Los Angeles, CA — Jose Hernandez, 27, and Vanessa Del Pilar Martinez, 20, were arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly attacking a 59-year-old school crossing guard in the presence of a group of children. Police say the female crossing guard was helping about 20 children across the street when Hernandez attempted to turn his SUV into the intersection. The victim raised her stop sign and told the occupants of the vehicle, You have to stop, the children come first. Hernandez began yelling at the guard while an enraged Martinez reportedly exited the SUV, approached the crossing guard, and started beating the snot out of her as the children looked on. According to police, Hernandez then got out of the vehicle and yanked the crossing guard’s stop sign from her hand while Martinez snatched a lanyard holding a whistle from the victim’s neck before fleeing the scene. Several adult witnesses provided police with a license plate number leading them directly to Hernandez and Martinez. Investigators say the guard’s stop sign was found inside the suspects residence and both are now being held on $50,000 bail.…

Tysons Corner, VA — Two-and-a-half year-old Angelyn Ogdoc died early this morning after succumbing to injuries she sustained after being tossed off of a fifth-level walkway by her grandmother, 50-year-old Carmela Dela Rosa. According to police, Dela Rosa and other family members were on the elevated walkway Monday night, walking from the shopping mall to the parking garage, when, for whatever reason, Dela Rosa picked the toddler up and tossed her over the waist-level guardrail to the pavement 40-50 feet below. Dela Rosa and the toddler’s other relatives remained at the scene until police and paramedics arrived. Initially charged with aggravated malicious wounding, Dela Rosa will likely face manslaughter or murder charges in the horrific incident. She is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. While there is a security camera on the walkway, it is unknown if the incident was captured. Thanks, Dakota, for bringing this one to our forums. …

MARINETTE, Wis. — The 15-year-old sophomore at Marinette High school who held 23 classmates and a teacher hostage for more than five hours on Monday shot himself after police entered the classroom. The teen was well-liked and a good student and as of now, no one is sure why he decided to hold a class hostage. Reports are that students were watching a film in class, when the teen pulled out a gun and shot at the projector. Witnesses say he seemed depressed, talked with the students about hunting and fishing and made no demands or requests of authorities. The only communication he made with police was through the teacher, who acted as a mediator, via a cell phone. At around 8:00 p.m., police heard three gunshots fired inside the classroom and made entry. They confronted the student, who responded by shooting himself. Once inside police would find a duffel bag containing ammo as well as shell casings from a .22-caliber semi-automatic and a 9-millimeter semi-automatic. The suspect is currently in the hospital in serious condition, none of his hostages were physically harmed.…

JEFFERSON, Wis. — No crime here, but just a bizarre accident at a high school swimming pool that seemed more like a scene out of a movie. On Monday, students were in the pool at Jefferson High School during a swimming class. The pool is equipped with an underwater viewing window that allows people to see in the water during swim and dive meets. This window ruptured for reasons unknown and as the water was sucked through the hole, a 17-year-old student in the pool got sucked through as well. The gym teacher, Greg Fetherston, saw what was happening to the student and jumped in to help and was pulled through the window as well. Both student and teacher ended up in the pool’s mechanical room six to eight feet below but Fetherston was able to get the student out safely. Fetherston suffered some minor cuts but the student’s injuries were a bit more serious and he was flown to UW Hospital, where he was still hospitalized Monday night. WISC-TV reported the pool was built in 1967 and a new pool is scheduled to open at the school next year.…

Olympia, WA — Dameon Ray Parker, 30, was arrested early this week on suspicion of felony animal cruelty after allegedly hacking the head off a “stray” cat with a dull machete and bragging about the cruel deed on his Facebook – even offering the cat’s head up as a trophy. Police say Parker lured the cat to his home, held it down on a railroad tie, and delivered nearly a half-dozen blows to the critter’s neck with a dulled and rusty machete. “That animal died a very, very painful, slow death,” said Erika Quinn of Thurston County Animal Services. Law enforcement officials were notified after friends and others read about the caticide on Parker’s Facebook. Parker admitted to killing the cat, telling investigators it was a stray that continually “got into his stuff.” Police say the cat had a microchip and belonged to a neighbor. The cat’s body and head were recovered, as was the machete used in the decapitation. On top of the animal cruelty charge, Parker was also charged with violating a no contact order.…

