Even creepier is the fact that Ruppel has left four letters on the car of the boy’s father. They were signed and said the boy should come to Ruppel’s house for an “all males night.” To ratchet up the creep factor, Ruppel attached peach roses to the letters.

Police arrested Ruppel on Tuesday and have charged him with stalking. He is currently in Lehigh County Jail on $25,000 bail.
