INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A community is reeling after a 14-year-old girl stabbed her 4-year-old cousin to death.

The kids were in a front room of the two-story apartment while the grandparents were upstairs. Leon’s sister ran upstairs to get them when the older girl’s temper started to get out of control over reasons unknown. The suspect’s Godmother told reporters that teen treated Leon “like she was his mother” and that she would have never done anything to harm the boy. She also said the girl’s mother has been hospitalized due to stress.

“I’m not really concerned how it happened,” she said. “I just want everybody to get better.”