HAMILTON, Ohio — Police have arrested 44-year-old William Manis, accusing him of holding a prostitute captive for more than a week and raping her repeatedly. The 22-year-old woman says she went with Manis willingly, but once inside his home things turned all kinds of messed up when he tried to shove his knit cap in her mouth. “I started screaming and fighting, and he grabbed me up by my hair and threw me in the closet and started beating me with a pair of handcuffs until I quit moving and talking,” the woman said. “He would slam it so it was all the way shut, and he would take a nail and hammer it in the door so it wouldn’t open.” She says she was kept in a closet as a sex slave, raped 18 times over the course of 10 days. “He would let me out only when he wanted to talk to me, rape me, feed me or bathe me,” she said. Whenever visitors would show up at the home, she would be hogtied and gagged inside the closet so she could not move or alert anyone she was being held against her will.…

NORCO, La. — Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with the beating death of 78-year-old Mary Arico. She was a loner who didn’t have much contact with anyone aside from a sister who lived in New York. On Friday, that sister contacted Arico’s neighbors asking them to check on her as she had not heard from her in weeks. When no one would answer the door, the neighbor called 911. Deputies would find the back door ajar and Arico dead on the kitchen floor. An autopsy report revealed she had been beaten to death weeks earlier. When the news began reporting on the murder, police began receiving phone calls regarding some teens who admitted to committing the crime. Turns out two 16-year-old boys and a 14-year-old girl had been bragging about murdering Arico to their skeptical friends in the weeks since her death. “We received numerous calls, mostly from juveniles, about statements that had been made, but they thought they were lying because there was no body. Apparently these kids were known as liars, but once it was reported that an elderly lady had been found they reported it,” Sheriff Greg Champagne said.…

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — A man and his 12-year-old son have been arrested and charged with beating an 84-year-old man in a Target parking lot. According to an arrest report, Lawrence Blank was loading items into his car outside of a Target on November 21st when a silver Corvette almost hit him while backing out of a parking space. When Blank and the driver, Barry Hochstadt, got into an argument, Hochstadt’s son got out of the car and attacked Blank. According to the report, the boy threw Blank to the ground and began punching him in the face. Hochstadt allegedly got out and kicked Blank in the groin before he and his son, Aaron, left the scene. Police arrived and found Blank suffering from injuries to his shoulder, arm and hand but he refused medical treatment. Police were able to use surveillance footage and credit card information to track down Hochstadt and charge him and the boy with battery on an elderly person and criminal mischief. Hochstadt was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.…

LIVERPOOL, NEW YORK — I was reading about this over the weekend, but the site decided to crap its pants before I had a chance to post anything about it. The body of  Jenni-Lyn Watson was found Saturday and a few hours later her ex-boyfriend was arrested and charged with her murder. For those of you not in the know, Watson went missing from her parent’s home earlier this month and searchers were looking around a wooded area off Waterhouse Road, the last location her cell phone was used, last Tuesday. On Saturday, her remains were found in Clay Central Park covered in vegetation in an attempt to conceal the body. A few hours later her ex-boyfriend, Steven Pieper, was taken into custody and charged with her death. We now know he was a prime suspect all along — not just because he was a creepy, jealous kind of boyfriend who Watson had just broken up with in October — but also the fact that he left his cell phone in her home the morning she went missing.…

Morenci, MI — Police in Morenci have issued an Amber Alert for three brothers who were last seen Thursday afternoon and investigators believe the boys, 5-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander, and 9-year-old Andrew, are in extreme danger. The boys’ father, John Skelton, reportedly told police he handed the children over to a female acquaintance named Joann Taylor late Thursday night or early Friday morning, with instructions to deliver them to their mother – he claims he was going to commit suicide and didn’t want the children to witness the act. According to John, Taylor collected the boys late Thursday evening or early Friday morning and drove off in a white or silver mini-van. John reportedly attempted to take his own life, but failed – he is now being held at a mental health facility. When the boys didn’t show up at their mother’s house at 3:00 Friday afternoon, as scheduled, she called the police. Sadly, at a press conference on Saturday, Police Chief Larry Weeks stated there is a possibility that John Skelton fabricated the whole story.…

Rosemont, IL — Here’s a horrific case of child abuse that’ll knock your ass right out of the holiday spirit. A 33-year-old man is in jail on $200,000 bond after being charged with submerging his 17-month-old stepson’s face in scalding water, causing second-degree burns. After doing a bit of heroin and getting into an argument with his wife, police say Santiago R. Minjarez got aggravated at his stepson’s crying after the boy’s mother left the house. He admitted to holding the kid upside down by his legs, one of them still in a cast from a previous injury, and placing his head in the hot water running from a bathtub faucet. Realizing that this was not working, he then held the boy’s head under 2 or 3 inches of water in the bottom of the bathtub. Realizing he just burned the crap out of the kid, Minjarez tried getting help for the boy by taking him on the CTA Blue Line which did not get him to a hospital, but rather the O’Hare International Airport.…
