Andrew HaynesCALHOUN, GA – Police have charged Andrew Haynes, Fields Chapman and Damon “Avery” Johnson, all 18-years-old,  with aggravated sexual battery after an alleged attack on a girl inside a cabin during a post-prom party earlier this month.

Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson said the charges stem from an incident that happened earlier this month inside the bedroom of a cabin at the Coosawattee River Resort. It’s being reported that an 18-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by the three teens during an “out of control” drinking party attended by as many as 27 people. The victim ended up hospitalized for several hours the next day for “substantial” injuries.

Nicholson said the arrests were made after more than 50 interviews — including someone who witnessed the assault, studying forensic evidence, and enlisting the help of sexual assault experts. He went on to say that they were not able to charge the teens with rape because they’d used a foreign object on the victim.

He declined to elaborate when questioned about this, only stating that what happened to the victim was not “true rape” as outlined by the law.…

Tara FitzgeraldWOODBURY, MN – Police in Minnesota have charged five teenagers with murder in connection to the death of 17-year-old Tara Fitzgerald, who overdosed on a synthetic drug she thought was LSD.

In January, Fitzgerald would die hours after taking what turned out to be 25i-NBOMe, a synthetic drug called N-Bomb that we’ve featured on the site before that causes heart failure and bleeding on the brain. The straight-A student was at home with a friend, celebrating the fact that she’d scored a 30 out of 36 on her college readiness testing exam.

At around midnight, while Fitzgerald’s parents were sleeping upstairs, the girls took the drug. The next morning, Fitzgerald’s friend called her mother when she found her friend unresponsive and moaning. Fitzgerald was rushed to the hospital, but it would be too late and she would be pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The autopsy would conclude the teen died from complications of 25i-NBOMe toxicity.

During their investigation, police were able to get some teens to roll over on each other.…

John DeweesENFIELD, CT — Police say 49-year-old John Dewees Jr. got tired of changing his sick wife’s diaper so he beat her to death after she soiled herself again.

On May 22, one of John’s’ neighbors called police to report that John had came by and told him that his wife, 45-year-old Anja Dewees, was dead inside his home. When police arrived, Anja’s body was found on the bedroom floor wrapped in plastic.

John initially told police that he’d killed his wife after he dropped her in the bathtub while giving her a bath. Anja was suffering from liver disease and was bedridden, so he was responsible for the cooking and cleaning, as well as bathing his wife and changing her diaper.

But the medical examiner’s report showed that Anja suffered more than an injury resulting from a simple fall in the bathtub. She had a large bruise on back of her head, blood coming from her right ear, a cut over her right eye and numerous bruises over her body.

Presented with these facts, John eventually told the whole truth.…

Jim KarrCHICAGO, IL – Jim Karr, a well known figure in the specialty coffee community, died on Saturday after a commercial coffee machine he was taking down fell on top of him.

The 48-year-old was at an event at Grant Park dismantling the coffee machine when he lost his balance. Karr grabbed the machine to prevent from falling and the machine fell on top of his head and body, said police.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later from multiple crushing injuries to his head and chest. His death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

From what I can gather, Karr was kind of a big deal within the coffee community. He was a technician who installed, repaired and modified coffee brewing equipment, and considered by some as the best in the country. His company, SteamVolt, was dedicated to “advancing the mechanics of craft coffee.”

“In terms of the work Jim did, he was one of the very few in the country that was known as being a top expert at what he did,” said Nicholas Cho, of Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters.…

Patricia TavernierLAKE COUNTY, FL – Police say 52-year-old Patricia Tavernier said “for 52 years of shit” as she dumped her 73-year-old mother out of a wheelchair and in to the street.

Tavernier had been inside the Ruby Street Grille celebrating her 52nd birthday with her sister and her mother, who had been staying with Tavernier while recuperating from a broken hip.

Something happened during the dinner that got an intoxicated Tavernier upset, leading to her wheeling her mother out of the restaurant and dumping her head first off the curb. Witnesses say that afterwards, Tavernier hit her sister several times in the face with a camera.

When police arrived, they found Tavernier’s mother lying in the street in the fetal position. She was taken to the hospital after complaining about hip pain.

Tavernier was later arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a person over 65, a felony. She was also charged with misdemeanor battery for beating on her sister. She has since been released from the Lake County jail on $20,500 bond.…

Justin HoskinsPhoenix, AZ – Police have charged 16-year-old Justin Hoskins as an adult on suspicion of child abuse after a 5-year-old boy he was babysitting died from severe brain injuries.

According to police, Hoskins lived with his father and his father’s girlfriend. On Sunday, Hoskins was left to take care of his father’s girlfriend’s three children – ages 5-years-old, 3-years-old, and 4-months-old.

At some point during the day, Hoskins got angry with 5-year-old Ian Blair after he instigated a food fight with his 3-year-old sister. Things got worse when Ian refused to stand in a time-out corner as Hoskins instructed.

In response, Hoskins shoved Ian in the chest so hard that the boy’s head buckled back and he lost his balance. When he fell, he hit his head on the ground so hard that he was knocked unconscious. Instead of calling for help, Hoskins freaked out and placed the unresponsive boy in the bed.

When he checked on Ian later, he noticed the boy had vomited, but still did not call for any kind of medical assistance.…

Chance WernerBARTOW COUNTY, GA – Authorities say 18-year-old Chance Werner drowned while playing a shopping cart game at Lake Allatoona.

A spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources says that Werner and some friends were playing a game at Holiday Harbor Marina Saturday night that involved being pushed off a dock while riding inside a shopping cart.

Normally, the cart is tied to a pole so the rider would “pop” out of the cart as it was forcefully pushed off the dock and the person would simply swim back to the dock. But when Werner took his turn, he opted to have the cart tied to his belt loop instead.

Sadly, things didn’t go quite as planned. The weight of the cart ended up pulling the teen 30 feet below the surface of the lake and he was unable to break free. I did a little checking, and it turns out that an average shopping cart weighs around 30 pounds.

Rescue teams wouldn’t recover Werner’s body until three hours later. When found, he was still tied to the cart.…

Laura Jean ShouldersOKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Laura Jean Shoulders was sentenced to 27 years behind bars after the 46-year-old pleaded guilty to making videos of herself performing sex acts on a one-year-old girl and sharing the videos on the Internet.

According to court records, Shoulders met a man in Oklahoma through a Craigslist ad in 2012. The pair exchanged messages that eventually led to Shoulders sending the man videos she recorded with her cell phone that showed her performing sex acts on a one-year-old girl she was babysitting.

In turn, the man in Oklahoma would share the videos to other pedophiles online.

Shoulders was arrested in December and would plead guilty to producing child pornography in February. This past Wednesday, Shoulders was sentenced to 27 years in prison without the possibility of parole. She got lucky, as she was initially looking at a possible 90 years behind bars.

You would think that women so desperate for a man’s attention that they’re willing to chow down on a 1-year-old’s vagina would be a rare thing, but in the last few years we’ve had several stories of women who’ve recorded themselves sexually abusing children for the enjoyment of men they’ve met online.…

Miranda HerreraSAN ANTONIO, TX – A teen has been charged with murder and attempted murder for her involvement in a December fire that killed her brother and seriously injured her father.

Back in December, a fire broke out in the home of  19-year-old Miranda Herrera. Her autistic brother, 22-year-old David Herrera Jr., died in the fire. Her father, 49-year-old David Herrera Sr., was hospitalized with serious injuries and remains in a facility that provides around-the-clock care.

Hours after the fire, Herrara was on Facebook posting about the fire: “Their was fire at my house my brother and my dad was in there i got out sadly my brother passed away on the way to the hosptle i love my brother so much and i miss him,” she wrote.

An investigation concluded the fire was an accident, possibly started by a Christmas tree. But that changed this past Tuesday when Herrera told a school staff member that 17-year-old Sari Rodriguez was telling people she was responsible for the house fire.

This piqued the interest of SAPD homicide detectives and they began an investigation into the claims.…

Shamika ReavesCHARLOTTE, NC – Shamika Reaves and her boyfriend, Corey McCree, have been arrested after Reaves’ 3-year-old boy was found nearly beaten to death inside a Charlotte hotel room.

Police were called to the Charlotte Express Inn around 3:45 in the morning after Reaves’ boyfriend, McCree, called 911 asking for an ambulance. When police arrived at the scene, they found the boy unconscious and suffering from critical injuries.

The boy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where doctors found he was suffering from severe head trauma and had been sexually assaulted. The boy’s grandmother told reporters that the couple had crushed the boy’s bones and mutilated his genitalia.

“The whole left side of his head is gone. When I look at his private area — his private area — Oh, God,” said Felisha Brown. I haven’t found a published report of this, but I heard a rumor on the radio that the boy’s penis had been chewed on.

Reaves was in tears during her first court appearance as the judge told her she was being charged with felony child abuse.…

RatPoison1Brooklyn, NY – Two boys, ages 9 and 12, have been arrested after they allegedly put rat poison pellets in their teacher’s water bottle.

According to reports, the boys were at PS 315 in Flatbush on Monday when they decided to spice up one of their teacher’s water with some poison. The boys were busted after another student saw what they had done and reported it to their mother, who contacted the school.

School officials ended up calling police after rat poison pellets were found in one the boy’s backpacks. The teacher had already drank from the water bottle and ended up going to the doctor for some mild nausea. The fourth-grade teacher was treated and released.

Both boys are now facing charges of attempted assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, said police. According to the police commissioner, the boys put a small amount of the poison in the teacher’s water because “the 9-year-old wanted to see what the reaction would be.”

“God knows where kids get these ideas,” he said.…
